keyster: you are very welcome.  if you need any more help or have any other questions, feel free to ask! Smile

justsmileandnod: ya'll could also go for a hike!  and maybe pack your own lunch - sandwhiches, carrot sticks and/or baked potato chips, lots of fruit, etc.  then, when you get to a certain spot, stop and have your own little picnic!  or maybe you could go for a bike ride to a park near-by and have your picnic there.  just trying to think of incorporating healthier eating options as suggestions too... oh, and thanks so much for the encouraging words! Wink

mamamiasmith: sooo, am i gonna be getting those 17 nagging pm's a day??? Embarassed

ladyduece: like justsmileandnod said, if you can/feel like it, hit up the elliptical - don't crazily over do it though - you don't want to hurt yourself.  and if you can't/don't feel like it, then don't.  everybody is allowed to have a day off (or four, like i took, lol Embarassed).  what's important is that you (1) realize and acknowledge that you didn't make the best food choices, and (2) know and understand what you have to do to make it better.  most people can't recognize those things and think that it's perfectly normal and healthy to eat foods like that all day everyday.  just brush it off and remember that tomorrow is a new day! Laughing

bhmoore: soo, i think it's probably safe to say that your 2.2 pound "gain" probably is water weight.  unless you managed to consume 7700 calories yesterday Surprised... which i doubt!  just make sure to get lots-o-wata today and the rest of the week and try not to weight yourself again until next week's weigh-in.

Thanks everyone.  I didn't hit the ellipitcal (too tired) but I'll get in something today.  I overslept from being wiped out by yesterday most likely it'll be elliptical today or going for a run tonight.

and bhmoore I'd say it's water too if you weighed in the same conditions both times.  Don't stress!~

Everybody is doing great!  I was proud of my 2lb loss, but now that I see others on the team have lost 4 and 5 pounds, I need to kick it up a bit.

As to the show, Estella and Jerry..........WOW is all I can say.  I think it's great that despite going home the first week, they did so well and Jerry won the "at home" prize.  That goes to show you don't have to be on the program to be successful.  (However, I think being retired and having time to work out did give them an advantage over the average person who is working and raising kids doesn't have.  Aubrey didn't look like she had lost anything after going home, and actually looks like she's gained some.)  I'm not a fan of Helen, either, but she did do a good job and looks really good.  I was hoping Tara would win and could use the money to get a house and get out of her parent's place.  I think it would be good for her.  Mike was too young to really appreciate the prize money, but he did a great job, too.  I'm hoping that if Max can't manage to get the weight off on his own, that he will be given a chance to be on the show when he turns 18.  I'm afraid that if he isn't given the same opportunity that Mike had, there will be a life long amount of jealousy there.  And, having a sister 2 years younger than me, I know exactly what it's like to try to help them and share your insights and knowledge - the youngsters just don't appreciate it.  LOL!  You can tell that Max is a having a hard time dealing with it.  Sure, he says he's proud of Mike and I'm sure he is, but deep down, he's a bit disappointed that he didn't have the same opportunity.  I just hope the producers have it in their heart to give him that same chance should he still be overweight when he turns 18.

Hey everyone. I thought I'd come and introduce myself to the team. My name is Shannon and I am 22. I'm hoping this challenge will help me with my motivation. I'm looking to lose all together about 70 lbs. That would get me down to a healthy weight range for my height. Also I will be getting married next year and I would really like to look my best at my wedding.

I was really happy that Jerry took the at home prize. It's amazing what he has acheived, especially considering that he and his wife weren't on the ranch very long at all. They proved that it can be done at home, no matter what obstacles are in your way. I'm glad Helen won too. She worked really hard. It would have been nice to see Tara win just because of how hard she pushed herself the whole season. She is one tough lady. And I really hope that Mike and Ron can help Max. He wants to change, it was easy to that. He just needs the support and encouragement to get started.

Anyways looking forward to getting to know the green team! Good luck to everyone! We can do it!!

Random question - How much does being "dehydrated" affect your weight?  Yesterday I weighed in at 192.2 and this morning I weighed in at 194.4.  I know that I did not gain that much real weight overnight, especially since I went to a cardio dance class.  However, I forgot to bring a water bottle, and I think I didn't drink enough water.  I'm wondering if my body started to freak out and is holding on to all the water I do have and if that is what caused the 2.2 ld. weight "gain".

I have a plastic cup that holds, I don't know.........probably close to a 1 liter of water.  I sell on ebay and have a scale that measures to the 1/10th ounce.  I actually weighed it full of water one day (used the tare button to reset it so was weighing just water, not water and cup), and it was just a little over 2 pounds.  So, now when I step on the scale, I know that up to 2 pounds can just be from drinking water late in the day.  That helps me not freak out over a 2 pound gain.  I think a gallon weighs a little over 8 pounds.   A friend of mine works construction, and it's not unusual for him to lose 10-12 pounds during the day just from working in the heat.  Water weighs a lot more than people think.

every single person on our team has weighed in for this week, which is crazy awesome!  i'm glad i don't have to go hunt anybody down, lol.

