Blue Team Thread for TBL Part 7!!!!!!! COME ON IN TEAM BLUE!!!!
I didn't see a thread for our team so I started one! If there's already one please point me in the right direction, if not, let's get going and losing those pounds for Team Blue!!!!!!
So I am thinking that a lot of my "gain" from vacation was water, I know I can't lose 4 pounds in 4 days (scale says I did) so it must have been water. I am not going to officially weigh in until tomorrow morning though because I want to be sure the scale wasn't lying. I have been really trying to make up for the bad eating on vacation and I spent 45 mins on my cross trainer and an hour on Tuesday playing tennis along with my walks so I hope I can make you guys proud tomorrow at weigh in :)
Papa- I am so glad you are with us . Iam always amazed when I hear how people have lost more than 100 pounds. I have lost 50 twice in my life because I got too big and both times, it seemed like a long journey. I am doing so again, but it is sooo slow. I can't imagine how slow a hundred must feel when the journey begins. I admire you and Rockingrandmafor your sticktuitiveness and successes to date.
MSNelson- You are doing the right thing with making just enough and no more. I was doing the same thing with Subway sandwiches for a while, thinking I could get a foot long and save half for lunch the next day, I ended up spending money on lunch and eating the other half the same night. A double wammy! On the nights I cook, a trick I have learned is to microwave a big bag of broccoli (misted with buttery flavored spray) or pull baby carrots out and while I am cooking for the boys. I munch on them so by the time supper is ready I am half full already. Maybe you don't like broccoli or carrots, but I suppose popcorn or rice cakes would serve a similar purpose.
See you guys tomorrow for the "day of reckoning" ta-ta until then
AHHHHH I FORGOT TO WEIGH IN! Sorry guys! I'm down another 2 lbs but oh well, it'll show up on next week's weigh in.
Grats to the rest of you! Great job so far!!
Edit: Grandma and papa - I have 100 lbs to lose too, so we're in it together. :)
I am a day off. I started work on Tuesday this week and I am all off kilter. I guess technically I missed the weigh in, but I am now 190 pounds for two days. The 4 pounds I gained are gone and I will call that my official weight for this week. I will try to keep my days straight and weigh in by Thursday next week.
Thanks for being patient with me!
Adarmody - First let me say that just being here and watching what you eat while making the effort to get to the gym (or the tennis court) I am proud of you. The four pounds was water weight, I can lose up to about 6 pounds in one hour in the gym going hard. The next day though I am right back up where I was the day before, but down a tenth or two. I haven't lost 100 yet! I am getting close and it is the last 15 that is the most annoying! The slower it is the more apt you are to keep it off. Losing it slow is when you train yourself on the correct way to eat and working out. It may help in the beginning to step on the scale only once a week. Later on like I am now, keep measurements as well as weight. Doing this will show you that your weight may not be changing but the measurements will. In our four weeks of this challenge I have only lost 1 pound, but have lost an inch off my waist.
Kukua - No worries, just as long as you don't miss three in a row then we are all good! Great job on losing another 2 this week. Hey we are all in this together. I may already be close to my 100, but I am right there in the trenches next to each one of you! If you need a little motivation just ask for it and I will get to you as soon as I can.
" Stick to your goals, and don't waver. The more you re-write your goals the easier it becomes to change them. "
Later ladies,
Papa
It has been a couple of days since I "checked in". Hope all is well with all my BLUE team mates.
Papa, hope your knee heals well and fast. I had knee surgery a little over a year ago. I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to be as mobile as you would like or at least are used to being. God Speed.
To all out there will little or a lot to loose, GOOD LUCK to all. And Thank you to all who are out there to give support to others when they need it.
Keep up the good work BLUE!!!
hey blue team!
i hope everyone is feeling great and looking greater! i usually weigh in on tuesdays, but im not going to be able to weigh in until thursday...but good luck to everyone else! we're three weeks into the challege already! can you believe it! i have to admit that i havent been doing my best. i've been working really hard in the gym, but i havent altered my diet all to much, so my hard work is being cancelled out by poor choices. BUT today is a new day and im setting my mind right and kicking it into high gear!
well, ive got to go take my final test for my summer course! wish me luck!
Hi All!
Sorry I haven't been on lately but I've been busy getting ready for the wedding! I still can't believe it's only 4 days away! There's still so much to do! I'm weighing in on Thursday morning because that seems to be when my weight is cycling and I want to get the most out of the week's weight loss! I've been working pretty hard between going to the gym and working out at home. I'm using my treadmill to do the Couch to 5K Program and I'm on Week 3. It doesn't seem to be that hard yet, but I looked ahead to next week and I think that's going to be when it gets hard.
