My friend and I want to start boxing.

but another friend told me he had boxed before and its reallllly intense and you throw up alot.

do you think I could try it, even though im recovering from an ED?  I'm as weak as ****, but I'd really like to get really strong and i really admire women boxers

You dont just start to box lol...   A) You wont have the stamina B) you wont have the power C) you wont have the chin or the stomach   just to name some off hand.
Also to add its one of the most demanding sports out their.  And like i said if you dont have the muscle for it especially in the stomach good luck... have your friend throw an upercut to the solar plex... if you dont get the wind knocked out of you, well thats a start ^_^.
On the other hand, if you start by finding a good instructor in a good club s/he'll get you started on getting into fighting shape where you can actually go matches - won't happen overnight or even this year given that it's less than a month left, but if you want it, you will get there.

You might get started on the strength and conditioning exercises outlined by Ross Enamait of http://www.rosstraining.com - once you have the go-ahead from your doctor.

Recovering from an ED you might have weakened heart muscle or other exercise contraindications - in which case anything from Ross is probably too rough on your system; so don't go starting anything in the way of an exercise program before you get it approved by your physician.

dude am into muaythai and i love it,boxing is a bit like it but without the legs, elbows and knees, boxing is gr8 it gives u strength, will power, clear mind,u dont throw up u dont throw up,u dont throw up,its B.S. what they r saying.

trust me itll be one of the best things ull do,plus it helps u burn tons of cals.

so id say go for it and dont think twice

thanks for the info everyone!!  I really think i'm going to.... I just have to find a place nearby that i can take lessons or something!
I love martial arts for exercise...boxing strikes me as a bit extreme as I would hate to get hit in the face.  A good dojo/training center will have a beginner's course that will introduce you slowly and work on technique and exercises to build up your stamina.  Also, they won't use you as a punching bag ever, you won't get hit except by accident until you're ready.
i'm a woman boxer, i plan on going pro in a few years. One thing i will tell you is this...

i used to have an eating disorder as well, *before i started boxing*.. now, i didnt do boxing BUT i played field hockey ... and when i came out to field hockey while i was recovering, that was THEEE MOST horrible experience of my life.. i would black out, get dizzy, become ridiculously fatigued. Honestly, if ur still "recovering" and not "recovered" for atleast a good month after recovery. Then i HIGHLY suggest you not do it.

i wouldn't lie to ya to persuade u not to go out for it because boxing is amazing, i love it. But physically very demanding, theres no way u will be able to do it while in recovery just because ur body is not prepared to do what your asking it to.

hope that helps...
