BLC 9: Orange Team Meeting Place
Hi Team Orange members!
Let's use this spot to introduce ourselves, motivate and encourage each other!
I'm a 37 y/o mom of two, ages 8 and 5. I'm married to my adoring husband of 13 years. I've only been on CC for about a month now. My short-term GW is 155 by 4th of July. I would LOVE to make some friends and help each other stay motivated to lose, lose, lose!!!
Hi Everyone,
I am ready to take charge and lose this 50 I've put on in the past two years - yes, two years it's not a typo. I am 43, mother of 4, busy with work, hubby, kids etc ... and unlike some, I eat with stress which is how I wound up here. I have been a yo yoer for years. I have found that exercise keeps me in check so I am going to use my treadmill 5 days/week. I know I can do it. I too am looking forward to the show tomorrow night. Go Orange !!
Hello Everyone,
I am getting married in Oct '09 and am totally motivated to losing the weight I have to lose. I have always been on the curvy side so weight doesn't always appear to badly but I'm tired of not feeling comfortable in my own skin. I know this will be important on my wedding day since all eyes will be on me (yikes!).
I have about 30 something pounds to lose, trying to achieve my mini goal of 50% weigh loss by February so I can go dress shopping!
See you on the boards...
Go Orange!!!!
Go Orange! I posted my first week weigh in and I am psyched to say I lost 6.8lbs! It's 95% water weight, but I'll take it!
100orbust, I totally hear you. I'm a stress eater too. I have 3 kids, worked full time and got up to over 250lbs! I quit my job in May of 2007 and dropped 20lbs in less than 3 months just because my stress level was so much lower! Of course, stress always finds me and my weight continues to yo-yo, but since joining CC I've lost more than I've gained so I think the bottom line is that there will always be stress, I just have to learn not to let it get the best of me.
Deirdre, congrats on the upcoming wedding! It's quite the incentive to lose weight! I was heartbroken to have to buy my wedding dress in a size 24 and was thrilled when a year later they had to make it a 16! Now my goal is to get back into it before my 10th anniversary!
Hi Everyone.
Just poppin in to say hi. I too have lost 6lbs this week, it was better yesterday-lol but water weight or whatever Im with you Jodifer Im taking it! I watched diet tribe too yesterday and it is so motivating, Its nice to have friends on CC too who know exactly what you are going through and have the same goals, as Im been kind of whiney all week too trying to adjust to staying under my 1500 cals. I have this bag of chocalate hostess donuts (that my mother-in-law gave me on Sunday when she got 2 for 1) and I have to pass by it sitting on top of my bread box several times a day. I have tryed to get my kids and husband to eat them but they always pass on it. I swear SOMEONE better eat them soon!! lol
As Ive been known to eat half a bag of those things in the past at one sitting!
I thought about hiding them but then they wouldnt know they were there and never eat them (Only I would know, even worse)
It is sooo hard but Im being good and hope passing on the bad stuff gets easier. Maybe Ill pack them in my kids luches for tomorrow. That would actually be hilarious when they open their lunch and have 12 chocalate donuts each-lol
Evil little things!!
Good luck everyone :)
Buggy - I hope they are really BIG training wheels, I am kinda a big boy! No I don't get mad.
Ang - Like I tell my team, picture a 6'2", 270lb REDNECK breathin' down your neck if you don't get to the gym! And yes that is me! It don't matter if I am green or orange I am here to motivate EVERYONE!!!!!!!
100orbust - Great stress reliever, HIT SOMETHING HARD OVER AND OVER! I like to go to the driving range and hitting a bunch of golfballs or hitting the heavy bag in the Gym!
Deirdrereilly - Congrats on the upcoming marriage! First, NO TRYING! DOING is better! You WILL lose 50% of the total you want to lose!
Jodifer - See 100orbust for the stress! Congrats on the weight loss! The first couple of weeks may be majority water weight, but in the long run it equals out.
BonBon - Simple solution, and I have done this more than once when my wife or mom brought stuff over! THROW IT OUT or give it to your neighbor! I get it trouble for it, but all I have to say is "18 years and going home with nothing to show" and they both back down. (I am in the Navy and if I don't stay on top of my weight they have threatened to send me home after 18 loyal years with no severence, retirement or anything. DON'T THINK SO!!!!!) Hiding them BAD IDEA!!!
