Does your body have a weight it just won't let go of?!
Very frustrated here...I started counting calories and working out at the beginning of January. I started at 155 lbs. By February 2nd, I was at 150 lbs. However, my body just doesn't seem to want to dip under 150! It is holding on for dear life! I have been sitting at this weight since the 2nd, and I haven't done anything differently, so I'm confused as to why nothing else is coming off.
I am 5'6", my goal weight is 135 lbs. As far as activity goes, I walk 20 mins. to and from work on weekdays, and approximately 3 - 4 times a week I use my elliptical machine for about 25 - 35 mins. Perhaps I need to be more active? CC told me I should be eating 1600 per day, which I have stuck with (the occasional Indian take out and that's it
). I had put my activity level as light.
I know I probably just need to have more patience, but just wondering if anyone is in the same boat or has any insight! Any changes I should be making or anything I can try to see a little bit of progress?
Like you said, you need to have patience. It's only been a week. It'd have to have been a couple of months before it would be fair to say your body was refusing to go below a certain weight. I know my experience has been that I tend to alternate between lose-weight months and hold-steady months. I don't do anything particularly different during the months; it's just that the weight comes off unevenly. I get the impression that's pretty normal. So, keep up the good work and the scale will eventually show movement.
Also, if it's bugging you to see the same number every morning, try only weighing once a week.
Hi Caitlin,
I agree with Susiecue....try your weight once a week. Also, did you start with proper measurements when you started your new lifestyle? Are you writing down everything you eat and drink? Are you getting at least 64 oz of water daily (more is even better)? I would not discount altogether the walk to and from work, but it is more like a stroll than a power walk. So in reality the only exercise you are getting is the elliptical a few times a week for 25 min. Make those few times really count. Get that heart rate up.
If at all possible, try strength training. It will help melt off the pounds and also tone up what you have. Do this in addition to cardio.
We are the same weight/height with the same goal! Fo a long time I think my body was 'comfrtable' at 145 ish and then in the last couple of years it started to get comfortable at150-155 ish-and I am not going to let that trend continue!
I am waiting for the scale to dip below 150 too. Trying to be patient and not weigh myself more than once a week.
Alot of posts say to change one thing-exercise activity or protein ratio?_to shale things up a bit and keep your bodyguessing. 5 lbs in a month is good-I only lost 2!
Keep it up-when do you want to reach your goal? I want to by May 1st-maybe a helathy competition would kep us motivated!
I have been stalled at 162.6 for the last week myself. Usually I stay the same for a few days and then there is a drop. Just keep at it.
Great recommendation to weight train. Muscle burns more energy after all.
anyhoo, I know what you mean. I just want it to melt of like magic. (Where is that stupid weight loss wand of mine anyway?)
Hate to depress you all, but I've been stalled since last September, bouncing up and down everywhere between 141 and 137 but not going any lower than 137 and that, only rarely, despite doing everything I should be doing. If I can plug away with nothing but blind faith in physics and determination for 6 months, then I'm sure all of you can manage a few weeks! Hang in there.
