Hey Blue Team! And thanks for the meeting place set up betzc.
I'm Mia, 44yo's, 5'7" and 163lbs. This is my 2nd time in BLC -joined again because the 1st time was very motivating for me and I sorely need that while losing the last 10-20lbs.
Is everyone drinking their water? I want those extra points!! ![]()
Hi Team- I am Jill, 26years old, 5'4 and 136 pounds.
Goal: I would like to get to 130 and would love to be at 125 lbs. However 130 is my goal for now.
I had a baby eight months ago and he keeps me very busy. I try to get up early (4am) to excercise before getting ready for work. I also will excercise over a few of my lunches.
I have two big obsticals: one late night snacking when the baby wakes up to eat and two the weekends I ALWAYS over induldge for some reason (its always healthy food for instance last night I had three packages of nature valley granola bars) However it was an extra 600 calories at night which puts me over my calories for the day. I have been stuck around 138-136 for over five months now and I hope this challenge will give me the extra nudge of motivation to eat healthy on the weekends and ignore the kitchen at night.
I am drinking my water that is all I drink besides a coffee in the morning and if I have a pop it's only one at night. One way I drink a lot of water is I buy the Crystal Light packets and flavor my water at work. It helps also with temptation when I crave something sweet (especially after lunch) I'll drink a big glass of grape water. Another thing I drink at least two cups of green tea a day. This also helps with cravings if I am hungry I tell myself I have to drink a cup of green tea first and then if I'm still hungry I can have the snack. It at least gives me a good 30 min to think about if I really am hungry or just bored.
My goal this week is to lose one pound and excercise:
Excerice goals: Monday: 60 min Tuesday: 60 min Wednesday: 60 min Thurs: Off Fri: 60 min Sat: 60 min Sun: 60 minutes OR just a total of 6 hours.
I am a part time student going back for my MBA and my husband and I are training for a sprint triathlon (for next summer). So we keep ourselves VERY busy-
Can't wait to get to know more of you! Have a great weekend everyone!
I'm John.
I'm 50. I've lost 85# in just over a year and am 5# from my goal.
Hi everybody.
Hi Mia, Jill and John and all the Bluemates! I am Betsy and next month I am turning 50
. I started this journey July 2008 at 191 lbs and depending on what day and which way the wind is blowing, I am 7 lbs away from my goal (131). That's the good news, the bad news is that I have been on this plateau for about 6months :( I really, really, really want to be at goal by my Birthday and I am hoping the BLC 13 will be the magic number for me.
I hope that everyone kicks some butt on this challenge and that Blue will rule!
I will keep updates on our blue site as well as the main board and please feel free to pm me anytime.
It might be a good idea for people to log their challenge goals here. I found that when there used to be a calorie deficit challenge and I had to log everyday I paid more attention to everything. Just a suggestion. As of today I have: Thursday-64oz, Friday-50oz and so far this am 48oz,(Went to a double Spin class this am. :)
Sample water challenge
- week start: Thurs
thur: 64oz = 0.64 pts
- fri: 50oz = 0.50 pts
- sat: 78oz = 0.78 pts
- sun: 84oz = 0.84 pts
- mon: 70oz = 0.70 pts
GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
Hi, I'm Michelle. I've been on CC since January and have lost about 54lbs. I have had a month off.....and got back to business for a week. But, admittidly I haven't been doing well the last couple days. I hope to change that. I really want to make a difference this BL. I have participated in BL 10 & 11 as well. I lost about 24lbs just in those 2 challenges alone. I'm hoping to lose another good chunk of weight this go 'round. Will get back to business first thing tomorrow. As I've been VERY bad today. (However, I am not going to continue to be bad today) It stops now.
Hi!
I am Cece. I am 38 yrs old. I started CC back in the day when the site was very different but still so very helpful - Dec 2005. I was at my highest and about 280 lbs. The idea of hitting 300 was a big motivator for me. Anyway, over 8 months I managed to lose about 10 pounds a month and in July 2008 I "made" my first real goal of 180 lbs. (yay! 100 pounds lost). Unfortunately, circumstances led me to gain back about 35 pounds, leading me to join a challenge recently and I lost about 8 pounds. I wanted to join a team challenge for some extra push, so here I am.
