So I work as an ER clerk at a hospital in Perryton TX. If you have never heard of the town it is because it is super tiny. My husband and I moved back here to his home town to make some extra money while he works for his dad. So instead of doing nothing at home I decided to get me a job where I do nothing. HELP I am on the computer constantly, I think i have played every known online game. I know that i could read a book or something but if you have any ideas please feel free to suggest!!!
You're lucky! Be happy that you're getting paid to be bored! :) My Sunday job is the same- but I love it- I just keep reminding myself that I could be at a more stressful job putting up with too much to do in too little time....like my weekday job, lol.
Do you knit? That might be a productive way to pass the time!
I get bored at work too which leads me to snack or think I'm hungry when I'm probably just bored. Has anyone come up with a way to avoid snacking all day at their desk? I try to satisfy my craving with some type of flavored tea, but the more I think about trying not to snack the hungrier I get. I suppose a good start would be emptying out my drawer full of snacks at my desk that call to me all day!
I went through a huge phase of snacking a lot at work. In order to avoid snacking on less healthy foods, I would bring snacks like raw celery sticks, baby carrots, an apple, and/or a peanut buttter sandwich on whole wheat bread cut into halves. I made sure not to bring any money for vending machines and avoid keeping other snacks at my desk. So when I felt compelled to munch, I would each my fruit and veggies and PB sandwich. I also did (and do) drink A LOT of water throughout the work day which helps make me feel fuller for longer (or at least I think it does). So, idk, even though I was eating alll day, at least it was helping me get my fruits and veggies in, because I still have a hard time making sure I get enough servings in.
And in response to the original post, freerice.com is an awesome site to visit. You get quizzed on vocab (or geography, math, art, or languages) and for each question you get correct, 10 grains of rice are donated to the hungry. So it helps pass the time and it helps out others, too.
Great suggestions syc212. I never heard of that free rice site, what a great concept! Thanks!
I also drink a ton of water during the day at work in hope that it will satisfy my need to have something in my mouth. Chewing gum used to help but now I have bad TMJ in my jaw so I can't chew gum. I'll have to focus on buying more fruits and veggies to have on hand as snacks.
Why do I have yellow hands and feet?
