boobs after birth

Quote  |  Reply
Hi I am a mother of two at 21, and I was really hoping someone might have some suggestions about the baby boobs. I am about 5 ft 3in and weigh about 120 lbs, but I have on HUGE problem. My boobs are gigantic. I am a very small frame and weighed around 100 lbs before I was pregnant with my first baby, then I was a 36 B.......NOW  I am a 34 DD, and it looks odd. Plus they aren't as perky anymore, in fact they aren't worth the energy to carry them around. I have extremely bad back pains, and have tried just about everything to get them to go away. I didn't nurse with my first baby, but I did with my second. When I was pregnant the second time I weighed 138 lbs and my boobs were a 36 DDD. It took me a little over three months to get back into a size 5 in juniors, but I can't get into my old bras, or hardly any for that matter. I own 2 bras that barely fit, and can rarely find my size at a retail store. One is Victoria Secrets at a whopping $50.00, and the other was around $30.00. I am breaking my back and our bank account with these things. And they aren't worth it, they just kind of hang there with no firmness or anything. I miss my body and want it back. My tummy is all funky looking, because my bellybutton used to be an innie, now it's an outie and looks like another nipple. I never imagined looking like this at 21.Cry My husband says I am perfect, but I know he must miss the old me body, I sure do. Does anyone know anything to help me and my boobs? Please any ideas would be great! Thankyou, have an amzing day!Laughing

Don't feel too bad. My best friend is your height and 23, but she hasn't had any kids and she is a 38F. Since you are a DD I would suggest going to Victoria's Secret because their bras have wider bands that fit suggly but do not cut into your sides as well as the shoulder straps do not fall off. Give it a shot. I just got new bras from there--I just turned 22 and I'm a 38D--and they are the most comfortable things I have ever worn.
Heh- When I had my daughter I went from a 36C to a 40G when my milk came in.  I didn't even know that size existed.  After she was weaned I went down to a DD, and now that I have lost a little weight they seem to be getting smaller (thank god).  You may want to try (not as sexy, but better for your back and shoulders) a bra with wider straps-- also, make sure you are fitting your bra properly- I used to fit bras for nursing moms, and most women wear the wrong size.  If you go to a GOOD lingerie store (not Victorias Secret), like ones that are privately owned or even Nordstroms usually has good fitters, and get a bra that works for your body type you will probably be more comfortable.  Also, if you can document with the doctor that you are really having shoulder/back problems some insurances may cover breast reduction, if it is really a problem.

I have to disagree with you. I love Victoria's Secret. I have never had a bra that fit me this well and was this comfortable before. I would say that you at least give it a shot.

Okay-- I'll re-phrase.  Not necessarily Victorias Secret-- I have some great fitting bras from there too, but a lot of times their employees don't know how to really fit a bra properly, which is why I said going to a place that can would probably help.  Everything is worth a shot though-- whats the worst that can happen?

I would suggest first to get refitted for a bra, your breast size changes every 6 months.

I am a mother of two now at 26.  However ...my bbs are now a 36I...yes I...eek.  However all I can find is 38Hs so they don't fit right but it will do and it doesn't break the bank too much (I order them online through lane bryant (btw - check them out online they carry a nice array of sizes and they run sales often where its buy one get one for $1)).

I didn't nurse my first...and was just a DDD after that pregnancy...however my second pregnancy I blew up...I was beyond a 38H...I just kept wearing that size though even though I was falling out because I couldn't find anything bigger for a good price.  I have been nursing my second one though now and I am back down to a nice 36I (in a 38H bra though)...I am hoping when I am done nursing that I will be down to an F, or G at least.  I think I will be extremely lucky if I ever get back down to a DDD.

Consider yourself lucky to be able to shop at Victoria Secret still!!  I wish I could again.

gfriesbie-- In the store I worked in we carried up to a 50K size in one of our bras.  It was a nursing bra store, and it was awesome!  They actually have an online tutorial of how to measure your own bra size (with help from someone else), but of course a professional is better.

I was hoping someone could tell me how to make them go away..... I want my perky guys back. But thankyou for all the bra tips everyone. Is there anyway to loose them or am I stuck forever

They may go down a bit, but that's not guaranteed. Mine certainly got bigger after having children and they stayed that way.

So yes, I'll agree with the rest who say go get fitted. While rae852004 likes Victoria's Secret, I didn't find their bras to be worth the money at all. She's right, though, you can at least give them a try on.

My best bras come from Nordstroms and I always know their fitters know what they are doing. Case in point, I had a VS bra on that I thought fit but it was getting a bit old and worn out. The Nordstrom lady told me exactly how my bra should have been fitting and brought probably a dozen different bras for me to try on. I FELT the difference--and when your girls are held properly, well now that's just bliss.

In fact I just had to go shop again for new bras this past Saturday--I do like the Le Mystere (very pricy alas) and also the Chantelle because not only are they available for bigger chesticles (haha!), but they are also pretty.  32 DD here, so yeah finding bras that fit is a PITA.
Hi  Im afraid that theres not much you can do excepr surgery.  Ive become a pancake chest with having three babies and nursing all of them  Im not so unhappy with there size (IM A D now) as I am with all the loose skin  I can pull it several inches away from the breast tissue  its like my boobs need to be hemmed and taken in.  I found a surgery that will do that so now Im trying to get to 140 lbs so I can get it done
Isn't surgery super expensive? Any ideas of a miracle drug or exercise to firm them up and lift them up. I will try anything as long as no one is cutting me open.
If I knew that I would have done it  I miss my perky Breasts LOL
I have had 3 kids that were all breastfed and my breasts are not perky at all and are a lot more flabby.  I went up a size but I have to buy padded bras that help push up a little bit because they are not where they are supposed to be.