Today I hit two milestones for me - I did some form of exercise for at least 30 min a day for 7 days straight. And my exercise today was to bike 25 miles (with a 40 minute break in the middle) and I have never biked that far before. I am proud of these two accomplishments. And tired. Hee!
Anyway, I want to get back to 180 pounds at least and then reassess goals from there. For this challenge, I want to keep the exercise up and I hope to lose 8 pounds since one pound a week is a good goal to have.
Look forward to being a Blue Team member!!
Cece
ETA - I read over Betz' post and here you go for water challenge: As of today I have: Thursday-60oz, Friday-64oz, and Saturday- 90 oz (I needed it for that bike ride!!), so I am at 214 oz cumulative so far.
Good Morning,
Alright looking for some help. Last night I seemed to eat four packages of granola bars! I was doing ok for my calories and that put me way over (800 extra calories at night). I'm just wondering if anyone else has this issue and how they over come it? I've even tried putting the food in the garage outside-needless to say it helps sometimes but, most of the time I walk outside into the garage and still grab a snack. We don't buy junk food for this reason so I'm always eating healthy food in the middle of the night-just way to much of it. I wasn't even hungry and I just kept eating. Any suggestions? I really feel this is why I can't lose anymore weight-I'm basically working out everday to eat at night---that's not fun! Need some motivation!
I've averaged for the week about 1600 calories a day and have burned 1900 in exercise. I am a nursing mom of an eight month old and just can't seem to get under 136.
Why are those last 5-10 pounds so hard to lose!
Have you taken a look at what you are eating and when? My fitness advisor is having me eat some protein right before my work out then some carbs after. It seems to be helping with cravings. I am not a late-night snacker, mine is more about 3:30pm...
Also for me, right before my menstrual cycle I am an eating machine and I can't seem to find anything that satisfys the craving - not sweet, not salty. Does any one else get this?
Unfortunately, I hate water - even with the Crystal lights. I am not doing too well: 48oz, 56oz, 40oz, 48oz, and a whopping 16oz yesterday - does beer count :0)? Hoping to finish the week strong but I haven't had any water today yet :0(
Go BIG (hopefully smaller soon) BLUE!!!
Tracy
Jillian, I don't see anything wrong with eating at night as long as it doesn't cause sleep problems and you don't have control problems (maybe you do because you ate not just one serving but 4 servings? - but also maybe not, because those things aren't very filling).
I understand eating at night because I like to do the same while I'm relaxing and watching tv or reading. At first I tried to fight it, to not eat anything after dinner, but I got tired of that real quick and don't see the point in torturing myself! Now I just save some calories for the evening - and it doesn't matter to me if it's junk food or healthy food, I just eat whatever I feel like eating- but I take responsibility for it and account for it in my daily calories. Sometimes I eat a plate of finger foods - sliced grapes, carrots, raisins, almonds, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc. Other times I eat a 1/2c 100 calorie icecream in a 20 calorie cone. Depends on how hungry I am, how many calories I have allotted and how strong my sweet and/or salty tooth is that night :)
I do want to point out that I wouldn't consider Nature Valley Granola bars to be an even remotely healthy food. #1 - they're very high in sugar. #2 - for a whopping 180 calories the only 'health' they provide is a mere 2 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein. It's junk food masquerading as a healthy snack.
WATER- that one was tough for me, I was used to drinking diet pop all day long, not water. But conquered that one months ago and I now drink at least 68 ounces every day (my water bottle holds 17ounces & I fill it at least 4x)- the dang bottle is practically velcroed to my side, had to learn the habit of taking it with my at all times.
Clinder, I took up biking this summer and really love it. But I still struggle with getting in daily exercise, it's hard and I don't like it much (lol, how's that for an excuse?!). You deserve to feel very proud of your exercise accomplishments! 25 miles, wow!
2 days till weigh-in starts - Go Big Blue, We Rule!
