Hello Green Team!
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone during this challenge, and I sure do need the motivation! I almost lost it when I saw that I GAINED a pound today, despite eating well yesterday. I'm trying not to think about it too much, and hopefully come next weigh-in, that'll be a thing of the past.
-Ashley
Hi Green Team!!
Really looking forward to getting to know everyone also and letting this keep me more accountable of myself right now. Hopefully things level out a little bit more with next weigh in. Fighting a gain because i've increased carbs a little, not on purpose, but I'm transitioning off meat and it wasn't easy at first. Had a lot of people saying you fail if you start using substitution products off the bat but this is so much easier on me to have similar food to the family. New meal plan should work better for me and I'll be back out running in a few days.
Hopefully it's not going to be too bad at weigh in! Got a sore foot keeping me off a couple days but nothing I can't handle. Guess this is where the elliptical comes in.
~Stacey
Hey Green Team! I'm so excited to do this with all of you! This is my first BL challenge and I know that with encouragement and support we can lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle!
I'm Bethany and I live in Iowa. I'm 27 and I work at a hotel. I get to be the smiling face that greets people as they walk into my hotel! I've got 60-70 pounds to lose and I think that this challenge will jumpstart me and give me some good motivation to go above and beyond what I am already doing.
So tell me about yourself. What are your passions? Why are you doing this?
Hi Nikki, and thanks for being our team leader
Would you mind editing your original post to include the list of our team members please? It would help me keep track of everyone.
Ashley, don't worry about day to day fluctuations in your weight - 1lb is nothing, it's normal to go up and down a bit. I'm sure you're right and by the next weigh-in it will be a thing of the past!
Stacey, I love using the elliptical, it's so easy on the body! Good luck transitioning to your new meal plan, keep counting the calories, keep your deficit, and the increase in carbs shouldn't matter one bit.
Bethany, the is my first BL challenge too - here's to great success! I'm doing this so that I know I'm doing the best I can to stay healthy for my young children (to put it bluntly, I don't want to die and leave them motherless because I chose pizza and butter over them), and also so that I don't feel ashamed of how I look. What about you? You have the same amount to lose that I started off with - keep up your hard work and you'll get there!
I'm 43yo, have lost 27 pounds since January 6th (4 months now! slow & steady wins the race), and have another 25-30 pounds to lose. I'm a sahm to 3 boys, my dh works out of town a LOT (leaving me to handle everything on my own, busy, busy) and my dad has just moved in with us because he badly injured his leg and needs care while he recovers. It's been a little crazy here for a few weeks!
Happy Mother's Day to all the green team moms!!!
2 days till Tuesday weigh-in - good luck everyone! Mia
Hello everyone... this is going to be short, I'm exhausted, physically & emotionally....my grandpa passed away last Wed. and the viewing was today, funeral tomorrow...
anyway, I'm doing fairly well with the weight thing... good luck to everyone!
hi everybody! :D
i'm sooo glad this place remained active - my original post was done in a hurry as i was out of town, visiting my mom for the mother's day weekend and i didn't really have much free time to check up on our meeting place. it looks like people are slowly but surely finding their way over here, which is awesome!
so, i had a crazy, hectic weekend (or rather, last four days). since the fiance and i were back in our hometown visiting, we decided we'd get a jump start on some of the wedding planning. we spent all day thursday looking at reception sites. hello lots of confusion! and lot's of eating out.
friday, i went looking at wedding dresses with my mom, which equalled more eating out.
saturday was both my youngest brother's and my fiance's birthday celebrations, aka (you guessed it!) even more eating out.
ah yes, and then we get to today... no eating out
, but perhaps over-doing it just a little in the left-over cake and ice cream department.
oh yeah, and then, once i arrived back home, i discovered my luggage did not. it somehow got left behind - wtf?! soo, needless to say, the past four days kinda sucked, lol. "/ it was awesome to get to see my family and spend time with them and to get the wedding planning started; it was not so awesome that i ate like crap and have my luggage 400+ miles away. anyway... that's all in the past - tomorrow begins a new week! except, i'm almost positive this week's weigh-in is going to show the results of the last four days. booo!! oh well...
justsmileandnod: don't worry too much about that one pound gain, i'm sure it'll be gone by this week's weigh-in. i'll keep my fingers crossed for ya! ;P
ladyduece: ellipticals work wonders when you are injured! i prefer running (perhaps because i'm crazy like that, i dunno. lol, jk), but i can't run everyday - it's hard on my knees and ankles. so i really don't mind alternating between running and the elliptical - i feel like it still gives me a great workout. good luck and hope your foot feels better soon!
