Okay so I had this weird idea.
I'm going to make a bracelet with 24 beads.
Each time I lose a pound I'll take a bead off the bracelet.
And I get to see it everyday so it keeps me motivated :]
Good idea? Bad? Any comments?
Thanks :D

thanks for the support :D

Just made it :D it's sooo freking cool :]
Ugh. Sorry, but it just reminds me of pro-anorexia bracelets (reminders not to eat) I used to hear about girls wearing when I was anorexic myself.
yeah I've heard about them too.
Do it if you think it helps with the motivation. Both motivation and willpower are important when losing weight.
good idea! i don't think it's really all that unhealthy as a motivation tool. you hear about all kinds of people with magazine stacks and things like that. just don't use red beads :D
I think it's a great idea, if it works for you then do it! I think I might do something similar myself!!
I'd love to do that, too, but I feel like it's really important to me to NOT use red beads, so that I can remind myself that I don't have an ED anymore and that this is my healty lifestyle change.
So...what color do you think we should use?
I think I'm going to make mine gray (or silver) and orange.
From Wikipedia:
"Gray
Main article: GrayGray, somewhere between white (good) and black (evil), is a blasé color. It can symbolize elegance, humility, respect, reverence, stability, subtlety, wisdom, old age, pessimism, boredom, decay, decrepitude, dullness, pollution, urban sprawl, strong emotions, balance, neutrality, mourning, formality, and March."
"Orange
Main article: Orange (colour)Orange is energy, enthusiasm, 'get-it-done' attitude, and balance. It typically symbolizes Hinduism, Buddhism, happiness, energy, balance, heat, fire, enthusiasm, flamboyance, playfulness, aggression, arrogance, gaudiness, over-emotion, warning, danger, autumn, desire, Sagittarius (star sign), and September. Orange has less intensity or aggression than red and is calmed by the cheerfulness of yellow. Orange is symbolic of the Royal family of the Netherlands. As such, in the Netherlands, Orange symbolizes royalty, and as William of Orange was the Calvinist color, orange symbolizes protestantism, particularly in Ireland (Orange Order)."

It's ironic that I've learned more about anorexia here than on the fad-diet/teen weight loss sites I visited in the past. Weird.
But I don't think the idea is bad if the user is mentally strong, positive, and realistic. She doesn't seem to be some 100 pound girl trying to reach 86 by the end of August or anything.
I think the beads are a great idea. Also this is great for people who need a little push.
Pball, has a great idea and you can get creative with colors.
Soupcanx, you are right I also have been learning a great deal on anorexia and have a great repect for people trying to get there life back.
I'm not completely sure. It's between orange and green.
I think it's a great idea. Each 5 pounds I'll put an extra special bead :D
Sounds Great!!
Merylwhite,
What is the color of the pro-anorexia bracelets (To respect and not use?)
Nieto
The red bracelet is pro anorexia. & the blue bracelet is pro bulimia.
So I'm not getting blue nor red.
Great and Good luck keep this idea it could go far.
I've been tearing links off of a paper chain I made (yeah, those things they teach you to make in kindergarten lol.) I pinned it up inside my closet so it kind of fails as a reminder, hidden away like that. But this idea is so cute and a better reminder to make healthier choices throughout your day.
Well good luck. & I might also try the paper chain to look at it everyday when I wake up. :D
This is a wonderful idea! I think I'm going to make a rainbow bracelet so each and every bead (5lbs for me) has it's own identity. :D

Since I'm not allowed to wear bracelets at work I'm copying that!
haha I just got back from the store and I just made my bracelet :D I love it!
We may have something, i also love the idea and found some wooden bracelets that would look great on a guy. Hawaii style or maybe indian i would need to ask the street vendor?
