If you're not feeling well then don't force yourself to eat.  For upset stomach BRAT = banana, rice, applesauce and toast along with plenty of clear liquids.   If you're in that much pain, I would make a trip to the doc to get checked out.

I've experienced this a few times.. and if it's anything like what I went through, I feel for you! It was one of the most painful things in my life! The only thing that helped was to eat a hot bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon and nut butter. The oats help calm your stomach and the heat alleviates the gas. You may also try Gas-X. Unfortunately mine was too severe for it to make much difference, but it's worth a shot. But really, at least try the oats. =) Don't expect it to work immediately, but you should start to feel better shortly.

One thing... Don't eat more fruit or veggies!!!! =P

BRAT... ive never heard of that before but ill try it out, would it be okay if I ate oat groats instead though I dont really eat rice...

Why shouldnt I eat more fruits and veggies? Are they bad for you? I feel a little better now ive got a heating pad on my stomach and i feel crappy but i did manage to eat a pretty decent dinner.

Fruit and veggies are often the culprit of the gassy stomach pains.  The fiber is usually the cause, but these foods are just harder for the body to break down.  Cruciferous vegetables are typically thought of as the most gas producing (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc).

I deal with these pains almost daily, and I have for a pretty long time.  Usually bland foods are easiest for me.  Avoid spicy foods (peppers, etc).  These foods typically go down pretty well:

  • oatmeal
  • yogurt
  • eggs
  • Peanut butter sandwiches
  • smoothies/shakes
  • cereal
  • saltines/bland crackers
  • rice cakes (with PB for extra calories)
  • rice or pasta
But really it varies.  If you notice a pattern (ie you get stomach pains after you eat dairy products) try avoiding them for a week.  Maybe you have a food allergy?  But really, the reality is sometimes we're not going to feel well.  But the #1 priority is getting full nutrition.  So whatever works for you.