Congrats on the 100 pounds papa! I've got about 50 pounds to go for my goal but if I make it to that one I may try for 10 more. We'll just have to see. Right now I'm about 10-15 pounds from my first goa (that will be leaving obese and just being overweight), so that's what I'm looking at now. The only problem I forsee is the wedding because it's being catered by one of my favorite Italian restaurants so we'll see. Maybe I'll be too busy to eat! LOL! Anyway good luck and happy losing all!
Pam
Rockingrandma - Thank you for the well wishes, but I am glad they are finding it now instead of the day my knee totally went out. At least I will get it fixed before it may have been hurt beyond reconstruction. I have the will power to be back as quickly as my body will let me. If I was 20 I would push my body to the limits, but know that I am a little older I think I will let my body decide how hard I can push it. I will be back though and stronger than ever. Again, thank you for the encouragement and support, your AWESOME!
Alilou1087 - Yep we are three weeks in and everyone is doing great. Ok, first don't worry about not being able to weigh in until Thur, that is why we are giving three days to get weighed in. I always weigh on Thur. It is just my routine (for the second challenge now) I am going to tell you like I tell everyone, DO NOT APOLOGIZE FOR THE SHORT COMINGS, we all have them, if we didn't we would not be here at CC right? You can come here and be yourself, tell us what may have caused the short fall, and then you not only get it out, but you teach yourself at the same time! The next time you are in the same situation you will remember this writing and will decide differently! GREAT MIND SET!!! Today is a new day! Pump up the will power and kick it into Turbo! Finals, I hated finals (what am I saying I still hate finals) what school you going to? I am currently in work on getting my Bach. in General Studies, after I retire I am going back to Arkansas to work as a teacher in Special Education. (I will have 14 years experience by then, my son is Autistic.) What you studing?
Caverlady - Ok, you have me stumped, I don't remember you saying anything about a wedding. You said you went to one. Who is getting married? You sound like me weighing in on Thur, because that is when you see the best results from the week of workouts. Couch to 5K, can you find that on the internet, and if not could you send me some info on it? Thank you! I still have not hit the 100 YET! 50 that will be easy for you. Once I hit the 100 mark, can you believe that I will still SUPPOSEDLY be in the obese catagory. Good luck at the wedding sticking to your guns! I also have a weakness for Italian food, and good Dark German beer!
"Stick to your guns! No surrender, keep fighting forward!"
Later Ladies,
Papa
Ok. I need help.
Something is wrong here. I'm not doing my best, I admit that, but at the same time I'm not eating 3,000 calories a day either. Why is my weight such a roller coaster from week to week?
I could NOT have gained 3 lbs in a week. I could NOT have lost 3 lbs in a week. This is very frustrating!
I have been measuring myself and even THAT fluctuates from day to day. I try to weigh myself everyday and take an average, but it may be driving me crazy.
mon = 198
tue = 194
wed = 196
Am I the only one confused? My clothes fit better (on some days) that others and NOTHING is constant.
What can I do to kickstart my weight loss? I'm thinking of cutting carbs for a week or possibly fasting for a day, or maybe even trying something new and radical in one area of fitness that might send a jolt to my system and cause it to get working again.
Any suggestions?
- Austj020
BLUE TEAM
Start Weight: 194.00
Loss this week: +3 lb Total Loss: +2 pounds
Hi all! I hope everyone's having a wonderful evening! We are kicking back watching "Shark Week" on the Discovery Channel. I am fascinated by all things shark!
Papa - In honor of our 25th wedding anniversary, my husband and I are renewing our vows in a traditional, but toned down. wedding ceremony. We have all but one person who was in the original wedding party and then we're having a luncheon receiption at the church. I get to be the Bride again after all these years! Anyway with everything else going on that same week-end I'm feeling very overwhelmed. I did go to two regular weddings recently. Oh and I like German beer although I'm not a big fan of dark beer. Have you tried Beck's Light? It's pretty good and only 64 calories a bottle! I"m enjoying one right now!
Well got a couple of things to do before turning in for the night! Gotta try and figure out how to make boutinnere's! Take care all! Talk to you tomorrow!
