Bleeding after intercourse!!! HELP!!

Sunday at 4 am I was rushed to the ER with heavy bleeding. I had intercourse right before and when we were done we looked down and there was blood everywhere. Sorry so graphic. I kept bleeding and when I got the the hospital it was just pouring out of me. I was so scared I was losing the baby. They did an ultrasound and the baby was fine, heartbeat was 156 and my cervix was closed. They did a pelvic exam and removed a very large clot. I didn't bleed anymore since then, only light brown when I wipe this morning. I'm going to see my doctor today. Please pray for me that my baby is ok still. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so scared!!

I'm afraid the only pregnancy related bleeing I ever experienced was not the kind where things end up okay.  However, there's reason to NOT be worried in your case- the ultrasound showed things were fine, right?  Things probably are fine.  I know you're scared - it's terrifying to think that things aren't going the way they're supposed to. 

I don't know much about clots, but if it was outside the womb, that would explain the bleeding if it were ruptured by intercourse.   Keep us updated - sending lots of ((((hugs)))) your way!

I too experienced this with my daughter twice. The doctor told me that she sat too low in the  uterus and that we had to re frame from intercourse till I was in my third trimester.I hope that is true with you also and your baby is ok.  Good luck!!

hi nenewa-  the same EXACT thing happened to me at 10-11 weeks.  i thought i was m/c.  i called my doc instead of going to the ER-  he said it happens; and then I went for my sonogram later that week and the baby was fine.  I had ro refrain from sex for a little while until i stopped spotting at all-  about a few weeks.  i just hit my 33rd week and we're both fine!  just take it easy-  what is meant to be will be; but it sounds like you're ok.  i would also refrain from heavy lifting and intense gym time since i know you like to go

This also happened me and after the scan the consultant told me that the placenta had attached very low in my uterus and this had 'irritated' the lining of my womb causing an 'erosion' (like a graze inside me?) I had to refrain until the bleeding had stopped completely (2-3wks) but I held off a little while later 'just in case'! Try and relax, I'm sure all is fine? XX

Thanks you all.  I did read where this has happened to alot of women on babycenter.com.  I feel better about it. I just can't believe something so scary happened to me. I've never had that feeling of such fear like that. When I finally heard my baby's heartbeat in the er I cried. I just want her to be ok. I feel that I'm having a girl for some reason but it doesn't matter. I love this baby already. It's real to me now. I'll keep you all updated.

I TOTALLY understand what you are going through!! I have what is called a sub chorionic hemmorhage. It's pretty much what you described, although they didn't remove my clot. (how did they go about doing that for you?). I have a small tear in my placenta that was causing the bleeding. Did they tell you the cause for your clot? I was told that my body will either pass the clot, or will reabsorb it. I had two rather large bleeds, and since then just minor brown discharge, which is a good thing. I have been on "bed rest", no sex, no excersise (driving me crazy), but will do whatever it takes.

I have forbid myself to do anymore reading about this in the internet b/c I will go nuts! My baby's heartrate was strong, and he or she was moving around just fine during the ultra sound. I know that God is in control, and am trying to take comfort in that the best I can.

Just relax as much as you can...easier said than done, I know!!! You're in my thoughts and prayers!

a friend of mine experienced heavy bleeding often during her pregnancy and her little man is a year and a half old now-

In her case I guess the umbilical cord didn't attach properly and the end was gathering blood until it became full and tipped... releasing the blood.

Hey guys! I had another ultrasound yesterday and the baby is fine thank God! The doctor said that intercourse can definitely do that. The cervix is so sensitive and filled with blood and blood vessels form in the cervix and any bump to it can cause it to bleed. I do not have a placenta tear or placenta previa which is good. She said it probably was just a collection of blood that after a while gelled up in clot form and when I had sex it burst and that's why I was bleeding. I'm so much more relaxed now and I just pray it doesn't happen again. Thank you all for all your thoughts and prayers and for posting your comments.

 

Le_cabinet- I'm an internet research freak too and I have to try to refrain myself from doing that too much or I worry myself to death too. :)
