So, i joined up for boot camp with my gym last night... been going to the gym for 9 months now, and thought my work outs were pretty intense... but last night was the first night of boot camp, and i was able to do waaayy more than i thought i could. Which is bad and good... good because, well obviously i can do it, but bad because i feel like i have wasted the last 9 months not really pushing myself!!! a little depressing...
Anyway, has anyone done anything like this at their gym? Any ideas what I can expect over the next month? its 3, 1 hour sessions, 3 times a week for a month. Should i expect to see body shape change in such a short time? Just looking for some idea of what my expectation should be...
I started doing boot camp classes last year and it totally changed my outlook on fitness. It's so much more fun and challenging than any workout I had tried before & I was also impressed with how much I could accomplish. Since I started those classes, I have lost several inches & a pants size and my body shape has definitely changed. Weight-wise, I'm at about the same weight but I've also been doing regular resistance training so I've definitely developed some muscle.
You could definitely see some changes in your body in a month, as long as you pair regular classes with clean eating habits.
That's awesome!! I spoke to a very negative person yesterday who assured me I would have no hope of getting results in a month and that i needed at least 12 weeks to see any change! I'm glad you saw some change!
And when u say clean eating... do u just mean healthy or do you mean no preservatives etc?
It's possible to see results in 4 weeks but not definite!
Clean eating = all whole foods, lots of fruit & veg, whole grains, lean protein sources, very little packaged/processed foods.
If you follow the nutrition plan the bootcamp has [hopefully] given it's participants ...along with the bootcamp...it is almost a GIVEN you will see results in one month - albeit - most of the results will be a small to moderate percentage of fat and weight loss. Bootcamps are very popular this time of year...people tend to be going bathing suit shopping during this month and leave the store and head right over to their nearest gym, tears still streaming down their faces ;), and they sign up for their 'kick start to summer' bootcamp! It is really, really good and really, really essential to mix up your routines. Often times, we have gym regulars that sign up for the bootcamps thinking it will be a piece of cake....ah..not so much...lol! They leave each session shaking, sweating and staring off into a non descript distance with a glazed look in their eyes....BUT, [most] of them return and eventually those glazed looks become more focused and more and more smiles and high fives between newly made friends can be seen at the end of a session..and most impt....everyone that works hard will def see results!
Keep it up and have fun!
I have thought about taking boot camp at my gym, but I'm too weak. I've been working out for 3 months now and although I feel stronger, I started a "totaly gym" class that kicked my butt. After 5 more sessions of that, I'll try Boot Camp.
It sounds like a lot of fun!
I will definately watch the processed foods... the only processed things I ever really eat is soup.. just on those days when I have no time to make my lunch for work. But other than that, im pretty good at making all my food fresh... thanks for the tip!
Well, I've survived two sessions, and loved them. I'm very sore, but can't wait till Sat. Last night, after a combo of 100 squats, 100 lunges, 100 starters and a 100 prison squats (with sprinting in between) I felt like I could really see results in a month - it's so intense!!
It's actually winter here ( i live in Australia) and I've signed up to try to get past that laziness that comes with the cold weather. just hoping to keep myself motivated through the cold months, and avoid the crying bikini shopping incidents, lol.
Thanks for all your replies...
Hey everyone - I officially graduated from boot camp last nite.. WOOHOOO...
Did my test again, beat my running time by 1min 30 sec and smashed all my strength and resistance training... I feel sooooo good.
Just thought I'd share that with you guys!
it is totally worth doing in my opinion, even if you think you are not that fit, give it a go, it really helped with my my fitness and strength...
