I had a sandwich for breakfast. I just added the piece of cheese, ham and 2 slices of wheat bread and it gave me 226 calories. Is that too much for breakfast?

I'm 5'4 .  I'm 13 and the website says I should eat 2050 cal a day but I think that's way too much so I'm not eating as many.

No. You're 13, you should be eating more like 2500. How much do you weigh? How much do you want to weigh?

HOLY ****. how can a person eat over 2000 calories?????

Most men need to eat at least 2,000 calories. Men who are tall and/or active need even more. Teenagers (men and women) generally need at least 2,000 as well.

I'm 6'1" 160 lbs and I need closer to 3,000. I lose weight on 2,300.

I eat my Arctic Zero ice cream every morning. It gives me 128 calories for the whole PINT, no fat, 16 grams of high quality whey protein and it's all natural.

 I hope you're joking.

If not, you should really try to come up with an alternative breakfast. You could eat 1 cup of scrambled egg beaters for breakfast and get 24g of high quality egg protein for 120 calories, along with vitamins and minerals you will not get from imitation ice cream.

abercrombieboy,

Damage that you may do to your body by starving it can extend to a LOT more things than how tall you are.   At age 13, there are other developments and changes that are coming for your body ... ones that you WILL care about in a few years.  I'm talking about changes that move your body from being a boy to being a man.  Instead of trying in an unsafe manner to lose the weight, why don't you do a little reasearch about what your body actually needs (as in, use tools for teenages - you think 2050 is too high ... you'll probably be told MORE calories by if you use calculators that are meant for GROWING bodies.)

160 may seem like a lot on a 5'4" frame, but seriously, you could grow 6 or more inches this year IF you eat right.  Then you'll be 160 on closer to a 6' frame.  Like my son.  Who is ... well, not skinny, but definitely lean.

But if you starve yourself now, stunt your growth AND kill your metabolism, you may risk the chance of not reaching your height (and other) potentials, and the weight may NEVER come off.

Believe me, you do not want to struggle with this your whole life.  Don't try to eat low-calorie ... eat the calories that you are supposed to, just make sure that you are getting the most nutritional value out of each calorie.

Eat healthy, and instead of starving yourself, choose exercise instead.  You will build good cardiovascular health, and lean muscle mass, and your body will thank you in the future.

I know it's basically what everyone has said already, but be careful. I dieted from ages 13 to 16 and when I increased my cals from 1400 to 2000-- I grew 2" in a couple weeks. Yes, I put weight on, but my doctor said it was ok.

So, none of us are doctors [I don't think], and at your age you should probably consult one if you want to lose. Not to be condescending, I just don't want you to hurt yourself =]

I know you've got tons of comments, but I just want to add one more.  While height doesn't matter much to you right now, it definitely will later when you want a date.  I'm pretty short myself, but I know plenty of women of average height--5'6" or so--who refuse to date men shorter than them.  It's a petty thing, I know, but having a man you can literally look up to is kind of nice.  My fiance is 5'11' (what I consider on the tall side of average for men), and he still occasionally complains that he's not taller.  You need at least 2000 calories, if not much much more to fill out and up.  Your body may need these extra lbs right now before it shoots up 6 inches within a year's time.  People have said it again and again in the comments, but please don't cut back.  Add in some exercise, but don't decrease your calories.  You need them for you physical health and development!
