Boredom Snacking
Right at this moment I'm at work. I work at a hotel and work nights as well (3pm-11pm). This time of the day has (so far) been my WORST time for snacking. I am constantly looking at the clock wondering when it's dinner time and I get to eat, but I'm not actually hungry. It gets to the point where I'm thinking about it so much my stomache actually growls!
I'm definitely a boredom eater, and I'm just wondering what you all do to prevent eating when bored? There's limited activities to do to take my mind off it while at work. Do you just push yourself to remember why you're doing this? Is it all just a mental thing?
chewing gum & tea are my two life savers :)
It's hard to get away from old habits such as boredom eating...However, when I'm at that stage I just try to grab a healthy snack such as a piece of fruit to avoid eating unhealthy foods. So you may want to bring some fruit or something to work with you. Also, you can redirect your attention to something positive such as your goal and try to stay focused...you can do it! Yeah, it's definitely mind over matter! ~Peace and Simplicity Always~
Very helpful tips, ladies. I will make sure to bring healthy snacks with me -- it's just so hard when you're surrounded by vending machines! ahhhh
Are you drinking enough? It might be that your body is dehydrated rather than you being hungry. Try drinking water when you feel like this and see if it helps?
It could very well be that I'm not drinking enough water. I was never a water drinker before (which I know is a major part of my problem). I will definitely try to drink a glass of water before trying to find a small snack. Thank you for your help!
I try and drink water when I'm getting hungry. Like, now for example! I had my lunch four hours ago, and work finishes in an hour and I don't have any food with me. So I keep drinking, and it helps keep the hunger away. :)
