I think I am confused... I thought BMI was the same as body fat %. When I use a BMI calculator online it says I am 23%. But when my personal trainer did my last Fat % assesment by measuring skinfold she said my fat % was at 26%. Are they the same thing, but the skinfold test is more accurate, or are they two totally different things? Thanks!

BMI does not equal body fat %.

Muscle weighs more than fat, which is why a lot of body builders have BMIs that put them in the "morbidly obese" category.

Body fat percentage equals body fat percentage.

BMI is simply a linear model that is designed to provide a healthy weight guideline for the average human. A body fat percentage of 26% means that you're 74% lean muscle mass. A BMI reading of 23% means that you are in the 23rd percentile of the populations weight at your height - 22 % of population weighs less than you, 27% of the population weighs more than you.
Thank you very much for clearing that up for me!!! It makes perfect sense now! :)
