Body Fat Percentage
Ok I'm really nervous guys, I made an appointment for Tuesday to get my body fat percentage tested with calipers and everything. It will be with a personal trainer and hopefully after that he'll give me advice on how to reduce it. I got it tested like Februaryish and it was 26% - I'm hoping to have reduced a LOT since then (I know I've lost about 5 lbs) and be in the 20-23% range. Has anyone else gotten their body fat percentage tested? If so, what was it? And what do you do to help reduce your body fat?
I had mine tested around May'ish and it was at best guesstimate 10% higher (at least) than what yours is.
I know that I have been doing a lot of pilates, cardio and such which has helped to tone, in addition to weight and fat loss. I'm certain that when I have mine checked again it will be much lower as I too, have lost at least 5 lbs since that time, as well as have lost a fair amount of overall inches.
When I had mine tested the first time, it was 31%. Yuck. I get mine checked with my trainer every 6 months.
Reducing your % body fat is mostly about your diet. Eating leaner foods may help reduce your % body fat even if you don't lose that much weight. Also, drinking water will increase the reading of your percentage. So, it's always just a guesstimate, never 100% accurate.
I had mine tested last week at university - it was being offered for free by the kinesiology department. 22.5% - I went with a friend of mine who is very athletic and was quite discouraged when his reading came out at 10%. :(
I have work myself out at the gym and have not lost a great amount of pounds, I do eat healthy! However now that you mention it I have lost inches i feel it in my jean and cloth. Is it muscle what you get when you exercise? Is that true because pounds I have lost only about 4 in 5 months!!! I go to the gym 4 to 5 times a week is crazy...
Can particular foods increase testosterone levels?
