Born in the U.S and A.!
SO...I'm a U.S.A-er (it always seemed a little arrogant to call myself an American, when Canadians, or anyone from the Western Hemisphere for that matter are technically Americans). The US and A is cool, but there are a lot of cool countries out there.
If I could pick my parents and land of birth, probably my first choice other than the Land of the Stars and Stripes would be Canada. Mainly because they seem like USA-ers only a little more down-to-earth. I also love Rush (the band). Geddy Lee rocks!
Choice two would probably be the UK. Mainly because they seem so polite, and I love the accent. Besides, Manchester United has more history than the New York Yankees could ever hope for.
Choice three would have to be Australia. Primarily because as a kid I was infatuated with Olivia Newton-John. And kangaroos are cool.
If you could choose the land of your birth, what would it be?
EH!!!! Let the "pun" begin!
My second choice would be Venice...if I could learn the language that is.
Uh... sounds like you have a bit of bias towards countries where they speak English, but okay...
I've lived in Japan on and off for about 12 years, and overall, it's terrific. The people are nice, great universal health care, great transit system, beautiful nature. Only thing I hate is the summer humidity... I'm originally American, but don't really miss the states much, except for family and some of my old comfort foods, and in all honesty I'm really better off without them (the foods!).
Oh, and I guess if I could have been born anywhere other than the US, it would be New Zealand for it's clean environment and natural beauty, or the UK, for the culture and proximity to Europe.
Germany -- Bavaria (West Germany, I suppose, since that's the era in which I was born)
Sweden
Scotland
Wales
(eez verry nize)
India - the country in itself is amazing. I would be a completely different person (duh...who wouldn't be)
Grand Caymen - does this even need an explanation?? :)
Russia - My grandparents were bon there, came over here in the 50's..I would love to have been born there, they are strong strong people.
And yes jewels, too funny!
Tania, I got it all covered! I came to US from Ukraine, and my husband is from India.
:-)
So here would be my three non-English speaking:
India because I have been studying Hindu Dharma. And because I want a job at a call center.
Burma. I know the violence there now but the land is beautiful, the people are spiritual, and they really seem to value peace and democracy. If you got rid of the military junta, what a great place.
Nepal. Again, the Hindu thing, but also I'm from Colorado and living near the tallest mountains in the world are appealing. As I get in shape one of my goals is to try rock climbing.
I am originally South African but now live in the USA.
I think that in a past life I was Italian :) (a girl can hope) I love the place, its gorgeous, and loooove pasta...and have you ever seen so many hot people in one place??!! Everyone there is dark and beautiful and "foreign" its great!

You know, I tried explaining this to a friend of mine a few months back and it completely angered her that I would even say something like that.
Hum, I don't know....like many, Canada is a cool option but I wouldn't like being in weather even colder than where I am now. Also, being an Aussie would be pretty cool....love the accents from down under. And maybe Italy or Spain.
Ireland
Then possibly New Zealand, I think.
i'd say japan! what an awesome culture!
second, probably australia. i spent five months there during college and it really is an amazing place full of awesome people!
Kinda like Ricky Bobby..."Your in Uhmerica...we keep the Jazz in the jukebox for profiling purposes."
Okay seriously I don't know...I love so many different countries but I also don't know if I can really imagine living anywhere but here.
1st choice would have to be Canada, but French Canada, my paternal grandparents are both Québécois and I love it there.
My 2nd choice would be to be born on a little British island like The Isle Of Man.
