Body type and exercise routine - share your experience
Under another topic, Chubzie post a link which discusses different exercise routine for different body type. (I hope you don't mind I took the liberty to post the link here, Chubzie...: )

Anyway, I find it is really interesting so I want to start a new post where we can ask questions and share experience. Start with myself: I am a hourglass and, according to the article, hourglasses easily get bulky. I had played volleyball many years, and never trained with high weights/hills. I am in general not bulky but have big calves. I love hiking. Is it safe for me to climb fairly steep mountains? Should I eliminate any uphill jogging?

Oh... it keeps giving me 'spoon' ... but i'm muscular up top, i just gain most fat down below. hmm. still an hourglass, mr. quiz.
anyway... to answer your question, i wouldn't personally stop any of your activities if you enjoy them. women always seem to worry about 'bulking up'... we lack the (amount of) testosterone and, for most people on this site, caloric excess to truly bulk up. in my opinion, muscle always looks better than fat either way.
the only way to make your calves significantly smaller is to let the muscles atrophy, which is obviously a worse idea... wobbly calves aren't cool (personal experience) xD You could also stretch them properly after activity, i've heard this makes them look leaner.

Im a Spoon
Spoons typically have sleek upper bodies and have the best-looking arms of any of the body types. But, because their upper bodies are considerably weaker and smaller in girth than other body types, they're at greater risk for osteoporosis there too. The flip side is that most Spoons, because of their muscle mass and weight below, are less likely to develop osteoporosis in their hips and lower limbs. Spoons typically have excellent flexibility and are good with sports or movements that require lower-body strength and coordination. Ballet dancers, tap dancers and ballroom dancers are good examples of in-shape Spoons. They also typically shy away from sports that require upper-body strength because of their weaker upper bodies.
Thanks for the tips, girls. Yeah, definitely I will stretch my calves a lot....
I gots no idea what I am. I put on muscle easily, I tend to have meaty legs, but usually have very little fat on me. It keeps giving me a spoon too, but my shoulders are much wider than my hips....?
just wanted to bump up
Haha, the quiz says I'm a ruler. It says I would make a good long-distance runner and that I don't gain muscle mass easily. lol I'm a sprinter and I gain mass very, very easily. But I do agree that I have more endurance than the average person. I think I'm a mix between a ruler and an hourglass figure because I have big calves and my arms and legs are pretty bulky. :)
