a bit confused about the burn meter.
My burn meter says I burn about 1730 calories a day, but then I'm told that I should be eating around 2000 calories a day since I'm 17. Wouldn't that cause me to gain weight? Is the burn meter just not correctly formulated for teenagers?
I'm currently eating 1600 calories a day, which feels like enough food, I've just been getting confused about it!
yeh i looked on other sites and it says i should burn about 2030 a day (im 18 and reasonably active). i dont know what to believe and it would be good to know, stop me panicking when i have a bad day lol! m x

CC's tools are all formatted for people over 21 years old. Try this website for the teenager-formatted tools. :)
thanks the_kats_meow. i've used that before, but it doesn't tell me my BMR or RMR, just how many calories i "should" eat. it says 2180, but that seems like a whole lot of food to me, and besides that, i'm pretty sure it would make me gain weight. are there any tools for teens that calculate BMR or RMR?
I think the burn meter is just stating how many calories a day you burn before any exercise. You also have to plug in how active you are in a day and if you are mildly active then you are alotted more calories a day to eat. The lose it program for the iphone clarified that for me atleast. you can look on google for calorie budget tools. http://www.diet-blog.com/archives/2005/12/26/ how_to_calculate_your_daily_calorie_needs.php
there is one ^^ hope this helps!
That makes sense. Your link was very helpful as well. Thank you!
