I need some help loosing weight. I am 31 years old and most of the Men on my father's side including my father have died as a result of a bad heart or bad lungs. I want to be around to watch my daughter grow up. I have tried many things. I have an injured back that does cause me pain as well as the rest of my joints. I can do a lot of things but, my gut henders me from a lot of things. I would like to get to a safe healthier weight. I am now trying to eat a low calorie diet. Lower than what I have any way. I only ate 1900 calories today compared to 3000 to 4000 calories. I have been doing yoga for the last week now and went walking around my neighborhood a couple of times. I am trying to stay motivated. I need to do this for myself and family. All help is appreciated.

Yoga and walking sounds excellent! Especially if you have issues with your back and joints! Have you thought about swimming? Though I have to admit that for some people (including me) swimming is a pain ... not only the time it takes but especially walking through a public pool in a swimsuit is not exactly cheerful! :o) 

1900 cal sounds very sensible! I am trying to eat between 1700 and 1900 cal and have just lost 20 lb as of today. Within 5.5 weeks. It does actually work I guess :o)

Thanks, I want to get back to a managable weight for myself. I just really let myself go for a while. I need to get my weight under control to help with my back. The closest pool is on the other side of the county. Someone said it is heated and it might be possible to use during the winter months. I will find out good suggestion.
