Is it a boy thing?
Do little boys need to put food in their hair? Is it all kids? Is it just mine? My 2yo has me so frustrated. When he finishes eating, he always has to rub his hands through his hair. What a mess!!! I used to sternly ask him not to do that, but he just laughs and does it more the more you ask him to stop. Now I've resorted to not making a big deal of it, hoping he'll stop when he realizes he won't get a reaction out of me. My aunt says her 7yo grandson still does it, then doesn't understand why he has to wash his hair everynight. :P
So, does anyone else have this problem? Do you have a way to stop it? My son uses a fork to eat, but he also uses his hands, so both the fork and his hands go in his hair once he decides he's done. Sometimes he'll even clean his plate, and put the dirty plate on his head, too!

Look on the bright side, at least your son is signaling you when he is done.
Sometimes you just have to laugh at the tough times. Good Luck!
I wish mine hated getting messy! Although, he does tell me "hand" after he's made a huge mess and wants his hands washed. That's a good idea about having him help cleanup. I hadn't thought to try it, but he occassionally mimicks me cleaning, so he just might do it. The other day, he vomitted after a long car ride. My husband got out baby wipes to clean off both of their shirts, and my son grabbed one and began wiping the street where it had landed. LOL! I will for sure try getting him to help tomorrow!
My son is 16 months old and loves putting his food in his hair. It's usually when he's done eating and is just playing. He gets really messy, but I'm hoping it is just a stage he is going through and will outgrow. He has been getting better lately, but has not completely stopped it. Good Luck.
It's not a boy thing. My daughter is constantly covered in yoghurt. Thankfully we have dogs.
When she does it on purpose I ask her if she's all done & she gets a chance to stop. If she doesn't, then she's all done. The dogs win either way.
