If you want to losing weight there must have been something that started you off, a goal that you wanted to achieve. One cant go anywhere if one does not know where s/he is going, so the main thing is to remember your goal

Sometimes when I am finding it hard to stick to my diet I try to remember the reasons why I started to diet in the first place. So every time I am feeling like eating just for the sake of it and not because I am hungry, I try really hard to remind myself of my goal and ask "is this chocolate really worth it? Do I really need to eat it this extra stuff? Do I absolutely need this extra snack or do I just want it?". You should not starve obviosly! but try eat when you are hungry because sometimes, especially during weekends and holidays, our eyes can be hungrier than our mouths and stomachs - which is why a lot of us snack the entire day on things we dont really need. Also try to have pauses between portions of food during meals to see how full you are.

Reminding myself of my goal really keeps me motivated. Also, don't get frustrated if your weight shifts sometimes. I guess the body just needs time to adjust.

But always remember why you are doing this to start with - and whatever happens tell yourself "I am going to make it!" and dont question how just believe that you are going to get to your goal no matter what: for example, you could picture in your head how you'd like to look or maybe find a picture of a celeberity or write your ideal weight down and stick it on the wall as a reminder. Also, let go of your frustration - and i know this from personal experience - it will only weigh you down and make you feel miserable instead of motivated. See the positives and not the negatives. Positive side is much better. If your weight shifts dont see it as a failure but as a time of adjustment and perhaps a time of rethinking your methods and starting again.

A method that could work is the 80:20 diet. Stick to your diet and eat healthily for 80% of the time and then once a week - pehaps on Sundays - you can let go and treat yourself for being good. And then restart the next day. Also, when I am at home on holidays and weekends I try to get my mind off food by keeping myself busy like reading or going for a walk or watching a movie - something that will keep me away from the fridge. Another on - rather obvious - exercise. Pick something that you find fun - maybe swimming or walking if you find gym daunting.

Sorry, I know this seems like an essay but I hope there is some useful stuff to keep you going. First steps are most important. Take your time - it wont happen overnight and if the diet is too harsh there is more chance you wont stick to it. so take it slow and weigh yourself perhaps once week to note down the changes.

Anyways, GOOD LUCK!!! Remember your goal - thats the most important thing for motivation.

thank you, this is what I needed.. And you know what? I need to talk to hubby, he keeps inviting me to eat things, he is being ppolite, "im' havign ice cream hon, do you want some?" YES I FREAKING WANT SOME ICE CREAM! but if he doesn't offer, I don't care about it.

what else is had is that twice a week I work really late and don't get home till about 8:45. and there isn't usually a break for me to eat in the evening so I get home and I'm like, eating the wallpaper off the walls I'm so starved.
