BLC 9: Orange Team Meeting Place
Hi Team Orange members!
Let's use this spot to introduce ourselves, motivate and encourage each other!
I'm a 37 y/o mom of two, ages 8 and 5. I'm married to my adoring husband of 13 years. I've only been on CC for about a month now. My short-term GW is 155 by 4th of July. I would LOVE to make some friends and help each other stay motivated to lose, lose, lose!!!
Yup, jodifier that is a berner- she's huge now- 3 yrs, 100 lbs. Anyhooo, great job on the weight loss everyone. Go team orange-- BTW i knew i should have waited til now to post weight- down 2 lbs- GRRR-- oh well, if i just stay on my toes this week i'll have a deficit for next well- yaa!
I should post my berner photos. We have a male he's about 130 and a Neuf that's about the same. Ha ha...i guess my ideal weight is about what my dog weighs!!! But I'd be happy just breaking 200 at this point.
Bon, NO DONETTES! Thanks :)
Papa, Thanks for all the advice. I have lost the weight before (on weight watchers), just never by counting what made up the calories...this time around I'm trying to balance out the components a little better. It definitely makes it a little more challenging, but like everything practice makes perfect!
here's to a great week 2!
Great Job Orange Team!!!!! We won the first week!!! I'm going to go and celebrate by eating a few donuts! LOL! j/k! Everyone have a great weekend...I'm off to go snow-tubing!
Hey there Orange,
Congrats on winning week 1!
BonBon - Try switching to green tea (and no thats not because I am on the green team) it is higher in antioxidents and to me tastes better than regular tea unsweetened. That and herbal teas are good too! I may be 6'2" and 275 lbs but I do take my wife to tea twice a year, once for Mother's Day and once for her Birthday. SPLENDA is a real good sub for sugar! Something you can add to your water though is the Wal-mart brand of crystal light! No cals and adds flavor!
Kwand - I really want my big dog back but in military housing I can't have one that big. I have a Golden Lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback/Aust Shepard mix coming in at about 100 lbs, 2 yrs old and dumb as a box of rocks. He doesn't even like water!
Jodi - At my last command I had a Nueffie, got him for my Bday 2 years later he was about 130-140 then had to give him to a good friend of ours when we left because I couldn't bring him with. (the first house we lived in here was 800 sq ft and no back yard) By the time we got into the house we are in now he had already become part of the fam down there. So I got Buster! You'll break 200 I know you will.
Ang - You go have all the donuts you want, and you can take the rest of your team with you! Wink wink, only jokin'! Don't have to much fun snow tubing.
Green infiltrator,
Papa
Bonbon - congrats on being the overall winner this week! Wow!
How's week 2 going everyone? I'm down 2lbs since I posted my weight last tuesday. I've had a good weekend...I tried a new recipe for kale. It was really good. If you're not afraid of green leafy veggies let me know and I'll post the recipe! I haven't hit the treadmill yet this weekend, but maybe later this afternoon while my chili is simmering.
Be careful of green tea...it does have caffeine unless stated otherwise! I like decaf chai with a packet of splenda a little almond breeze in it to make it a latte. It's so rich and creamy it tastes like dessert and the whole drink has less than 15 calories! Plus it warms me up on these snowy days.
I show a two pound loss as well, although I'm reluctant to trust it. I really love kale. Please share.
Hello Orange team members. I'm new to the team and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kellie and I'm a 24 year old working mother of one. Started at 235 and I've been hovering in the 170's for the longest time. I've found that good company is the best motivation so I joined this group in the hopes of dropping some more weight. My overall goal is 135. At this point I would just be happy to be healthy and fit.
Good Luck Everyone!
Welcome to the winning team morningsend!
Dummie, I posted the recipe. It's called Sweet & Savory Kale. http://caloriecount.about.com/sweet-savory-ka le-recipe-r174185
Enjoy!
Hi teammates! Just checkin' in with everyone. I had an off day yesterday and can't seem to get back in the groove. The scale is still showing a 2# loss for me so far, hopefully I can maintain that for another 24 hrs or so until tomorrow's weigh in. I feel chocolate craviings creeping up on me so I need some motivation guys!! So instead I just came home from a short shopping trip to get some new workout clothes.
Welcome to the Orange Team Morningsend. It's a pretty fun group!
Jodi, thanks for posting the recipe. I actually have never tried kale.
Later, Marie
Jodi - Great job on the continued loss. Kale is like collard greens right? I will have to try that recipe. Thanks What kind of Chili did you have? The only reason why I ask is because my wife and I have found a new favorite chili recipe in All Time Favorites from WW. It is the Chuckwagon Chili. I have found I like black tea better than green, but I like green when I can't find green tea.
