Bra size and weight loss

Quote  |  Reply

Two years ago before I put on the weight that I had been working off, I wore 34 B or 34 C depending on the brand and type.  When I put on the weight, only the 34 C continued to fit, mainly because the bras were old and the elastic was wore out.   Yeah, I know that it was bad for me, but I was a bit embarrassed to look for the next size up because I knew it was due to my weight gain.

Well, I reached my goal so I decided to go and buy some new bras as that my back was starting to bother me.  Well, it was clear that 34 B and 34 C were not the right sizes after trying a few.  So I went and asked for a fitting.  Apparently, now I am 32DD.   I was very puzzled, but the ones the woman gave me fit well and I don't remember wearing bras that felt that nice in a couple of years. Now, my back feel great again.

Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone else went up in cup size after weight loss because I have really only heard about people going down in bra size, both for back and cup size.

i've lost 16 pounds and went from a smallish D to practically a DD. i'm also really short so this is a HUGE increase on me.

i'm so so so so jealous of all those people who lose in their boobs.

Mine got smaller!!! I'm so so so jealous of you guys!!!!

wish I had that issue. I went from a DD to a very small B - too proud to say an A

I started my weight lose as a large D. I then went from a C to a B in 2 weeks.

I love it! I have no more back, shoulder and neck pain. It was awful before. + I had no idea that all the pain was related to my bust size at all, until a couple weeks ago. I can't believe the amount of pain I was in before just because I had gained weight and my boobs grew. This is motivation enough, not to gain any weight back. Kiss

Well you see cup size is dependent the circumference of your rib cage.  As the circumference goes down, the cup size goes up. There is a given ratio between the size of your chest and your actual boobs that determines your cup size.

Yeah, I am somewhat short too (5' 1 1/2").  I lost 7.5kg so almost the same as alexandrapaige.  It was more puzzling me because when I was this weight before that I had different size. Obviously, the fat moved around since then was this weight last time.   I am not sure where from before because even with the lost chest size nothing more than D would make sense.

Ah well, it is good to know I am not alone with that and highly recommend getting a bra fitting.  I think I would have been in the shop all day before I would have thought to try that size.

Its probably like morrighu suggested or you were wearing the wrong bra size to begin with, especially since you said you hadn't worn a bra that felt so nice in a couple years. I can't remember the exact percentage, but I read in a magazine that more than 50% of women wear the wrong bra size without knowing it. Congratulations on your weight loss by the way:)

The cup size goes up as the band gets larger... so if you shrink your band without changing your front (much) you'll need to go up a cup size to make it fit properly.

It may also be that you are finally wearing the right size.  Congrats on the weight loss.

Well, I think when I bought the bra, there were the right size because they fit well and felt good, but I moved to France shortly after afterwards and began to put on weight because I liked food a lot and didn't really pay much attention to what I was eating.  Massive salad with fried goat cheese and honey and oil, not really that healthy even though it is a salad and especially when followed by something quite fatty, not to mention the really good tasting fast food that I would sometimes have for dinner when I came home too tired to sit in a restaurant for a long time or cook.  I would have gained more weight if I wasn't always walking or taking the public transport everywhere.

I took measurements for a bridemaid's dress for a wedding about 3 1/2 months ago, and ask my cousin to send them to me if she still had them out curiously.  Apparently the bust was the same as that point, so I guess I was lucky to not loose much with 6 months of weight loss, other than I apparently have a hard bra size to find now.  Thanks for the congrats newbjy and notanotherxerox.  It wasn't a lot of weight, but I definately have my energy back, which is awesome.

I am sadly one of those for whom the band size is shrinking but the overall measurement is not.  I was a DD when I started, still a DD now. I may indeed end up going up a cup size before I loose much more weight. Frown  I have back pain now;  I don't want to know what it will be like once the rest of the weight is off.

Patricia

my breasts have gotten smaller, there's not much left Frown but I can't complain because I can run and tumble and be rough and not suffer physical consequences.  I think it makes it easier for me to be active.

Oh gods, you guys are scarying me.   I went on this diet to lose my boobs.   At 16  I wore a 36 C or D.   I weighed all of 130 lbs.  80 percent of my weight gain has been in my boobs and Im up to 189 now.  So you can imagine how big Ive gotten.  I don't even try to wear a bra anymore unless I absolutely have to.  They cut into my shoulders and make my back pain three times worse.

So please don't tell me your boobs are getting bigger.  My mother ended up having to have breast reduction surgery done.  The way my back has been feeling the last few days,  Im seriously considering it myself.  If they get any bigger, I think I will cry.

Well, I think it depends on the person.  After having my cousin send me the measurements again, I realised that the bust remained the same size just the chest measure went down.  It is a matter of when you lose weight the most.  I know when my mom lost weight, she lost in the breast area but not much in the hips and did the opposite so I wouldn't say that because your mom had that problem that you will too.

*points at ladykelian* I had that!  OMG!  I was 16 years old and a 36/38 C-ish D.  At 198 I was a 42DD, and right now I'm 165 and a 38D.  So I reduced but not enough to buy new bras. :-P

Mine got smaller but not by much this time,

Sidebar: WHy do they make barely A barely B and Barely C but not BARELY D (that's where I am depending on the bra VS usually)

Right now i'm 4'11" & weigh 187 my bra size is 36DD. Since 14yrs old I have been a 34C-36D as years went on. After having my 1st son I went to 38DD & since losing 17lbs I've gone to a 36DD. I dont mind losing the width but I don't want to lose my breasts. Don't get me wrong I'm not the type to flaunt them, I am a married woman but I love them & would hate for them to get smaller... Good luck to you all on your weightloss journey & Congrats to on the weightloss... Cool

I have been a 36 C my whole life... I thought I became a B when I lost weight.. Whent and got measured and... 34 C... Never been a 34 before, but was glad to be a C still  :)

I didn't getting any smaller working out.  Five weeks ago I had breast reduction surgery.  I went from a 42 G  to a large B/small C.  I haven't been bra shopping yet, because I can only wear exercise bras.  My surgeon said I can get a "real" bra at 5 weeks, so I am going shopping tomorrow. I have tried a couple on, but the B is tight, the C is big.  I am going to get measured, and hope to have better luck finding my size.  Bra shopping was impossibe before so I hope it is easier now that they are smaller!

Edit:  maybe I should try a nearly C

ellek: Congrats on your new girls. I had a reduction two years ago and it was the best thing ever. You're going to be swollen for while so even though you will be able to get into a normal bra in a few weeks your size may change after a few months. Check out Breast Health Online. It's a great website!
