There's also "hourglass", which is a smaller waist with equally wider hips and bust, and there's also "ruler" or if you want to give it a fruit name, "banana" hehe. Which is basically very little curve at all.

edit: there is also "triangle", which is the opposite of a pear. Larger bust/shoulders with narrower hips.

i think i'm an hourglass :|

Why the face?

yea, why the face? i'd say hourglass is the best you can be! pure feminine opinion though...

does it annoy anyone else when people are talking about body types and weight loss, trying to speak in an open-minded way and say things like, "well, some women are really thin, and some women are naturally a little more curvy and voluptuous, and both are beautiful!"  i just want to yell, ANDDD some women aren't thin at all and they have close to no curves, and that's beautiful too, OK?

i dunno, i'm not just not too happy with my body today, that's all. don't mind me.

hourglass is tehownage!!! best shape ever :))) guys love it

and you are very very pretty too!

and you are very very pretty too!

I think I'm more of a pear now.  Two years ago I was definitely a ruler though. both aren't too great

i am definitely a banana. ;D

Haha, I am a recovering banana, I'd say.
Cheer up, Erica, I envy girls who are hourglasses!

haha I am so NOT an hourglass. In no way, shape, or form.

I would be a ruler, or a banana. Not to say im stick thin, but that would be the closest to it. I have a pretty boyish frame

I have this book called trinny and suhanah dress for your body shape (based on ayk tv show but it is pretty good) They examine 12 diffrent body shapes and reckon there are diffrent shapes like the brick, lollipop and vase ect and variations of the pear, apple and hourglass too.

Its a pretty good book as they give great advice on how to dress for a paticular body shape to and what to avoid it might help though i dont know how easy it would be to get hold of in US.

I'm a beachball... or apple I guess...

What shape would it be for me? My shoulders are pretty much even with my hip width and in between it sort of curves in...I'm thinking maybe like an hourglass just not as well defined?

Well, just looked it up and apparenly I'm an oval shape. But my waist really isn't as big as it looks..it's just hidden by that roll of stomach fat. LOL!!!

I'm a little confused too. My bust is 37 and my hips are 37, so sounds like hourglass, however I have broad shoulders and biggish bust like triangle, but narrow hips (I think it's more butt that makes up that 37") and not much waist definition like a ruler -_-

Not that it really matters lol.

Like kezflake said, 2 women Trinny & Susannah did a survey and found that there are 12 different body shapes.

these are the results:

There are that many body shapes! Wow!

I think I used to be the camel-standing-on-two-legs shape :P or maybe its the bear shape. I dunno, I'm just happy to have lost the hump like protusion on my front. Clothes fit much better too. Hopefully I'm now back to man shaped instead of what-the-hell-is-that shape!

How about we all focus on getting into shape by exercise and healthy eating. I guess you can call it the me-shape. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and those of us beholding like all kinds of shapes. I'm so glad we're not all the same shape.

Now I better get back to work shape or my everything will go pear-shaped!

I'd say both vase and goblet describe me, take out slim thighs and legs from vase and replace 'no waist' in goblet with 'gently curving longer waist' from vase...that's me :P