D - Good job to you as well, keep up the good work.
Morningsend - I am also on my way to 100, I am sitting at 80 lost so far and been sitting there for almost 8 months. (Due to knee injury and knee surgery) Good luck on your journey and you will hit it.
Marie - IT IS OK TO GIVE INTO CRAVINGS just don't go overboard! I found Jack Daniels Chocolates over the weekend and have allowed one piece per day. That way you have it factored in, and you get your choclate fix too. There is good stuff in chocolate for you so it may be your body telling you it needs whatever. Jump back in with both feet that is the only way to do it.
Green Team lurker,
Papa
Thanks, Jodi. Look forward to trying it!
wow- I didnt realize I was last weeks top runner-yay. Not very good new s this week though :(. I am up 1 lb! I havent been logging my food as Ive been kind of busy, both kids have had the flu all week, i thought I was still doing good. But not logging my food is not good for me, Im sure I went over. I will be back on track this week though.
Hey Papa, kale and turnip greens and collard greens all seem the same to me. I tried turnip greens last week sauteed with a little garlic, olive oil and hot sauce...mmm good!
I make my own chili. It's never the same way twice...This time it was "clean the fridge" chili. I used 1lb of 93% lean beef and mixed in any veggie I had in the fridge (black beans, corn, turnip greens, etc) then I added 2 cans of fire roasted diced tomatoes. I seasoned it with garlic, onion, spanish paprika, chili powder and cayenne. No extra salt, I got enough from the canned tomatoes. We like to eat it over a baked potato.
Hey Bon, don't worry about it. Taking care of sick kids is hard enough without beating yourself up about falling off the wagon for a week. Just get back up in the saddle and we'll lead you around the corale until you get back into the swing of it!
Good luck weighing in this week!
We're still on top gang! Amazing! That's the motivation I needed to get back in the game after last night's dinner out! Have a great weekend everyone!
Hey Orange teammates!
How's everyone doing over the weekend? Mondays are always hard for me to get back into after having hubby and kids around all weekend tempting me "I want to make choc chip cookies" and complaining "what kind of dinner is THIS, I'm not eating it"
But I love seeing that scale inch downward bit by bit! Stay motivated everyone. Orange team is on one heck of a hot streak!!!
Great Job Orange, you guys rock! I was just happy that my weight went down this past week! I also found out some interesting news this weekend. I am sure everyone has heard of Alli weight loss, everything you see always leads you to believe it is for women only. I found out that men can also use it. I will see what it does for my wife and then I may try it. I just don't like the thought of a fat blocker, you body does need some fat. Just thought I would throw that out there. Anyway, keep up the good work, but always be weary of who is coming at you from behind! It is not how you start, but how you finish!
Papa
Hi Papa, glad to see you back on the BB this week! I thought about trying Alli a year ago, but thought I'd save the $$ and try it "the old-fashioned way" first...plain old diet and exercise.
Marie - That is how I have done mine. My wife started it, but asked me to look at it before she started. That is how I found out it was for both male and female. If it works well for her I might give it a shot. I have been at a plateau for 8 months or so, might try it and see if I can give myself a jolt to start losing again. It is spendy, 50 bucks for a month supply! I have done well with the diet and exercise though, 75 pounds so far! Looking for another 25 to 30! Promised my chain of command and more importantly myself that I would lose 100pounds by the time I transfer. That time is fast approaching, 30 April 09. I figure about 2 pounds a week for the next 14 weeks = 28 pounds and that would get me there. Can't wait! Just gotta keep focused on the goal and DO IT!
Hey gang, I tried Alli and didn't see much difference. I think it's safe to take to get over a hump, but long term I think it might block too much fat. Plus, when you stop taking it, you run the risk of gaining weight because you'll be eating the same stuff, but getting all the fat.
It's been a rough week. I've been eating right and exercising more than ever but I'm GAINING weight! I used to walk for 30 minutes on the treadmill a few times a week and now I've been walk/jogging for 45 minutes every other day. Today I did 3/4 mile jogging and 2.50 miles walking. Mind you I haven't moved that fast since I was 10 years old! (when I started geting fat).
I know the results will show up eventually, but I really wanted to see the scale move in the RIGHT direction!
Jodi - Just remember that when you work out even if running or walking your body will retain "some" water to help repair itself. If you upped your work out this week that may explain the "gain" Don't lose faith, it WILL come, you just have to weather the storm first!
