Hi all, hope your ok?
Can you give me some advice if poss please?
My boobs have shrunk, drasticly and I went to get them measured at the weekend. I was a 40D last year and now need a 36A bra. Ok that sounds ok, but this is becoming a night mare. Sinse the weekend i have tried on approx 20 bras. All different shapes, but the same size. T shirt bras, underwired, padded........the list goes on. Not one fits properly. I get this squishy bit poking out of the side, around the underarm. I asked for advice where I was measured, and tried bras with with wider sides, but no...forget it, they just don't fit. I'm gutted, and very fed up :o(
I think I will just carry on wearing the ones I have, they are a 36B
I'd love to wear Tshirt bras, but my boobs seem to be in the wrong place, that make any sense?
I'm unhappy with my boobs, they are looking more like skin flaps, not round at all and are so soft that they just won't fit into a cup, a saucer would be better!!
I kid you not. I have been to our nearest shopping centres and specialist shops, but still not happy.
I am grateful to have healthy boobs, but they look dreadful. Any advice for undies, gratefully received.

If there is a John Lewis near you go in there and be measured
you may well find each place measures you differently
dont just try on the size you have been told you are get measured in all the shops
you may find a 34b will fit you better
slightly larger cup although smaller in the band

There are a lot of supposed bra fitters out there who don't know how to measure someone properly for a bra.
Try taking your own measurements--at least then you might have a "ballpark idea" of what size you should be looking for. See: http://www.jms.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce/ExecMacr o/info.d2w/report?info=brasizing

I like Victoria's Secret for bras.
If you're now wearing an A/B cup, then you don't need an underwire, but the place where the underwire goes should not overlap the breast at all. If it does, go up a cup size and down 2 inches. Put the bra on, bend all the way over at the waist and adjust the bra until both breasts are completely inside the bra, then stand up and take a look.

yes, there are alot of bra measurers who do not know how to measure.
Take it as a guide only, go up a back size, go down, go up a cup, go down, just try loads of different bras on. leave yourself hours to search for a bra, and also try many different shops.
good luck x

Thanks for the help. it seems that I am wearing the right size. My exact measurments are 31 inches under the breaat and 35 above. 31 add 5 makes 36 band, but does that make sense?
I think this is going to be trial and error lol

I feel your pain! I haven't lost that much in my boobs, and I pray that I don't, but I have the hardest time finding bras that fit too. And to make it worse, when I DO find one that fits great, they stop making it!
As for being measured, I have never been 'professionally' measured. I checked out the link didoslament posted, and according to that, I should be a 42A. i currently am wearing a 36C and can't even imagine going to a smaller cup! Oh well, untill I get closer to goal, I'm going to stick with cheap bras from walmart or somewhere. Then, when I'm done losing weight I'll see about geting measured and get some good ones!
GOOD LUCK finding some!

This was confusing me yesterday too! If I follow most instructions, I get this:
33" around my ribcage, 33"+5"= 38 bandsize
39 bust measurment. So it says I should subtract my bandsize (not my ribcage measurement, right?) from my bust measurement, which leaves me with 1" which, theoretically, would be an A cup.
There is NO WAY these suckers are fitting into an A cup!
gaaarg!!

I am SO glad I'm not the only one!
What is a t-shirt bra?
I was having exactly the same problem with bra size formulas. I remember them working in the past, but after I lost weight and remeasured, they told me I should be a 40A... when I had been a 40DD and had barely changed (just enough to make my old bras a bit too loose :-p ). Then I found an online calculator that uses three measurements: under-bust, bust, and over-bust. This finally gave me a size that made sense and turned out to fit properly.
Three-measurement bra size calculator.
Hopefully that helps somewhat! (And hopefully the link works, never posted one on these boards before.)
Edit: I forgot to mention that this calculator is also neat in that it gives you US, UK, AUS/NZ, EU/JAP and B/E/F/P sizes, so it ought to be useful to people from all over.

In my understanding, a T-shirt bra is one that isn't covered with lacey decoration and is smooth enough so that you can't see the bra under a fitted T-shirt. Some bras are kind of bumpy because of the design and this can show through a T-shirt.
Or am I totally wrong about this?
Or am I totally wrong about this?
Yeah, that's the idea. Just a bra smooth enough to go unnoticed under a relatively thin, fitted shirt -- no bumpy laces or seams running all over.
The three-measurement calculator actually WORKS for me! I'm surprised - most two-measurement calculators are wrong.
I don't always wear "my" size. I have worn A, B, or C, depending on brand! So don't just stick with what you are told you are.
I got fitted at a Dillards department store. It's one of the best things i've ever done. I'd always worn a 36/38D. The cups were never right and and the girls were hanging down to there. Turns out I'm really a 34DDD. The first time i wore the right size, i was in heaven. Everything in the right spot and perkier than they'd ever been.
So anyway, don't give up. Just remember, it's the band that supports the breasts, not the shoulder straps or cups. Have you tried a 30-34B?

Wow! I'm so pleased that i'm not the only one with text book boobs!
Just returned from town with three bras, granted two are the same as they are a twin pack. I bought a 36B. One is baggy across the front of the cup, but boobies creep out of the side, under the arm. Bras in the twin pack, are a tiny bit baggy, but cover the boob. Weird I guess. Will keep the twin pack, and return the other.....sigh!

38B...
I'm heading to Victoria's Secret tomorrow for their semi-annual sale. I'll see if that size doesn't fit me any better! :)

Excellent! Glad to hear it helped, it certainly saved me quite a bit of frustration. :-)