I sometimes get upset about it, but I really enjoyed being able to provide the healthiest milk for by babies and that is so much more important in life than what your breasts look like.  Great job on getting into a size 5 juniors, I only wish I could be that thin!!!  Try to look at your good qualities and I bet your husband is very happy with your body, especially after him seeing you be the mother to his children.
I could personally guarantee you if you had a substantial amount of weight to lose, you would lose some of the girls... HA!  I have lost weight twice before - once before I became pregnant with the last baby and once after, and the BOOBS were ALWAYS the first thing to go.  I would love to fit one of my thighs into a size 5 anything!  but alas...  we are predispositioned due to genetics to hold weight in certain parts of our bodies, for you it tends to be the girls... for others, it may be the abdomen or the hip/thigh area...  I saw a girl on the train today who was as petite as she could be but she had calves the size of tree trunks... I don't envy that at all...

Sorry I couldn't offer any miracle suggestions other than what you have already received about hoisting the girls up..

btw... I shop at VS - on the clearance rack in stores, and online - they often discount some of their online bra's - and as long as you are certain of the size you wear then you can get some great fitting bargains!
Thankyou for all your comments. It really helps boost my self esteem about my smaller waist, I just want the "perfect body" I guess... but I will get by, because my hubby just said you are already perfect. so deal with it lol thanks though.

Has anybody heard of hide and seek boobs?  When you lie down, they try to hide in your armpits?  Just asking.

How about shy boobs?  Instead of being perky, they prefer to stare at the floor.   Not that  I would know, people talk, you hear things...  Wink

Cry My husband says I am perfect, but I know he must miss the old me body, I sure do.

I'm sure your husband cares even more that you took such great care of your children and that you are a wonderful, healthy mom.  Even with some perkiness lost, I'm sure you look fantastic.  And I'm pretty sure that the men who love us don't judge us nearly as harshly as we do ourselves.  He probably sees the substantial size increase as a good thing. . . :P

Has anyone heard of breast reduction pills? I just found them online and were wondering if anyone has ever tried them.
My boobs went from a 36c to a dd in the last couple months of carrying my bundle of joy. ( I was retaining water, but the couldn't give me anything for it. Since it would cause birth complications.) I couldn't believe how huge they'd gotten. I had to continue to wear maternity bra's even afterwards and they were tight and fit wrong. I started wearing supportive sports bras instead. I just continued to workout with a full body taebo workout, and walking. Within a year I'd lost all my excess breast. They went back down to a c cup. My band size even went down I'm only a 34 band now. They also ' firm ' more so with time. Don't let any of the people posting get you down. Breast are basically fat, so firstly you have to lose that. Then as you tone it tightens up. Not overnight. And there is no miracle fix.  Just continue to lose excess weight across your body, with a full body workout. It will come off the same as the baby weight. If your feet got pudgy making your shoe size go up the same will happen there. As you lose weight off your body as a whole, it will dwindle in those places too returning your size to the normal. It's just the firming that takes more time.

Once you've lost the excess weight, you have to give yourself time to tone. Don't become discouraged.

I was retaining so much water, I went from 113lbs prebaby to 186lbs just in the last couple months of pregnancy.  A year later I'd lost all my baby weight, and I've been maintaining 103-105lbs since April. ( I'm 5'2 small frame. ) Yet, my body still looked like a battle zone. Each time I've felt discouraged I just continued toning. Then I finally saw things start tightening back up. It's a slow process but don't give up on it. I'm determined  to prove it is doable! If people give up they never see the results or get to be the one to share their success story.

I just tone... tone... and  then ... tone some more. I have faith that in good time it will mend. I didn't lose the baby weight overnight, that took a year. I'm realistic. I know I'm not going to have prebaby firmness overnight either. It's a slow process. The hard part is commiting to it. People forget to do everything in their power to fix it naturally on their own. By using everything they've heard and know. Through friends, doctors, other women. Ect ect. All the toning, the cocoa butter, the lots of water, the rubbing with vitamins, losing the baby weight, ect ect.  Best advice I can give you is lose the baby weight, first goal. Then tone up.  Have faith. Each time you look down and get discouraged tone some more. It's doable.

Breasts are composed of fat, glands and milk-ducts and do not actually have any muscle tissue. If you are looking to increase or reduce the size of your breasts, doing breast exercises will do very little. However, behind the breasts lie the pectoral muscles. If you are overweight, by working these muscles, you can lower the overall fat content of the breast area. Whether or not you are overweight, doing breast exercises are a very good idea for maintaining a healthy bust and upper body. Exercising this region will tone and contour your breasts. There are a couple exercises that I know of that you can perform that focus exclusively on the breast area. One of these exercises consists of holding your arms straight out in front of you at shoulder-length so that a 90-degree angle is formed with your arms and body. Your palms should be facing up as you begin to bring your hands towards your shoulders very slowly. As you do this exhale and clench your hands into fists as if you were holding something very tightly. Repeat this 10 times and do each set of 10 a total of three times.

Another breast exercise you can try is to lie on your stomach as if you were going to do a set of push-ups. But instead of doing push-ups point your elbows outwards and your hands inwards facing each other. Raise your chest up pushing the floor with your inward facing hands, arch your back and bend your neck gently backwards. Lift your belly off the floor slightly and then lower back down to your original face-down position. Repeat this 10 times in three total sets resting for about one minute between each set.

These exercises will aid you in toning your breast region and burning fat in your bust line. Although your breasts don't actually contain any muscle you can shape the surrounding area. This will help you maintain healthier and stronger breasts as well as a firmer upper body in general.