bhmoore: hopefully you'll find the motivation you need right here! i think we all need a little extra encouragement sometimes (ok, ok, i need a lot! lol). good luck and have fun with it!
mamamiasmith: i am sooo honored to be the green team's team leader - i've never been a leader for a BLC before, so i'm super excited, haha! i meant to add the list of names when i first created the thread, but my computer was being tempermental and did not want to cooperate, lol. i added it in now though. :)
tazzie_23: i am so sorry to hear about your grandpa. :( my prayers are definitely with you and your family. and know that if you need someone to talk/vent to, feel free to message me.
oh yes, let me introduce myself as well. my name is nikki (i'm sure you figured that much ;)) and i am 23 years old. i just recently graduated from college and got engaged! :D i have a job where i pretty much sit behind a computer screen or in a lab all day long, so i don't do much moving around during the day. i do try to move when i can though - i take the stairs instead of the elevator, walk to lunch instead of drive (if i don't pack my own), etc. i've got about 20 pounds to lose total (started with 30 to lose and finally got rid of the first ten, :D), but i'm approaching the weight loss ten pounds at a time. i'm hoping to be down to 150 by the end of this challenge. wish me luck! :D
Hi ladies! My name is Sarah and I'm here for motivation. I figure if I have a competition holding me accountable I might work a little harder for the weight loss, I've lost 38 lbs so far and am pushing for the 40 lb mark, trying to avoid a plateau any time soon.
Good luck to you all!!
HI
Hi everyone. I am so excited about our group. My name is Stacey, but my nickname is Staz. I am 40 years old. My main motivation is…. Boat season is almost here, and I want to do more hiking. It has been a really busy few months, and more to come. My son is graduating high school and my daughter is graduating college in June… I would LOVE to be down at least 10 lb for her graduation..
Look forward to this challenge. Staz ![]()
Tazzie_23, grandparents can be such a special influence in our lives and I'm so sorry that you've lost your grandpa.
Nikki, congrats on both your college graduation and your engagement. Wedding planning is so much fun! When is your big day? Eating out is hard to do because there's not much on most menu's that's healthy - but weeks like the one you had while beginning to plan your wedding are part of life and we all have to get used to dealing with them. Hopefully you got in some exercise and found some semi-good choices on the menus. Did you get your luggage back yet?
Sarah, wow, 38lbs is great! Good luck to you, too - I bet you'll hit the 40 lb mark real soon!
Staz, boating and hiking are fun motivations! And wow, both of your children graduating, you must be so proud of them!
nikki and mamamiasmith- thanks for the kind words... :) the funeral went well...as well as a funeral can be i guess.
my weight this morning was 209.8... that's the lowest I've been in 12 years! just hope i can keep going... i tend to plateau often
Alrighty, It is my turn now to introduce myself. I am 24 years old and have been overweight pretty much my entire life. I have had my first child and didn't gain but about 20 pounds throughout the pregnancy, but I am ready to get off that weight and alot more than that. I want to be able to play with my son more, I mean I do as is a lot. I am a stay at home mom and I love LOVE being a Mommy. But I know that I need to lose weight in order to get around better with him and to get him a little sister sometime in the future. My biggest struggle is food. I LOVE food. I love cooking food, baking food and tasting food. I have yo-yoed dieted my whole life and am finally ready to commit to a lifestyle change. My husband is majorly skinny and doesn't need to lose weight and loves to eat eat eat eat eat eat eat so that doesn't help things. I guess I just need this to keep me motivated and accountable.
What percentage of carbs, protein and such does everyone try to get in a day? That is something that I have been wondering about lately.
Hi everybody! My name is Theresa. I am 38 and live in the Nashville, TN area. I was always underweight and only weighed 162 the day my daughter was born. That quickly dropped off and I was back down to my pre-baby weight. But, about 6 months later, I gained 60 pounds and got up to 199 pounds in 3 months time. My daughter is now almost 9 years old, and I've been battling that extra weight since then. I did lose 30 pounds about 4 years ago, but eventually gained back 15 of that and have pretty much maintained at that for the past few years. I may lose 5-10 pounds here and there, but always gain it back. I would love to just get back to the 162 I was at when she was born AND STAY THERE. LOL!
