My boyfriend is an idiot
ok guys i need your help.
No matter how many facts i throw at my boyfriend he still does not believe that you need a cretin amount of calories JUST to burn fat.
he think thats just starving yourself and working out really hard is better.
He never had an issue with weight so he doesnt get it, hes not like bothering me about how im doing things(the right way) he just doesnt get it.
so i need every article, link, etc you guys can give me so i can show him.
I would love to print out 50 pages of things...going see...see see im right :)
I clicked on this topic thinking "aren't all boyfriends idiots at some time or another?" hahaha... (to be fair I'm sure girlfriends are too sometimes!)
I don't have links at the moment - but any quick google search will do - there are tons of articles on base metabolism requirements.

hes so dumb, hes like you dont need to eat that many calories, just eat one meal a day and work out like crazy.
i want to punch him in the mouth sometimes. his lack of knowledge annoys me
sometimes i think they think that way about weight loss (and pretty much anything else) just because it's simple and easy and doesn't require any thought. haha.. mine does the same thing every once and a while, and all i have to do is ask him where he gets his facts from and he shuts up really fast.

Is it a lack of knowledge (after you've explained so much to him) or is it the clash between two people who both want to be right????? If it is the latter than there is no use in spending energy to educate him. Just do your thingy to become happy and let him think that he's right. Spend the energy on your own weight loss path instead of what I call "black holes of the universe". That's my opnion after having tried the same thing with some of my family and friends....

It's funny, I opened this post just to see what stupid thing my gender had done this time, and after reading it a bit I realize what idiots we can be at times.
However, in our defense, we do get some pretty bad information as far as health and weight loss goes. I know that when I was in HS and joined the wrestling team, my coaches philosophy for losing weight was to not eat (at all) and run/workout like crazy. It wasn't until years later that not only did I realize how bad this was, but that there were ways to lose weight that were safe, healthy and actually allowed you to eat! Before then, I would have laughed if you told me how much you could actually eat in a day and still lose weight!
pfft, when it comes to GAINING a lot of guys are just as ignorant.
I'd always hear all these jocks in class like "I drink protein.. how come I'm not gaining weight?" or "I eat soo much and do 1 rep lifting 100 pounds.. how come I'm getting fat?" or "how come my leg muscles aren't getting built up when I run 9 miles a day?" haha. high school. I oughtta refer some of them to melkor for a scientific whuppin'.