Pam
EDITED TO ADD:
P.S. Almost forgot to give you that website Papa! It's
www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
I have not lost nor gained, but remained steady. I have been good girl, but I suppose the weight is not yet ready to fall off some more, so I will wait patiently. I am STILL at 190 LBs and holding, but not for lack of effort.
Austj020
I believe scales were invented to drive us crazy! I have a digital one from weight watchers. Should be pretty accurate right??? The cost, you would think so! I usually weigh myself at the same time in the morning. I weigh 3 times and average out the weights. Usually all three times comes up differently. This morning there was 3 pounds differents between the weights. All three weights are taken within a 10 minute time frame. I would have like to have recorded my lowest weight, but then next week I would be looking at a gain, so I average them out. I haven't made good choices the last few days and it showed up. As far as low carb., I tried that the first few days were good, very encouraging, then my body rebelled and it was tough. All I wanted to do, and think about was eating carbs. I have read medical reports that indicate a relationship between low carb diets and kidney and liver damage. Personally, I am not desperate enough yet to change those problems for my weight problems. I think I will just stick to better choices and exercise. You need to find what works for you. Try not to get discouraged. If you do look to those on this web site for some good strong support. Good luck.
Where is everybody????? I had to really search for the "blue thread". Hope you are all out exercising your "buns" off. I should be.........no excuses! lol
Was it something I said???? Or are you like me, took some time finding the thread because nobody is posting anything? I feel like I am talking to myself? HELLOOOOOOOOO Anybody there??????
Maybe it's just me, but the last weeks of summer are always CRAZY for me. So, I may not be active on the thread, but I'm working hard and it's really helped me knowing that the blue team is counting on my weight loss. Hope everyone is still going strong. Good luck on this week's weigh in!
I'm here rockingrandma!
Last week I was 196, this week I'm down 1.5 lbs, so I'm 194.5. I'm doing the Zone, which is based on balance and moderation. I HATE diets, but I LOVE this one, because it teaches you how to think about food and eating vs. giving you a list of good foods and bad foods.
It uses "favorable" vs. "unfavorable" and includes why each is on each list. And, if you WANT to eat unfavorable foods (which we all do) then it shows you how much is a portion and how you can train yourself to eat less of the unfavorable food than you're used to by supplementing it with other healthy things. Yes, it's all the things you know, but it helps when someone charts a course for ya.
I'm also taking Kickboxing at my Gym now. YAY! So I'm going to kickbox every week. I'm already seeing a difference after two kickboxing classes in two weeks. It's REALLY hard though, and I'm usually the one that stops and takes a break in the middle like 5 times! At first it was embarassing, and still is sometimes, but until I'm used to it, I don't want to DIE...so I'm going to take it easy.
How's everyone else doing?
Austj020 - First, try not to weigh everyday. That only tends to discourage people! There are a lot of factors that go into your daily weight. How much exercise did you do? How much water did you drink? How much salt was in your diet yesterday? Ladies, is Mom visiting? and on and on....... If you are looking for results then weight yourself once a week, period! Once you get to were you are comfortable and understand how the body interacts with everything and you can look at the scale everyday WITHOUT getting discouraged DON'T DO IT!!!!! I can get up in the morning weigh in at 263, have breakfast =265, go to the bathroom =264, have lunch =268, go work out for an hour =261, dinner =265, bedtime =264. That is just in one day. The only time I weigh now is before I work out and after I work out. I can literally drop 7 pounds in ONE HOUR! I do this to make sure I take back in enough water to replenish what I just lost during my workout. LISTEN TO ME RIGHT NOW, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!!!!! Stick with it, weigh once a week, and you will see your goals attained. I have found what works best for me is a diet that is approx. 50% Carbs, 30% Prot and 20% Fat. With the fats do the good fats (Mono and Poly unsat, Omega 3 and Omega 6's). For the Carbs use the Glycemic Index, try to keep your carbs to the ones that will NOT spike the sugar content in your blood. DO NOT FAST, DO NOT TRY TO STRAVE YOURSELF! The only thing that you are going to do by doing that is make your body go into shock and it WILL NOT let go of your fat! OK, if you are serious about getting "RADICAL" go see your doctor, go see a dietician/nutritionalist, and a trainer get ALL aspects of going radical in place before you do it! That way you are doing it safe. Believe me you do not want to get into toxic levels of poisons in your body if you are going drastic without supervision. I lost 45 pounds in about a month and a half by going drastic, but I had a doctor's supervision. I did not go to the nutritionalist the Navy wanted me to go to (Why? Because on my first visit I was telling her things she did not know) and the trainer I went to see wanted me to do nothing but Yoga and Pilates! If you want to talk to me on a more personal level shot me an email. I can give you some insight offline. Best way to get your information is DO IT YOURSELF!!! Inform yourself and you will be just that much more armed when you go talk to the doctors. JUST REMEMBER YOU ARE GOING TO REACH YOUR GOALS!!!!!!
