Anyone ever try this Bill Phillips weight loss plan? Body For Life?

I'm doing Body For Life!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I'm just such a big freaking fan of it that I like to tell EVERYONE about it. My friends and family are probably getting sick of me.....
I haven't followed the program -- not sure what I'm waiting for because I think it's an EXCELLENT program! I have the book and workbook sitting right here in fact! I love looking at the before and after pictures. :) There's another book by him called "Eating for Life." I say go for it!
I have tried it in the past and had good success with it (while I was following it). The diet is really easy to follow, and I love the idea of getting in and out of the gym within 30 mins. The only thing I didn't like was how they push the supplements. They are good, but too expensive for me.
Two and half years that is the program that got me started on my journey. I was 276 pounds the day I began to eat the way he suggested. Today, I still have some the eating habits that program helped me acquire. I am still obese, 218, but much fitter and with a completely different mindset when it comes to food.

I have never heard of this- what is it? It sounds great.
I followed BFL for about a year.. actually I still do in some regards, I follow the eating balanced protein and carbs, but now I count calories as well... I also do the workouts still.. They are quick and easy.. the first 2 challenges I did took me from a size 12-14 to a size 4. It was the best shape I have ever been in.. Now, I'm much more moderate in everything I do in regards to eating.. in other words, I got burned out. I do recommend it though, because it's a solid base to eating and working out.. You really can't go wrong.. Good luck and keep us posted.
I followed the BFL for a while. The eating plan is decent for losing weight. The exercise is more of a starter than anything else.
I wouldn't trust the before and after photos though. Bill Phillips has admitted to using steroids, and his publishing career originally revolved around anabolic steroid use. He was also secretly part of the companies whose supplements his 'unbiased' reviews pushed.
It is a decent start though. I got my dad into it, and he's been a lot healthier since.

Thanks for the input. I did it once and lost 18 pounds. I sadly gained it all back a few years later! It is pretty easy to stick too, and I enjoy the quick effective workouts! TGBROWN, it is a nutrition plan by Bill Phillips. You can get the book pretty much anywhere. I do not use any of the supplements except for the occasional bar or shake. Again, I really appreciate everyones honest experience with this program. I think I will give it another shot!
Word of caution to any bingers interested in BFL. If you can binge like I can then this isn't the diet for you. You get a free day once a week. Well.....I started eating at midnight and didn't finish until midnight the next day. I lost very little weight because I gorged myself on my free day.

No worries for me there. Though I did really enjoy the free day! I average 1200 cals all week then enjoy in moderation the treats I love. I write down when I crave something, than make a point to enjoy it on Saturday! Usually a donut in the am, a burger in the afternoon and I make sure to have dessert that night. I still chug the water. I lost 18 pounds last time I did it! Starting the free day at Midnight is a method of splitting hairs that I would not reccomend to be successful at this one. LOL.
P.S. That is what I love about this. If you measure your portion sizes and are strict during the week, you dont need to worry on your free day and do not NEED to count calories!! I love it! But not all plans work for everyone! I count the cals during the week right now to make sure I am hitting 1200!
My favorite things about Body For Life is that its not really a diet. It's just changing small things and eating healthier. I guess there are a few "diety" things like eating only the egg whites, but really its just changing to whole wheat products rather than the enriched white flour.
I also love that you can have a free day. The whole week I crave stuff and my saturdays are like a release for me. I love your idea CARIE87 about writting down what I crave during the week so I can remember it for my free day. Maybe that way I'll plan it rather than eating any candy I can get my hands on....

Lacky, well it was just that the free day would come and I would be so overwhelmed by the fact that I could have anything that I could not remember what I had been wanting! A chocolate cream filled Dunkin' Donut was ALWAYS at the top of the list!! Mmmmmm.... Man I cant wait for Saturday!!!!

My dh & I did BFL about 7 years ago with some success. I lost about 20 lbs in the 12 week program. Unfortunately, I was scheduled for eye surgery and stopped the workouts and never got back on it.
About the before and after pictures - I would be skeptical about the results. I did not use the supplements.
Overall, it is a good program that I would recommend. The only thing that I would change is the cardio - from 20 minutes to 30 or more to help with the fat burning.
I'm actually reading Tom Venuto's "Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle" which is similar to BFL but does place more emphasis on nutrition (i.e. counting calories, proportions of protein / carb / fat). I haven't got to the exercise section just yet so I'm not sure if there are any differences there.

I'm somewhat just starting this and trying to balance it with using this website.
I don't really use the supplements that are emphasized, but I do like the convenience of a different brand's light version protein shake.

Bumping this topic up as I just purchased the book yesterday and want some new feedback.
