So... at work I had two poptarts this am, and then a plain 6'' turkey sub (300 cals) and a bottle of fruit punch.  I got home at 7 and was starving.  Hadn't bought groceries so I ordered pizza. I must have been starving because I  got the 5 5 5 deal and just ate one whole pizza (medium pizza) to myself!!! worst off I'm not even like full full like I'd usually be.  Well now what do I do. I'm 5'6 and 179 pounds as of this am. I was 222 at my highest and lost 40 lbs a year ago and still wanna get down to 145 but can't seem to commit again.  I haven't gained any back (maybe 4 lbs).  So theres a fitness center here I could go down and work out for like 1.5 hours on the elliptical and at least get my cals to almost even out. Or I could just give up for today and start anew tomorrow. At my fitness center I can do elliptical, cross trainer, treadmill, stationary bike, and weight machine. If I do workout, what should I do?  Any help is appreciated or suggestiond for getting back motivated.

Sounds like your not eating enought during the day so during the night you go off and Binge. You need to be eating a good lunch and breakfast. I used to have the same problem but then someone on calorie count told me to eat my correct meals and my binging went away! :D

As for what you have done with the calories already, 1 pop tart usually has around 200 calories. So 400 calories for pop tarts plus 300 for the sub. Thats 700. Now the 555 deal sounds like a dominos type thing so a medium hand tossed pizza with just cheese on it has 1,384 total. So you had 2084 calories total today. How many calories do you usually have? 2084 Is not so bad, tomorrow is a new day. Just start it back up again tomorrow and eat your correct meals and you should be fine :D

calorie count says I've had 2780 (the pizza had pepperonies). So you vote just start anew tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

i vote for you to just start anew tomorrow. Continue what your are doing exercise count calories tomorrow

is ok to have a break sometimes

Yes, don't do anything drastic just because you ate more than normal.  But do think about how you could avoid the same thing happening in the future.  Some obvious steps - given your story - would be

  • Have a more nourishing & more filling breakfast & lunch.  If you make better food choices and eat more during the day you won't be starving hungry by suppertime.
  • Always have a few things in the cupboards or freezer that you can turn into a reasonably healthy dinner at short notice. e.g dry pasta, cans of tomatoes, a low-cal ready-meal.

Planning or thinking ahead is a good way to prevent finding yourself in situations where you end up saying 'what the heck, let's get a pizza'.   And if you plan ahead for long enough, eventually you'll get into a healthier eating pattern that you won't have to think too hard about.

Good luck

If you crave pizza, try those big flat mushrooms stuffed with cheese, tomatoes, and maybe chopped pepperoni if that's your fave topping - they're really low in cals compared to a pizza base, probably freezable even?

I also reckon you should just pick up again tomorrow, and not try to even things out, it was a one-off and if you work out why it happened and take steps to stop it happening again, might even be a good thing.

Might be best if you don't weigh yourself tomorrow - the foods you ate were high in sodium it seems, you'll have gained weight and maybe inches from water retention, I would if I ate that and there's NOTHING more depressing than waking up the day after to see visible evidence!

Personal experience tells me that it's futile to try to make up for a bad day.  Just get back into your plan at the next meal you eat.

I find that planning in advance really helps.  Sometimes I plan and log all my food in advance, making sure I have all the things I want to eat.  Sometimes it's hard to stick to it when things get busy, but it does help to have that plan and something to follow.

It almost sounds like you're not getting enough bulk food.  I personally find 2 poptarts a lot less filling than 400 calories of healthy cereal and milk.  Also, you don't have any snacks!  WHat?!?!  No SNACKS?!?! (I know, its like I'm a kindergartener, right?)  But anyway, a couple hundred calories worth of snacks might be good for you :)  Think about it.

Just start new tomorrow.

Oh! I forgot to say this to! Get RID of the other 2 pizzas that your ordered. Trash them, if you don't see it you wont crave it as much.

Hope this helps!

I don't think there's anything wrong with having pizza but a WHOLE PIZZA? LOL.

tomorrow is a new day, we all have slip ups.  I agree that you need to eat more throughout the day so you are not ravenous at night!!

Also, don't throw out the pizzas, wrap each slice up individually and freeze them.  Write the number of calories on the outside with a marker, and remind yourself of how many calories they are they you go to defrost them.

Have one slice once in a while or even once a week with salad instead of another slice.

Everything in moderation. That is certainly the key.  I've lost 37 pounds and I haven't "given up" any food...I just don't eat them as much and I don't eat the same amount.  Now, I don't even desire that stuff anymore.
