hummmmmmmm.......... wondering how everyone is doing????

Hello, I'm not sure how I'm doing weight wise. I've had to add calories to get me over a plateau. I have been going back and forth between 169 and 172 for 6 weeks now. So I thought I would jump up my calories quite a bit for a few weeks. I'm back to restricting as of yesterday and I hope the scale doesn't show a huge gain. I know I need to do this to break my metabolism but am worried I will hurt the team this week. I'm due for AF so it may be water weight was well. I'm going to weigh in and post on Thursday morning.

SCCCCRRRREEEAAAMMMMM thats better lol,im so pissed ive been going to the gym 5 times a week and walking weekends and have lost a measly pound in the last 2 weeks, ive not gone over my cals either, why cant i just lose a steady 2 pound a weekCry

Hi Jane, I'm feeling it too. I've been playing with these same 3 lbs for 6 weeks now. I've stayed in my calories and all that, but it's just that nasty plateau for me. I'm hoping that my two weeks of not restricting and eating more calories is going to work. I've not been on the scale yet since I added those calories. I know I'll see a small gain, but hope in a month I will be back on the weight loss track. Keep pluggin along, try mixing things up a little. I joined a gym but wouldn't you know I picked one that won't be opening until December. It's a totally awesome high tech brand spankin new gym and I can't wait, but the problem is I need a workout plan now. I'll just have to keep walking until I get to step foot in my awesome new gym.Tongue out

thanks r4eboxer congrats on your weight lose so far you go girl!! its awful isnt it especially when you no your doing all the right things it seems like ive been 220's for months with the piddly loses ive been having,i had a 2000 cal day on sunday so were see if that does anything,by the way have you moved to your farm yet sounds amazing i started growing my own veggies this yr but left it a bit late so couldnt do to much ,wow i bet the gym is going to be fantastic i must admit i enjoy it and have noticed a diffrence in my fitness in 3 weeks so im gonna keep  at it,Smile

ughh, were almost at the new farm. lol We've got to get my in laws settled in their handicap friendly new house (on the same property) and then we should be moving in the weekend of Halloween. I really can't wait. I'm really looking forward to the gym. I've been ever so frustrated with my fluctuations these past weeks. I hope I don't have a big gain this week. I don't want to be a weak link in the challenge.

oh boy do i know what you two are talking about!!  i have been bouncing around 4-5 lbs...  last week i didnt count calories, but ate all healty stuff. i have been doing my outworks mid day. and today i decided to workout after supper... going to see if that works......  have you guys tried zig zagging your calories? that helped my last plateau...... but i think my body has adjusted to it. so now i shuffeling things around again.....  i wish us all luck!!

hi wildntaken, ive read a few things on here about zigzagging have you a link that will tell me how many cals each day to have please,...i always do my workouts in the morning if theres little change this week in the scale im thinking of doing gym 3 days a week and swimming on the other 2 days, come on scales be kind to us blue members this week plzzzz

good morning

jane, here is what i found.

this one is a thread on here,   http://caloriecount.about.com/zig-zag-method- ft31941

these two are just searching the web, http://www.naturalphysiques.com/tools.php?ite mid=64   this one gives you a calulator to kind of show you.

http://www.naturalphysiques.com/tools.php?ite mid=64

basicaly all you do is add all your calories for the week, and then spit them up where some days you are eating low amount of calories, and other days almost maintance calories....  try it see if if works for ya...... i know i got to jumble mine around to get passed this brick wall i have hit!

good luck.....

thank you durrr me why didnt tithink of google lol,ive had a look and the cals are a lot higer then what im on at the mo 1500 a day the average is 1776!! i wonder if that why im not losing do you think 1500 is to low? i burn about 500 a day at the gym god this diet lark is harder then i thought lol

i go pretty well with here at cc on total calories..... some of those sites is off.... try what cc suggests for ya first and if it dont work for ya up it a little at a time to see what does work for ya....

Morning jane, wild.... Well I got on the scale this morning and I have maintained. I didn't gain any with upping my calories so that is great news to me. I didn't log the amount of calories, but did make a mental note of how many I'd eaten.

I can feel my body craving more calories now that I've restricted them again so we'll see what next week brings. Aunt Flo should be knocking on the door any day now so hopefully I've got some water weight to shed too. I believe in the zigzag method as I did this one other time too. I just didn't do it for a few weeks then, I did it for a weekend and did get a two lb loss the next week.

Jane I don't think you were giving yourself enough calories. If you were burning 500 at the gym alone and only eating 1500 that gave your body only 1000 to use for organ function and other daily tasks. I do think you should up them by a few hundred. It looks like the 1776 is a better number to shoot for. Your body will eventually burn the stored fat on 1500 but will hold on to it as long as it can. It's much healthier for you to stay around 1600 - 1800 on average daily. Just eat high fiber foods that are low in empty calories.

