Any black or ethnic girls here? others welcome
I just realized this recently since i started using cc plus and seeing pictures, but I haven't met any minorities on this website yet. Statistics say ED's are much more likely for white women so maybe there aren't that many black or otherwise women on this site but just thought I'd ask.
If your out there lets start a community thread or something, cuz I dunno but, I think dieting can be a different experience for us and Its kinda hard hearing girls with small butts (no offense) complain about going up to a pants size 5.
Just wanna hear from the girls with a less european body type.
Im ecuadorian (hispanic) and i also have italian and austrian decendents. There are people here who arent white. I guess everyone has different body types yes but some hispanics do have small butts ...like me ..lmao. hehe.
Count me in on being a minority. And I definitely don't have a small butt! Shoot, my hips are about 10 inches bigger than my waist!
Eh, they're both getting smaller though. ![]()
**Prettypopcandy... you are so sweet and thoughtful for making such a thread**
Well, I am a bootylicious African-Native American, 5'7, 25yrs old with 24lbs to lose. My height disguises the weight, I guess thats a plus for being tall. But I do have fat that I want to get rid of and its mostly on my hips, thighs, and bum! My upper body is fine, even though I could do more toning on my arms and abs.
I think that genetics played a huge role in my weight. I have family members of all shapes and sizes but there is a trend. We carry more weight on our lower bodies. But like we all know is that everyones body type is different.
Good luck to all on accomplishing your goals!![]()
I'm a big, beautiful black woman (31 yo, 5'5", 158 pounds). I haven't gotten around to posting any pics yet. Even though I've lost over 30 pounds, the last time I checked my measurements, my booty/hip circumference was like 48" (WHOA!). I stopped measuring after that. Forget about the size zero/100-110 lbs. that everyone else here seems to be aspiring to, I'll be overjoyed if I can get back to a size 8-10/around 130ish.
I began working at a public health organization about 6 months ago and I was astounded when I started reading all the literature, especially regarding the health crisis in the black community caused by obesity. Maybe one less obese black woman won't matter to those who conduct the studies, but it's makes a big difference for that woman and the people around her. I for one am living proof.
I wish there was more awareness of this kind of thing in the community.
I have american indian in me and since I don't believe my father is my real father and my Grandmother looks hispanic I'm confident I have some ethniticity in me. Although I always put 'caucasion' when asked as I don't really know what I am LOL> shakes my head.
I have a huge butt and much bigger then my waist and that's okay because girls with more junk in the trunk I think are booty luscious. !
hey there --
my mom's black, my dad's puerto rican -- i'm me ![]()
i don't have a big behind by any means whatsoever. my problem area is the gut. the entire dad's side of the family is pretty much obese, with the exception of a couple who took after my aunt instead of my uncle (dad's brother).
i used to be, but not anymore. i'm in a healthy weight range! although i'd like to lose a few more pounds to see what i can do about this tummy.
but i do have problems with expectations from my family to not be too skinny. told my mom the other day i weighed 128 and wore a size 4...she raised her eyebrows but didn't say anything. she didn't have to. i know she thinks i'm too skinny. but i know i'm healthy.
and i know all races and ethnicities have their unhealthy foods, especially in America, but I'm surrounded by it at family gatherings -- arroz con pollo, empanadas, pasteles, pernil, macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pie, collard greens with neckbone, fried chicken, bbq ribs...all so delicious but so terrible for you.
at my family gatherings, the vegetable course is potato salad.
I hear ya missreporter........my grandma cooked southern and made home made grits, gravey on everthing, and her enchilada's were to die for oh and so was her chili.........
hard to get past all that comfort food.
hey prettypopcandy- great post!
i'm Indian and sure do have my hips and thighs along with booty (thats so in ure face!) wish i had bigger boobs tho :( I am in my healthy weight range- 5ft 6, 120 pounds, size 2, but my thighs and butt are huge. i find it so hard shopping for clothes in the US where everthing's made more for the apple shape than pear. no skinny jeans or leggings for me *boohoo. Any tips on where you ladies shop?
As for food- our lives revolve around it. Being veggie- its always been tons of carbs, fat, fruits and veggies and more fat. i'm trying really hard to add protein to my diet. I eat healthy tho now and stay away from fried junk food, indian restaurant greasy palak paneer and paneer makhni.
And yeah- the whole weight/size issue is so cultural. Whenever I go back to India and meet my family they all tell me i look sick/ malnourished/ "need more fat on my bones" i shut have to grin and bear it !! :0)
Good luck to you all, and lets keep this thread going!
I'm so glad everybody diggs my post ^_^
and by the way, fat2fit77, Its all about the name brand when it comes to pants. When I lose weight my waist gets smaller than my hips, but, thighs so I know what your talkin about. My fav jeans are apple bottoms. I don't even like Nelly but this brand fits curves very well. expensive so get deals at ross or tj maxx. Keep trying on different brands, even in stores you wouldn't normally shop at.
And to all the light skinned ladies with the booties... go head on girl! work it out!
Oh yeah, and here's food for thought...
Someone had mentioned the black obesity epidemic.
I've seen reports on the news that claim blacks and latinos are genetically more likely to become obese (it was on cnn i think)
do you think its true? Or do you think it more to do with cultural lifestyles foods?
i don't trust anyone or anything that looks to genetic differences to explain inequalities or supposed inferiorities among minorities.