Caverlady - I love sharks, I have caught a 4 ft nurse down by Corpus Christie, TX before. Cool, awesome and Congrats! I also am willing to bet you once again made a beautiful blushing bride! It is so cool that you have all but one from the original wedding party that are going to participate again. I don't really like Beck's, it just has a funny flavor to me. My darks are anything darker and including Ambers. Yes, I know they are the "heavier" and "caliore dense" beers but that is what I like. Ok, maybe they do only have 64 calories, but the question is "How many do you drink in one setting?" In the long run you may be drinking as many calories as I do, because of the difference in number drank! Thanks for the website, when I get my knee back under me I will try it.
Adarmody - It has taken me almost three years now to shed the 90 that I have lost so far. Slow and steady is the best way. Why, because taking it off that way you learn the right way to lose. You are doing it the right way and don't waiver from it. Keep going strong and it will come off eventually.
Rockingrandma - You are right about the carbs. Our bodies need carbs to run! That is the reason why I was telling Austj020 that when chosing carbs get the ones that will do the most good for you. The ones that will not spike your blood sugar (as much) are the better choices. When you were brought up like me, a good ole' Southern boy who LOVES his meat and taters! Tell me your takin' my carbs away from me and we goin' to war! One of the reasons (I think) for the liver and kidney damage is the fact that when you cut carbs you dramtically increase fat (both saturated and unsaturated). We are still around, I just had a very busy weekend and I have been nursing a bum knee now for about three weeks.
In_her_shoes - The last weeks of summer do seem to be the most hectic. Though for me it is ALL summer long. Going to school, working full time, being a Cub Master (Boy Scouts), playing softball, and coaching Special Olympics, some days I don't know when one day ends and the next begins. I am working as hard as I can right now, and if I make it through my knee problems without gaining anything I will be so happy!!!
Now, on to what you ladies have been reading about. About a month ago I was playing in a softball game and my knee popped. I didn't think anything of it as it had done that a thousand times before. Give it a couple of days and it will be fine. Well, two and a half weeks later it was still swollen and hurting. Went to the Doc, and was told all of the stability elements on the outside half of my left knee are non-existant. She also told me that if I had not been wearing my knee brace when it popped that I would probably have torn everything so bad that it would take more than one surgery to completely repair it. Now, I have been told to take it easy. I continue to use my Wii FIT (it does give you a decent workout). I go in for an MRI and Xrays next week and Ortho the following week. I will keep everyone up to date on it. This could not come at a worse time, seeing as I only have another 10-12 to lose before hitting 100!
&nb sp; Those of you that may talk to the Big Man upstairs and go to his house every weekend, please remember me for your prayer list. I need all the prayers I can get right now. Thank you my extended family. I am here for you as I know you are here for me.
Later Ladies,
Papa
"Don't sweat the small stuff, let God deal with it!"
Sorry to let you down guys, but I didn't lose anything this week. What with all the celebrating, I guess I'm pretty lucky I didn't gain! Well there's always next week, right? I will redouble my efforts and try not to remain stagnant for next week's weigh-in. I had hoped to be out of the 180's and into the 170's by now but alas it's not to be.
Papa - I have added you to my prayer list.
Take care all!
Pam
HI team Blue,
I just averaged out each teams weight loss efforts. So far we are averaging about 4.9 lbs lost per person. The top team is at 5.8 and the bottom team is at 2.8. This is only 1 lb./ person more that each of us need to do to take the lead for this month. Anybody up for the extra effort and challenge?
I have committed to beginning a regular exercise program for at least 4 days per week. For me, this is big! I usually don't take time for myself, I am always doing things for everybody else in the family. I am finding I really like "treating" myself to MY TIME.
LET'S TAKE THE LEAD!!!!
I'm game! I feel like I let you all down by not losing any weight this week so I plan to redouble my efforts this week and try to make up for it! I already work out most every day so I'm going to try and push it a little harder this week and hopefully that will help!
GOOOOOO BLUUUUUUUUUUUE!!!!!!!
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