I was here a year or so ago and dropped to 171, but gained it all back over the next 6 months. My incentive to come back is because I am taking my daughter to Disney World in July and I would like to just be able to walk the park. I'm back on the treadmill, and while my main goal isn't necessarily to lose weight, I'm hoping it comes with the territory. I'm just trying to get to the point where I can walk more than a few hundred feet without having to stop and rest. I admit that I'm terribly out of shape. I also tend to plateau every 10 pounds, and breaking that 170 mark just never seems to happen. I've been tracking my calorie intake, and it ranges from 1300-1500 every day, so I think my main problem is getting off my butt and getting some exercise.
Weigh ins start today! I'm debatig if I should weigh in this morning, or wait until Thursday. I know that I will have a dramatic loss, but most of that will be because last week I was on my period so it was water weight and bloating. I'm so excited for this! Go Green Team!!!!!!!!
I'm going to weigh in on Thursday! Do we post it in the original thread or what?
GO GREEN TEAM! You're all beautiful and dedicated, we can win not only this but any other challenge life puts in front of us regarding getting healthy!
THINK HEALTHY THOUGHTS!!
Yes, you post in the original thread. Copy and paste your original weigh in on a new reply and edit the second week's weight. Also make sure to put that you are on GREEN TEAM!!!!!
I decided to weigh in today. It was a good amount lost, and I doubt that next week will have that impressive of a number so I figured I'd give myself the extra 2 days instead of cutting it short.
So far Green Team is rocking out, so lets keep up the good work! Go Green Team!
holy smokes, green team - we are on fire!
i checked the main thread to see if anybody from our team has posted week one weigh-ins today, and so far we are losing some MAJOR poundage!! ![]()
i hope ya'll don't mind me sharing your progress, but i just have to brag about our awesome team, just a little bit
:
tazzie: down 4.1 pounds
keyster: down 5.6 pounds
bhmoore: down 5.4 pounds
shannie: down 5.0 pounds
total weight lost so far: 20.1 pounds!!!
that is freaking amazing, and only four people have weighed in so far. i can just imagine what our total for the week is going to be once the rest of us weigh in! ahh, i'm soooo excited for everybody!!! congrats to you four ladies for jump starting this challenge - i freakin' love and admire ya'll! for the rest of us, let's kick it into gear and keep up with these four - they're definitely gonna give me a run for my money. i think ya'll just gave me the boost i needed, lol.
yay green team!! let's keep it up!!
sarahc09: hi sarah! *waves hello* hopefully the support from this group will help you avoid any plateaus you may encounter. i'm pretty good at hitting a certain weight and then just stalling out, so i'm hoping to avoid them too. good luck!
stazziic: that is crazy cool that both your son and your daughter are graduating. you must be one proud momma! i'm trying to drop 10 pounds too, for the summer/4th of july (aka, cute sun dress season, haha!). good luck and congrats on your kiddos' accomplishments!!
mamamiasmith: thanks so much! our big day is still about a year and a half away, but we wanted to get a jump start on the planning since it is going to take place in our home town (which is not where we are currently living). i'm starting to realize that planning this long distance soiree (lol) is going to be one difficult task. but i'm super excited none the less!
oh, and yes, i did finally get my luggage back, along with a $50 voucher - score! my fiance said maybe we should encourage them to forget our luggage more often - he's so silly.
tazzie: congrats on getting down to your lowest weight! that is something to be super proud of and hopefully it has motivated you to keep going. you can so do it girl!
keyster: i feel ya - i have a significant other who is super tall (and fairly thin) and eats and eats and eats some more and is able to maintain his weight. and i eat and eat and eat some more and gain like 80bajillion pounds! lol, ok, so not that much, but you get the picture. and don't worry, you can totally count on us to give you the motivation and accountability you need to stay on track.
oh, and about the percentage of carbs, protein, and fats, it really depends on you and what your body likes. as a basis, i think starting off with about 60% carbs, 25% protein, and 15% fat may help guide you. and then if you realize that you need more protein and less carbs, then you can start to adjust accordingly. everybody's bodies are different, so it's just a matter of figuring out what works best for you. hope that helps! if not, i'll try and gather some more info for you. just let me know.
ohtobethinagain: so, i went to disney world for the first time this past january, and that place is gigantic!! i was exhausted at the end of the day.
i think that doing this for your daughter is a wonderful thing and you will definitely enjoy the park much much better. good luck! and take lots of pictures when ya'll go so we can see!!! ![]()
bhmoore: i just have to say that i love LOVE your enthusiasm! i can feel it resonating from my computer screen, haha! ![]()
go green, wooo!! ![]()
justsmileandnod added her weigh-in for this week too which added another pound to our total lost for this week. we are now at 21.1 pounds down, yesss!!!
oh man am i pumped, haha!