Wild, what does your workout include? I've joined a gym but it won't be opening until Dec. I haven't been as dedicated to walking as I was in the beginning. I really need to add more exercise.

thanks girls,my week starts on a friday,so ill weigh in the morning, then ill have a go at the zigzag ill let you no how i go,its 4.45pm here in the uk so t time lol well thats good news boxer that you havent put any on,that what im dreading!! good luck to you both and thanks for the help x i forgot to say the tools on here give me 1550 cals a day

Hi everybody - just checking in!  Been away for a couple of weeks.  Was full of good intentions, but ate more than I intended...I always fall into the same trapEmbarassed

I did a lot of walking and so managed to lose a little weight in spite of the over-indulgence.  I tried zig-zagging my calories too, the last time I hit a plateau and it worked - so good luck.

xxjanexx - I admire your gym effort - I am hoping to get up enough courage to venture inside one!  It's the thought of the induction that puts me off, but I suppose it is necessary.  I know they will say my blood pressure is too high!

r4boxer - the gym you have joined sounds awesome!

wild - glad you had a good time at the fair!

Have a good week fellow blues!

welcome back, letsgetitstarted!! i was wondering about ya!!

r4eboxer  --- my workout includes what ever my body will let me do..... i walk treadmill @ home, climb the stairs about 10 times a day, the house chorses, and if my body works with me i stand and squat down, leg lifts (standing lift leg out to the side and lying on side lifting leg up)  girly push ups, bend over and touch my toes....... i cant afford a gym...... so i do what we did in gym class many moons ago..... i have been thinking about makeing weight to wear around my ankles - calf area..... weight equal to the amount i lost.... they did that on bl one season..... something different, see if i can do it.... see what happens...... next friday is our annversary, we have elephant rocks here and it is a hike around and up it and we havent been there in a few years, so if weather is nice i think we will go there and hike all day..... but that is my workout...... whatever i can do.....

here is some for ya til you til you can get in you gym

and i found this on the net too......

10 Things You Can Do To Lose Fat Without Even Trying

Fat loss doesn't have to be painful. Try these simple tips and you'll see just how easy it can be.

1. Eat smaller more frequent meals - not only is your metabolism boosted every time you eat something, your body can more efficiently process smaller meals. Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, try to break them up into 5 or 6 smaller meals.

2. Drink more water - regular water intake helps to flush away waste products in the body. Get at least six to eight 8 oz. glasses per day. An easy way to do this is to keep a water bottle handy and drink from it frequently.

3. Be inefficient - do you need to go to the kitchen to get a couple of things? Break it up into to two trips even if you can do it in one. Being inefficient like this can easily double your activity level, burning calories without even trying.

4. Eat more protein - sources of protein include foods such as chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, lean red meats, etc. Your body burns more calories processing protein than either carbohydrates or fats. Protein also helps to support your muscle tissue, which burns calories all day long!

5. Take the stairs instead of the elevator - any time you can add in a little more physical activity, do it. This doesn't mean you need to slog up 20 flights of stairs. Even a flight or two done regularly will add up.

6. Don't let yourself get hungry - when you get hungry you will have a much greater tendency to overeat when you do finally get something to eat. As well, because your body is starting to go into starvation mode, it will be much more likely to hold onto whatever you give it.

7. Order small portions at restaurants - it's tough to order small french fries when "supersizing" your order is such a great "value." Take note, however, your real savings will occur in the calories that don't end up on your backside.

8. Eat more fiber - fiber is very filling. By eating more fiber you will find yourself full sooner. This feeling of fullness will last a long time as well.

9. Wait 20 minutes between servings - your brain takes at least 20 minutes to register that you're full. By waiting that long, you'll give your brain a chance to realize that you don't really need any more food.

10. Cheat on your diet - one thing I always make my clients promise is that they will cheat on their diet. The only thing I ask that they do is to cheat ONLY when they have planned to cheat. By planning when you are going to eat the foods you crave, you take back control of your eating habits.

This way you no longer "give in" to your cravings. You "reward yourself" for sticking to proper nutritional habits. Do this once or wice a week and you will feel far more in control of your eating.

In conclusion, if you follow even a few of these 10 easy tips in the long term, you will certainly notice a difference in your overall weight and health.

hummm.... what do you think??

good luck and check in later...... (sometime tomorrow~)

Hi BT,

I've just been visiting the challenge link. Papa on the yellow team had a scale problem and weighs 280 not 264 like he posted. MHO is to let him change his starting weight. I've not heard Allie's opinion of this yet and I don't know if she has "rules" for this kind of thing. I don't think he gained 16 lbs in 2 weeks but I suppose it could be possible. Anyway we may want to give our opinions about it. It could lead to other gainers wanting to do the same thing.