I also don't see anything wrong with eating at night but, it's mindless eating is the issue. I'm not even hungry just "bored" I think if my baby wakes up to eat I'll feed him put him back to bed and then go listen to the monitor (which is in the kitchen) Ah Ha maybe that's the problem...maybe I need to move the monitor to a different room-that's an idea- sorry just thought of that! Well going to see if that helps any this week. It's just discouraging because I will eat so good all day long and then it's the night hours that really get me.
I also ALWAYS have a refillable bottle of water with me at all times. Everyone makes fun of me because it's always with me but, who cares it makes me drink water. :) Have you ever tried putting lemon juice with a packet of splenda in your water...that's good especially on a hot day.
Good Luck everyone!
Hey all,
Ended up with Sat. 74oz. Jill since you are a nursing Mom, do you think maybe you are not getting enough calories? I know that with my second (who was a much more aggressive nurser than my first) I found the weight loss to go faster when I fed myself a little more. Of course that was 18 years ago so.....I know what you mean about taking things out of the kithcen though. We gave my older daughter the TV out of the family room to take to her first apartment which left us with the TV in the kitchen. My routine changed to turning off all activity in the kitchen and not really thinking about food, to WooH Hoo... Kitchen's still open! Don't get discouraged. You are handling an incredible amount of responsiblitly right now with young kids and work. Be kind to yourself and maybe you'll find that certain something that will tell you that all is good just as it is, don't look for perfection, there is no such thing. We are HUMANs!
Have a good Monday Blue!

Hey Tracey... Not to question your trainer, but I have always heard the opposite. Good carbs before a workout and plenty of protein after. (I don't mean a big steak, but I am a big supporter of protein shakes and whole wheat bread with natural peanut butter. ) Especially at my age because my bones need it. My husband is a marathon runner and lives by the same principal. He claims protein helps the muscle rip that long miles create. Check it out if you can. I would be interested to know if the theory is different. :)
Hello, Blue teammates!
I'm 40 yrs old and started CC exactly 2 years ago today. It's hard to believe it's been that long. I did pretty good the first year. I lost around 35 lbs but then gained back 10-15. I've slowly almost gotten back down to my low from last summer and now need to stay motivated to get even lower. I always have the hardest time during the summer/fall when my schedule isn't as predictable.
Water: I don't usually have a problem drinking lots of water. So far this week 64oz, 72oz, 88oz, 72oz, 88oz and 40oz so far today.
I didn't have time to read all the post but will be back this evening to get caught up.
Hey all! I am 32 yrs old and joined cc about 6 months ago. I have lost 25lbs and plateaued. I haven't been trying as hard cuz I got sick of the plateau. So I gained 5 back and ready to start going again.
Of course I have been sick all weekend and when I should be drinking lots of water I am drinking tea instead. (Hot stuff to make all the stuff move!)
Thurs 64 oz, Fri 99 oz, Sat and Sun maybe 16 oz.
Tea works acomley, it's fluid, tea leaf steeped water, and you need a warm drink when you're sick. Getting extra fluid is so important, especially when you're fighting congestion, so just take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon.
just took a peek at the BL thread - unless you like heavy breathing, don't look at next weeks challenge ![]()
It hardly seems comparable that you get the same amount of points per ounce of water consumed as you do a minute of cardio. Had I known, I would have drank twice as much the past five days!! Hee!
I do about 40 minutes of cardio a day and this will hopefully help me keep it up this week. Now of it was 1 point for every 10 minutes, that would be more like it!
Hey Blue team, I'm a chicken and won't be weighing in until tomorrow but I am seeing really impressive numbers so far!!
Augette!!! 5.5lbs Gdouble!!! 5lbs and Tracey!!! 1.6lbs. Great job mates with both the loss and the water! Let's keep it going everyone! See you tomorrow
DOn't forget to weigh in Blue team!!! and record your water amount...NOw on with the exercise!
Good job on the losses everyone!
Hey Blue team! Just thought I'd drop in and say Hi and great work everyone! Last week was likely a fluke since I gained a bit from the Labor Day excess. But I'm happy and look forward to completing this!
