is bisexuality even possible?? opinions
So, there;s been some debate amongst my peers about the possibility of bisexuality, some people argue that it's bogus and there's no such thing, i think i kind of agree. KIND OF!!
i think that EVERYONE has a gender preference, whether that means you would engage in sexual/romantic/or any other such homosexual behaviors is something else. But i think that preference underlies your true sexual orientation.
what do you guys think?? don't be condescending or rude, just express your opinion.
In a way, I actually think that everyone is bisexual and few people are truly (100%) homosexual or heterosexual. Basically, I believe that people all lie somewhere along a sexuality spectrum with 100% homosexual on one end and 100% heterosexual on the other. Where one lies on the specturm would depend on how attracted he/she is to someone of the same gender as opposed to someone of the opposite gender.
It's all flesh, baby.
Some people aren't picky about the genitalia on the human that shares bedroom time with them.
Whatever is floating your boat for the time being.
A lot of people posted their opinions on this pretty recently: http://caloriecount.about.com/bisexuality-rea l-guys-ft137312
My response is to simply roll my eyes. Do some research on human sexuality.
Read Kinsey.
His theory: there is a 7-point continuum of sexuality, with a fluid transition between homo- and heterosexuality. It is natural to be somewhere on the continuum, however, it is more likely that society suppresses us overtly and subconsciously into fitting into a binary system, with a clear preference toward heterosexuality.

sheesh, someone's rude. despite research there still are differing opinions on the topic. don't be so freakin condescending...it's unpleasant and off-putting.
there are differing opinions, but the denial of bisexuality is a political position. it's not based on research or reality. in the past, the existence of bisexuality was a threat to the idea of a homosexuality gene or the born-that-way theory. it undermined the gay-rights movement. but we're past that, right?

How can you just ignore research? For me, ignorance is unpleasant and off-putting. Perhaps you should meet some people who are different from you. Maybe some bisexuals even... and no, I don't mean the whorish girls who make out with other girls in clubs to get attention from guys.
I struggled with the idea of bisexuality for a while. It was something I just couldn't grasp. I completely understood being gay, but bi just seemed weird to me.
I think the problem for me was that bi was a term used very loosely at my high school. There was a group of...eh...goth girls...who were all "bi," but now years later, they are all admittedly straight. So I sort of looked at it as a fad, or as someone who is just really curious and hasn't decided.
Now however, I know people who are bi, and I have a better understanding of it. I definitely think it's possible. I personally couldn't imagine being able to have serious feelings for both genders, but to each his/her own.
i have a friend who was "bi" but then she admitted that she is actually a lesbian...she just didnt want to let go of the idea of being with a man. i've thought about bisexuality myself, it's weird because i can look at another girl and think wow, she's really pretty, hott even, but it ends there. i don't equate attraction with sexual orientation i guess. i wonder where people draw the line or how they KNOW! i've met homosexuals who believe that there's no such thing as bisexuality which is why it intrigues me. i wonder if the social stigma makes it easier to define oneself as bi rather than simply homosexual.
I was watching the Tyra Show recently (it's an extremely guilty pleasure of mine), and she did something called "Gay Town"...I think? Something on those lines.
There were a bunch of different members in the gay community gathered and asked to discuss things. It was pretty clear that the member looked down on by the other members was definitely the bisexual. I would say the transgendered was looked down on to some degree, but the bisexual got it the worst. It struck me as weird watching people in the same community tear each apart, but it happens!

Finding someone attractive doesn't equate to being bisexual. Someone who is bisexual enjoys sex with both sexes and dating both sexes. And like jblargh said, bisexuals are typically looked down upon. People think they should be able to just pick one sex and stay with them. I know plenty of people who are bi (guys and girls) and they are not just denying the fact that they are gay. They genuinely are attracted to both sexes and have had relationships with both.
I'm just not sure why it's even an issue. If you're not bi it doesn't affect your life. I don't see the point in worrying about it.

you are so unpleasant...i am not "worrying" about it, just entertaining interesting thoughts, why are you so opposed to talking about sexuality as a subject rather than a point of conflict. that's why it's the lounge, not a debating forum. i wanted OPINIONS...read the original post. i wanted avoid people like you responding because it was NOT INTENDED TO BE UNPLEASANT. simply interesting, and thought provoking. geez, someone needs a chill pill.
There was a thread similar to this not too long ago and I think that's why people aren't really up for discussing it again. =)
I have fallen in love with people of both sexes, and I have been sexually attracted to people of both sexes. I don't see any reason why I should be forced to have a preference. Because you say so?
^Did someone in this thread say you should have a preference!?
and cptbunny....just because there was a similar thread not too long ago doesn't give people the right to act like errrr..you know what I'm thinking.
"I don't see any reason why I should be forced to have a preference. Because you say so?"
I hope this wasn't directed at me...because i don't "say so"...in fact, i don't really say anything at all. i don't care what someone's sexual orientation is, people are people. i just wanted to hear people's thoughts
i didn't know there was a similar thread, i made this out of boredom and curiosity. some people need to really take a moment to wind down before posting on forums. there is no need to release your frustrations on an innocent, anonymous, fellow CCer.
I wasn't posting this to pass judgment, nor do i feel that i said anything that comes across that way. it was supposed to be FUN!! for the last time. ENLIGHTENING. eye-opening. i dunno, something positive, but it's turned sour. so nevermind.

Yes. The op said "i think that EVERYONE has a gender preference". So, quite clearly, she does state that I have a preference. Which I don't.
it's just my perspective, from my experiences with individuals in life. not a JUDGMENT...not a reason to act unpleasant and get bent out of shape. so what, i think that people have a PREFERENCE, not that they can't like both. for example, i PREFER white guys to any other race, i am not racist, and i do not exclude other races when looking for a mate, but if choosing between the two i would have a preference. does that mean i don't like anyone else? no, absolutely not. i think the same COULD hold for sexual orientation. so, just my perspective. everyone is entitled to it and no one got rude so i don't see why people are acting in such a negative way.
chrissy1988, i definately dont think your trying to fight with anyone, but you have to understand you are walking a very very slippery slope. There is so much discrimination against gays and bisexuals out there, people arent going to react well when you question whether or not their sexual preference actually exists. All I can tell you is that if someone mentions that they are bisexual, just believe them. To question whether or not bisexuality actually exists is the same as suggesting that bisexual people might just be a bunch of liars. People arent going to have much fun with that.
Also, I think its completely possible to be bisexual and either like men and women equally, or prefer one over the other.
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
