Does this bother anyone else??
I'm trying to lose weight, and one of the ads that keeps popping up on the sidebar is a big stack of pancakes...
I loooove pancakes and it's driving me nuts.
Hahaha that's actually the ad that showed up when I opened this.
and I usually don't notice them, but I find it funny/ironic when the side of the page is advertising some crazy "miracle weight loss" pills or supplements, which is basically what this site is against.
I'm a marketer's nightmare. I usually don't even notice the adds. Even if it pops up and covers the text I'm trying to read, I couldn't tell you what I just closed.
those stupid diet ads annoy me SO much.
in some of them, the before and after pictures don't even show the face of the person.. so it's probably two different people! even right now, there's an add below me that says "how to lose 35 lbs fast with no dieting!"
I hate the stupid ads too. But CC doesnt have any control over them, About.com does. Im sure if CC did they wouldnt have ads on 'how to lose 35 lbs fast with no dieting' like the above poster said (thats the one that gets on my nerves the most too!). But remember, without these ads, CC wouldnt be free, so I am more than willing to put up with them as long as I can use this great service for no money.
About.com should at least pick a better sort of ad. All of them have to do with health or food or other nonsense things.
The pancake one isn't even for food! It's for frying pans! I don't need any frying pans, so really all the have done is show me bad food temptations. grrrrr
I agree with keb, throughout the past few months I have benefited in so many ways from this site, not just by losing weight but by eating healthy. Frankly, I don't care who pays them to post banners on their site. As long as I can continue using this site for free.
On another note, these ridiculous ads motivate me to do it the right way because short cuts are never the answer and these ads just remind me of that fact. ![]()

^^ I agree, they motivate me to NOT use fad diets. Besides, I'm not a supermodel, and I personally don't want that body, so screw you Oprah, I won't eat acia berries for 10 days to look like Kim Kardishan and lose 35lbs...because I DON'T WANT TO end up 10lbs heavier, sick and broke in 2 weeks.
And for a free service, I can look the other way, because I know better.
(I have the lose 35lbs quick ad right now...it's recommended by CNN you know...*rolls eyes*)
Ah bugger, i didn't see a stack of yummie pancakes. I got a lovely ad about...bladder problems. Nice...![]()
I dont see any of these lovely ads you people are talking about. Not one!
I was so bold as to write "Ask Mary" about the ads for voodoo weight loss. Interstingly she didn't use my question on the site but answered me individually. I think they are well aware of the ironic nature of these ads and don't want to talk too much about it.
But they are furnishing good, solid advice and tools to us for free and if these guys pay for it there is a certain irony about that. The sad part is some are probably tempted by them and buy............having said that..........but they know where to come when they don't work. I am very appreciative of this site.

Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