Later Ladies,
Papa (Green team infiltrator!)
*holds up shiny pink & silver streamers for the handle bars* These are for you, too. Hope you like them.
I can already tell this challenge is going to be FUN!!!!!!! Never had this much interaction in the last couple of challenge I have been part of!
*suggestion*
100orbust go over to bonbon1974's house & take those evil little treats out to the driving range. Can you say...wooo, chocolate golf balls? I knew you could.
2 problems solved at once. Send payment to team orange, thanks.
Guys, I just want to let everyone know that it's TTOM so the weigh-in is going to be skewed the first week.
How does one lose so much water weight ? I know don't eat salt, but really, what are you doing to lose 6, 7, 8 pounds ? Gene literally lost 8 pounds overnight the day after he weighed in. As trainer Bob Harper would say, "I smell game." No, he would never do that on purpose.
Gene's watching football and just showed me an item on a tailgating special. someone from our town cracked eggs in a plastic baggie, added whatever they wanted from the nice selection of veggies and ham, and boiled it in a pan of water. It became an omelet. Interesting camping/tailgating option.
My mother, who is 83 and lives 1000 miles from here, is staying with us, and that has slowed our time at the Y and our time downstairs exercising. It's hard for her to join us here because she has to get back upstairs. She's using muscles here she had forgotten and is in real pain and on pain meds. Gene bought a wii fit this weekend, but we have to use it away from the part of the house my mother is in. Being with her is real motivation to stay healthy though. The wii fit is really cute.
Blessings!
Hey D (for short) just a little FYI I have the Wii FIT also and in one half hour session I burned over 500 calories. It is awesome to use for a quick workout at home! I love mine and use it about 3 days a week!
Oh, and I gained a few pounds after the New Years parties, but by my scale at home (not the same one I use for weigh in's) says that I have lost 6 pounds since Sat morning. The scale I use for weigh-in's says I still weigh in at the same weight as last week.
Papa
Hi Dummie, I am clueless to how I lost 6lbs this week, so Im just chalking it up to water weight, I know my luck wont continue like this. I think Its true the bigger you are the more you lose so being on the lighter side you may have a slight disadvantage with the big #s like us right off. Hang in there, Im sure youll see results.
I have been eating 1500-1600 cals per day, trying to add alot of fruit and fiber (fiber one bars are soo good). I think before starting this I was eating over 3000 cals per day (no kidding, alot of pop) I switched to water and diet pop this week and it helped so much.
I want a wii fit so bad, let us know if its fun, it sure looks fun.
Buggyhair-lol, maybe we can hit those chocalate golf balls right into papa's spokes of his cute little bike (sorry papa your on the green team, we need to slow you down some-heehee)
I actually pawned some of the donettes off on my yougest son today. Its becoming a joke around my house, everytime someone says theyre hungry, I offer them some donettes-lol, but I havent caved yet-yay me.
I watched Biggest loser tonight. OMG was anyone else crying at the end when the people had to go home? Thats a good show!
Hi guys- just posted weight - 261.8- down a couple pounds: maybe got thru the plateau??/ Don't know but i'll take it. Good luck this week guys!!!
Dummie, I agree with Bon...the more you have to lose the more you seem to lose initially. Of course it would be wonderful is 6lbs a week was sustainable, but after the first couple weeks I generally slow down to 1.5lbs a week.
Did anyone watch DietTRIBE? Their trainer put them on a 1500 cal a day diet (so am I) with enough exercise to burn 1000 cals a day. He also put them on a meal plan that is 50% Protein, 30% Carbs and 20% fat. It seems like CC's analysis tool says 50% carbs with 25-30% protein and 20-25% fat. Any suggestions or comments on what breakdown is best?
Bon, do you think you're keeping those donettes around as a challenge to yourself? You're gonna feel great when they're all gone and you didn't eat any!
Kawnd - congrats on the weight loss. BTW, is that ur berner? Adorable...my family has had berners & saints for the past 10 years.
Continued Success to All! He we go into week 2!
