What the BLEEP is wrong with some teens now days?
Shocking video (maybe disturbing) with some teens having "fun" with a very young infant.

Your thoughts on why these types of things seem to keep happening. Violent video games? Kids wanting internet fame?
Edit per others request (though I did warn it was disturbing in my OP) - kids are making this baby "fly" by placing it on an inflatable pillow, then jumping on the pillow.
I don't know what's wrong with some people and what the cause is, but this world seems to just be going down the tubes.
that or we're just getting it better documented and presented on a mass scale. I can't watch the video at work but i'm sure there has been worse before video games were invented.
I couldn't hear the audio, so I don't know what they said. I couldn't finish watching it. All I can say is that I hope that baby is ok and that boy faces serious consequences for his actions. Do you think some people are just desensitized? Is it a lack of empathy? I just don't know.
Should have gone with my first instinct not to watch.... For every video out there like that I can only (unfortunately) imagine what else is going on that the mass media doesn't know about.
It's a baby on a cushion and someone jumps on it so that the baby goes flying and it is horrible. I don't have sound though so I don't know what else was happening.
Yeah, I'm with Shanonna. Maybe warn people that they are about to see the baby get abused.
I'm really curious.. but I'm pretty sure I'd regret it if I watch it. What actually happens?
Yeah....wish I never watched, even worse I could hear too.
I have nothing to say!
I personally feel that even considering placing the blame on video games is absurd. I hate it when adults feel the need to do that.
Parents are where the problem is, imo. Of course this isn't always the case, but discipline sure isn't what it used to be.
& I'm sure kids have always done stuff like this, but now we're just able to capture it better. Granted, it probably has gotten worse, but I don't think you can make the argument that this kind of stuff only started happening recently. Hell, my grandmom pushed her little sister off the countertop when she was a baby & broke her arm.
I'm still up in the air about the video game dispute - my mom babysat when I was a kid, and there were lots of little boys around, and yeah, they played cowboys and indians, and "shot" each other, but never were truly violent. Now tough, my 5 - 7 year old nephews have been raised on M rated Nintendo games, and regularly beat the c**p out of each other and their friends. I think they don't realize that if someone gets hurt or even dies, there's no restart button.
Starcrossed - how old was your grandmom though? Young enough to not realize consequences? These teens are 16! They should know EXACTLY what could happen to a baby flying 3 feet through the air and landing on a hard floor. Are they just so desensitized by the media (mostly blame Youtube for these kinds of things) that they just think it's funny and don't care if the baby gets hurt?

I have to disagree, youtube is not to blame for this or anything else sick posted there, and as soon as it's brought to their attention as with this it is removed. I would say though that they should change their policy and check things out before they are allowed to be posted because this isn't the first and won't be the last. Anything found to be questionable should be given to the police. There are a lot of good things on youtube.

No, I'm not blaming Youtube themselves, I know it's impossible to police millions and millions of videos, and they are excellent about taking down inappropriate videos once they are aware of them. I guess I'm more blaming the whole "Jackass" type videos that are so popular, and it seems like so many teens want their 15 minutes of fame so badly that they are willing to do almost anything to get it.

It's totally absurd.
and uh that video is disturbing. Did they need to play it over and over and in various speeds of slow motion?
We were lucky my mom stayed at home, but believe me if she or my dad caught me doing something like that to one of my baby sisters... euh i think i still would have the trace of their hand on my face...
The problem now is that you are not free to educate properly kids... im sorry but some kids should have better learned rules... and a good slap is always good (when they have done something bad...)
Internet and Tv access to kids is also the problem... We had a cerfew at home, one hour access to internet everyday once homewark was done. Putting rules and making sure the kids follow it is the way to do.. if you cave in then the kid has the power not the parents
It's idiots, plain and simple. Idiots have kids, who grow up as idiots, then turn into idiot teens, then turn into idiot adults, who make idiot kids and then the cycle starts again. The idiot in the video probably didn’t realize that what he was doing could have easily killed the baby, because he is an idiot.

I disagree. I was spanked/slapped as a kid and it did me absolutely no good. Every child is different and so one parenting method will not necessarily work for each. I learned from being talked to and made to stand in the corner for 10 minutes. Getting spanked just made me resent my father.
I also had free access to the internet and TV since I was very young. I was allowed to use the internet as much as I wanted and watch as much TV as I cared for and yet I somehow managed to get good grades K-12 and not get into any trouble. Granted, I was homeschooled and that might make a small difference, but I'm not the only one I know that had free-range and didn't end up ruining my life or doing extremely dumb stuff.
I play violent video games, i watch violent movies but i never feel the need to replicate any thing i watch, why? because i was bought up to know better. simple.
I agree with lifeizsweet for the most part, but here in the UK anyway there are so many restrictions on parents now that most ( excluding those who just can't be bothered) are now scared to parent. There is a "it's important to allow your child to express it's self" thing!
I was in a supermarket and there was a mother with a young child (about 3yrs) that child created hell all the way round the store, screaming, chucking things off shelves, etc, the mother tried to deal with it the way the experts say you should with no effect, anyway this child's behaviour continued, the mother left the store and I was just a second or two behind her, her car was parked near to mine and as I walked to it I could see this kid just explode into an almighty tantrum, kicking the car, throwing things out of the trolley.......finally the mother had had enough, and as she gave her one slap to her legs........well what a difference in behaviour, she stood quietly waiting, her mother realised that I had seen her do it and total panic appeared on her face! as I walked by I said "I would have done that half an hour ago" and carried on my way.
What was it all about? the mother wouldn't buy her the toy she wanted.
Did that slap cause trauma, and life long emotional problems? NO! it didn't what it did was get the child's attention and let her know that she had gone over the line and enough was enough!
Sometimes getting down to their level to explain, the naughty step, ignoring it just doesn't work.
Original Post by ladyfirelyght:I was spanked as a child when it was deserved. I also had free range for TV video games ect. I very much believe I turned out to be a good person because I was spanked/disciplined as a child. And because it was mandatory that I learn right from wrong. My dad put the fear of god in me as a child. My sweet mother who would spank first and send us to our rooms followed by the "If I hear another word out of either of you (my brother) you'll deal with your father when he gets home." I'm only 28. So an actual beating was not an issue. But if I hadn't had some respect and discipline in my early years.... I'm convinced I would probably be one of those "IDIOTS" that was previously mentioned. I rebelled a little bit as a teen, but never dealt with the police.

I like the saying "More than 90% of the good people today... were spanked as a child!" Ask around.... you'll find it true. And today... not many parents believe in spanking and not very many discipline their children when they need it. I love that my best friend is teaching her kids young! 2 and 5 year old boys. Both know that the correct answer is yes Ma'am/Sir and No Ma'am/Sir. And when they pull the whining and it doesnt' stop by the third time they are told to stop, then they are told to march directly to their rooms until they can talk nicely. And you know what..................... THEY DO IT and they know what is expected from them. Some of you may read this and think "Wow, that's harsh..." No it's really not. There is never any yelling involved and these kids will in no way shape or form turn out to be in the "idiot" category! I wish more parents would put their foot down and create GOOD KIDS rather than the bratty one's that are coming out of the woodwork now. 10 years was all it took in the generation gap to go from discipline to no discipline in homes and in schools. Now if we could only get it back!!
I work with some guys in law enforcement. Even they were shocked by this video and they have seen some horrible things in their line of work!
