I am sooooo excited because my husband just bought me a "Body Bugg" from 24 hour fitness.  I can't wait for it to get here in the mail!  It is supposed to be the most accurate calorie burner estimator next to the dr's office tests.  It will tell me how many calories per minute I burned in a day, how many steps I have taken and I can log my food into the program and see the difference between what my body consumed and burned! I read reviews that it makes people want to exercise more so they can see more calories burned...can't wait!!

So I'm wondering... Do any of you have the Body Bugg, and what do you think of it? Would you spend the money if you had it to do over?

Excitedly awaiting!

Nicole

My boyfriend lost about 25 pounds in 6 months on that thing. He changed the measurments and let me use it. I have a hard time remembering to put it on, but it is kind of cool for someone who is just begining to count calories. For me, it is stuff that I already knew from this site. It is pretty cool, but I only needed to wear it for a week to figure out pretty much how much I burn and how much to eat. If you are just begining fitness/nutrition I think it will be very helpful!

Hmmm.... I"ve already lost 95 pounds! lol I guess it wont be helpful in terms of learning HOW to lose weight... but I just want to see how much MY body is actually burning... and I think it'll help me to want to burn more when I know it is goign to be IN MY FACE at night when I do my calculations! We shall see!

Sounds like a good product, but there's the price! And that doesn't even allow you to use their website/program to see the results. Sure, for the first 3 months, but then you have to pay the rest of the time. I give it about a year before some other company makes a similar or better device. Technology only gets better and cheaper if you can wait for it.

For now, I'm just going to stick with CC+.

It's a great idea... but it's oh so very expensive. :(

I stayed away from this because of the price and the fact that I'd have to wear a bulky device on my upper arm all the time. I did hear that they are really accurate though. I noticed that everyone on the Biggest Loser wears them. I'm getting a device called the FitBit when it comes out. It's a tiny thing that you clip to your clothes and it uses motion sensors to tell how many steps you take, and how many calories you burn. It's only $99 but it doesn't come out till Dec./Jan. Hope you love your Body Bugg!

omg im so jealous!!! i really want one of those but there sooo expensive, be intrested to see how you get on with it,perhaps your post and let us no??

OMG ... I've never seen this before!!! Now my obsessive compulsive A-type personality WANTS ONE!!!! And it will probably tell me the same thing that this site does within a couple hundred calories - LOL.

<Going to order one .....>

Yea i'll stick to my polar f4. its not as expensive and its does an accurate job

I've had a bodybugg for about 6 months. In the beginning, it was avery useful tool and the web program (that you have to pay for after the first three months) is a LOT like this site. I wasn't wearing it for a while since like others said after the first month or so you get a pretty good idea of what your burn is. I've lost some weight recently, so I started wearing it again since now my burn is different. I feel it is a very acurate tool and I like that I can see what I burned while cleaning the house! :)

Also, I work with a trainer at 24hr, and together we can log into my account and he can see what I burned not just on days I worked out with him, but on my own and days where I didn't hit the gym. So it sure keeps me accountable not just to him, but to myself! I would recommend, if you didn't already, to purchase the "wrist watch" counter thingy (I don't know what it's called) It's a little thing that you can either wear on your wrist or clip to your clothes that gives you real time updates on your burn and steps throughout the day. It syncs with the body bugg. Also, I don't find the bug itself to be too bulky, though I don't wear it on a night out, for example. Not exactly fashion forward :)

I have one.  It is a very useful tool.

Its good to have for a few weeks to see what you're burning in typical days.  Then, unless your weight/body composition significantly changes, you really don't need it anymore.

It does help to show you how a) little you actually burn in the gym and b) how important just regular daily activity (walking, taking the stairs, etc) actually is and how many calories it burns.

Some people think they are plateauing on their weight loss and say that their gym activity hasn't changed.  In reality, what often happens is that their activity is just less intense than it used to be so their deficit is smaller...the bugg can pick that up.  its a good reminder to always go as intense as you plan to.