so, because i'm crazy anal retentive and like to over-analyze everything, i created a spreadsheet to keep track of each individual on our team as well as our overall team progress.  i am happy to report that in our first week of the biggest loser challenge 11, we have lost a total of 34.3 pounds!! Laughing  that comes out to 1.34% of our total weight - gone, forever!!!  no hoping or wishing that it really is gone, it IS.  we are not looking back on that weight lost - we are pushing forward from here!

i'd like to congratulate keyster and staziic for losing the most poundage (lol) - both are down 5.6 pounds from last week.  and bhmoore had the biggest percentage lost with 2.73% gone!  ya'll freakin' rock!

everybody on our team freakin' rocks!  regardless of whether we "win" this week or not, i think that we all did an amazing job contributing to this team's success.  i hope that we can continue supporting each other like we have been and help one another get to our goals by the end of this challenge.  i know each and every one of you has it in you to continue down this amazing road!  i'm sooo excited for our team - ya'll truly are THE BEST!!  hugs for everbody!!!! Laughing

shannie3: first of all, way to go on your five pound loss this week - that's sooo awesome!!  and second of all, i'm getting married next year too!!!! LaughingLaughingLaughing  i'm right there with ya - wanting to look my absolute best on my i mean our big day, lol.  my fiance is such a sweetheart and tells me i look perfect just the way i am *swoon*, but i want to do this for me.  sooo, when's your big day?!  ahh, i'm so excited - i love weddings!!!

Oh wow, now I'm in love with you!  LOL - I adore charts and spreadsheets, etc.  You rock! (no nagging pm's for you!)  Green rocks!  34.3 pounds gone!

CoolCoolCool

mamamiasmith: i think that charts and spreadsheets make this world a better place, haha!  ok, maybe not, but i'm pretty sure i can't live without them.  especially for tracking weight loss.  if i can't see the changes (in a chart fasion), i won't realize that change is actually happening.  if i don't see the trends, i see no point in continuing what i'm doing.  if i do see the trends, and they are moving in a downward slope, i get super excited and motivated to continue what i'm doing!  i've found that keeping track of my weight, measurements, bmi, and now percentage lost, really helps me stay focused and motivated.

anybody else crazy like me and chart everything?  anybody... anybody??

I'll be honest, I don't really like spreadsheets and charts... unless someone else makes them.  I'm an English major and Excel scares me!  I'd much rather write an essay then deal with numbers on a chart!  That is one of the reasons I love this site so much.  I can enter in my weight and watch the little graph go down.  Yay!

I will admit though that I do love weddings!  I'm still single so no weddings for me in the near future, but I would eventually love to be a wedding coordinator.  I interned with one for a while and have done 2 of my friends' weddings.  I have another wedding next summer, and I used to work at a wedding supply store.  I currently work at a hotel.  Right now I'm at the front desk, but everyone there knows I want to move into weddings and events once we get enough business to merit a full time event coordinator.

To echo Nikki, I am so excited about our team!  We are going to kick butt!  We ALREADY kick butt!  Go Green team!

I'm normally not one for excuses but this week has been a rough week... I started smoking AND drinking again for the first time in months. I barely lost a pound this week, but I guarantee next week will be a lot better. I have a plan that I'm sticking to starting Monday for fitness and for the rest of this week (until Sunday) I'm going to do HIIT EVERY DAY and stay at 1200 calories!! and no more cigarettes!! NO MORE.

Please read my journal entry with my plan starting Monday and motivate me, hold me accountable, something. I don't want to hold the team back.

I heart spreadsheets. Especially for finances.

I have spreadsheets for Everything!  Love em!  I guess it's kinda forced habit from being in the military and having to have everything from people to trucks (was a mechanic) and tools itemized and accounted for lol.  But it's a GOOD Thing!  I also do have ADD (supposedly was never formally diagnosed but my dad was against it) so the lists and tracking keeps me less scatterebrained.  I dunno, I can function without them but it's easier taking that extra second to double check with a list.

I'm starting back on track on Monday too Sarah... I'll keep on you if you keep on me!  This way the green team can rock even more!

Wow is it me or did our team officially dominate????

Woo hoo green team!  We lost the most weight this week!  And congrats to bhmoore for second place as an individual!  Let's see if we can't do it two weeks in a row!

I love spreadsheets, too.  I even use Excel for things that are probably better done in other software programs.  LOL!

YAY GREEN TEAM!

Wow we killed this week!!  Way to go bhmoore!!

Wow! We totally rocked this week!  I am so excited!  What a great start!  Lets be that team that from week one kicks everyone else's butts!

I'm still surprised that I got 2nd place, but as I said earlier, a lot of that was water weight because it was my time of the month when I weighed in for week 0.  I've been hitting the gym though this week, so hopefully there will be good results this week too!

We are all in this together, so lets continue to eat healthy and exercise!

Smile

ahhhhh, i am SOOOO stoked - we freakin' killed it this week!!

i know i said this in yesterday's post, but i just have to say it again - you all did an AMAZING job this week!  being so fantastic would not have been possible without every single person's dedication and determination.  i can't wait to see what the rest of this challenge has in store for us!

i freakin' love the green team, wooooo!!!!

oh yes, i'd also like to welcome kilkenny3 to our team!

kilkenny3: we are so very excited to have you!!  good luck!! Smile