Hey everyone tsc319 her. I am so excited I just posted my first weeks weigh in and I lost 4lbs? I have been on CC for about 5months. I have been losing all along but never 4 lbs in one week. I have lost 44lbs so far. Lot's more to go....
good luck everyone and go..........Orange.............
Hey Team Orange!! Hope everyone is finding a way to MOVE IT MOVE IT!! Even if it's just up and down the stairs a few extra times, every little bit helps burn those calories.
I did a quick scan of our Team Orange members, and combined we are down about 25 pounds for the week!!!! And that's not counting 5 members whom I may have missed or haven't posted quite yet!! keep up the great work teammates!!!
Jodifer: I'm confused too about what the best balance of carbs, protein, fat is for weight loss. I've decided that I'm not going to worry about that too much right now, and just concentrate on calories down/activity up to get started. Those who are farther along on the weight loss journey could probably offer better insight.
M
I am down a pound! Yay! I am 0.2 of a pound away from officially having lost 30 pounds! So pumped!
Also I know I will lose it in the tail end of this week... I have Roller Derby Practice tonight and Saturday night, and I burn, on average 1100 calories each practice!
Go team Orange!!!
25lbs!!! We rock! Way to go to EVERYONE on a SUPERLY SUCCESSFUL Week 1!
BonBon, When you first start yes alot of it is water weight. I can tell you when you get closer to your goal it comes off way to slow!!!! I have lost about 75-80 lbs with about 20-25 to go until I hit my 100! You sound like me when I started logging my food, I was eating close to 4000 cals a day. I am now staying pretty constant between 1500-2000 cals a day. I eat small amounts every couple of hours that way you stay feeling full all the time. (Just think just one soda a day = over 1000 cals a week!) Be careful with the diet soda becuse it does still have sodium. The Wii fit is awesome, and burns many calories too boot. Y'all can try your darndest to "sabotage" me, I have heard them all! I did change my streamers from pink and white to blue and gold though. (I gotta stay true to the Navy!) ***** wafting the smell of choc donettes under Bon's nose *****
Kawnd - Congrats on the weight loss and hope you made it through your plateau, I am still trying to break mine!
Jodifer - When I started my journey of loss I lost a whopping 45 lbs in the first two months, but I went drastic for a guy my size. I stayed about 1200 cals a day and worked out 6 days a week for at least an hour! I try to stay with 60% protien, 20% carb and 20% fat. All the while trying to stay under 10% Saturated Fat!
Tsc319 - CONGRATS!!!! I know you feel much more awesome without that extra 44 lbs! Keep up the good work!
Marien - Hey "I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT Too!" See what I wrote for Jodifer about the breakdown.
KJ - Remind me not to tick you off, Roller Derby Girl + Guy with Bad Knee = Guy with bad and kicked backside! You never let us know that in the other challenge! Keep up the good work!
Orange team you guys are doing awesome 25 lbs the first week. I hope my team does as well. If not as long as we lose I will be happy!
P.S. I forgot to say the breakdown is for someone who lifts weights on a regular basis, the protein helps rebuild the muscles you tear when you lift. Just remember DO NOT cut out all the fat, some you need! Omega 3's, Omega 6's and Monounsaturated are good for you. Stay away from the Saturated and Trans fats.
Green team infiltrator,
Papa
GOOD JOB ORANGE TEAM
Wow- we did good! yes papa, Im not really liking the taste of diet soda much, water is getting easier to drink. I have high blood pressure so need to stay away from sodium as much as possible. Tryed making some iced tea without sugar today- GROSS! I added a little sugar so Im loggin in to own up to it now. using my cals on drinks is so wasteful-lol, Id rather have food. So Ill stick with the water and occasional diet drink for now.
I was kind of confused about the burn meter thing, dont know if Im lightly active, sedentary, kind of active? Guess its different for me on different days. I am going to start walking at the mall next week with my mom a few times a week ( I could walk and walk just window shopping). Its sooo cold here in Michigan and I dont have a treadmill so the mall it is.
Anyway I found a link that explains this BMR thing is simple terms for me. It shows how much I would burn if I just slept all day and did nothing, so I guess as long as I eat less than that I should be on the right track.
Wanted to pass along the link. Alot of good articles and information about weightloss on this site too- Here it is

Have a good week everyone!
