Quote  |  Reply

OK I have a dilemma i need a good breakfast in the morning if i don't get a 400 or 500 calorie breakfast I'm bitchy all day. what are some good breakfast foods that are not sugar filled disasters. but that will be filling enough that I'm not hungry again in an hour.

Any combo of the following that adds up tp your needs

Oatmeal, toast (with PB if you like it), banana, yogurt (Fage yogurt is low in sugar), waffles with some mixed berries or fruit on top, eggs/egg beaters, omelet with some lunch meat and cheese and veggies

I always try to get tons of protein in the morning so I usually end up eating eggs of some sort.  Recently I've making myself breakfast sandwiches with an english muffin, egg, cheese, and two slices of lunch meat - they are yummy!
Breakfast burrito.  Use egg whites, veggies, cottage cheese (or regular cheese) and salsa.  Roll it up in a tortilla.  Yum, Yum.  Lots of protein and fiber to fill you up and very low on sugar.  Pump this up by using a sprouted grain tortilla for more fiber.
Add some protein and fat to your breakfast - eggs, ham, and cheese all have quite a lot of calories but you don't need to use a LOT of them to get the benefits of eating them. One rasher of cooked bacon has 30 calories according to the database. If you want to have five or six rashers that's a LOT, but you really only need one or two to add a bit of nice bacony flavour to your egg. Try making yourself a homemade McMuffin - low-cal english muffin, one poached or scrambled egg, one slice of cheese, and one rasher of bacon broken into pieces to fit on the bun.
OOOH i love breakfast time :)

One of my favorites is mixing interesting and different healthy cereals and adding things to the mix

for example. high fiber bran + a cut up apple + some strawberries + a nutty muesli

or

bran flakes with raisins and cut up banana and some nuts (almonds, peacans ect )

an egg in the style of your choice for some protein and never forget the coffee :)

a 500 cal vreakfast can be very fun to "spend" because its quite a lot if you eat things like fruit and high fiber bran

I eat/drink flax seed mush-stuff (1/4 cup milled flax seed with 1/2 cup water in microwave for 1 min). It isn't bad tasting and it's not good either. It is really full of fiber so it keeps you regular and feeling lean. It is full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids which are great for you cholesterol levels, and also make you feel satisfied until lunch. All in all it's easy, fast, healthy and keeps me on track.

Kashi Go Lean cereal with a tiny bit of cranberries or strawberries on it.  I also drizzle a little agave nectar (like honey but low glycemic) and cinnamon for a change.  Before I eat those carbs though I have either a couple of hard boiled egg whites, or 1 whole egg plus a couple of egg whites (whatever fits the calories) or 3-4 slices of turkey.  That's my super fast breakfast.

2 slices of Ezekial bread with organic peanut butter w/ flax sprinkled on it  and a little fruit or more protien.

I feel better when I eat more protien so I usually make sure to get some before I eat  carbs.  It helps my blood sugar even though I'm not diabetic or anything.  Some people feel better on more carbs.  Up to you.

Here is a great breatfast idea...

Egg-white omelet (6 whites) with broccoli or spinach and a slice of fat-free cheese, plus either a slice of whole-grain bread or a half cup of oatmeal

I've started adding Flaxseed Oil to my breakfast cereal and the "good fat" in it keeps of my "bad fat" cravings and increases my calorie intake super easy. Now I'm not dizzy and grumpy by noon. Try it, I think it tastes pretty good in cereal. That's the only way I can take it.

1cup cottage cheese, 1 cup berries, 1/4 cup ground flax seed or chopped almonds, 1/2 banana.. Mix in a large bowl and eat.

1 cup milk, 1 whole banana, 2 tbsp PB, a couple ice cubes.. Mix in a blender and drink.

1 whole egg, 2 egg whites, .5oz cheese(prepared however.. I do scrambled) 1/2 of a large tomatoe, 2 slices whole what bread(toasted), 1-2 tsp margarine... Make a sandwich.

2 whole wheat toaster waffles, 2 tbsp peanut butter, light jam, and a glass of milk.. (spread pb on waffles)

3/4 cup healthy granola (I use Nature's Path flax plus Pumpkin), 1 cup berries, 1 cup milk.. Mix and eat

I usually have about 250 cals for breakfast, so I would eat about half of those servings, but they always taste awesome! Tongue out Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

I know that this sounds weird, and it is a little odd but in a way it is good.

I do 4 tbsp of ground flax seed

1 tbsp of peanut butter

boiling hot water.  Pour the boiling hot water on top of the peanut butter/ flax seed meal and stir together.  The peanut butter adds flavor to the flax seed and it is filling, keeps me from getting hungry and it is super healthy.

I usually have a cup of boiled mung beans with a bit of salt, lemon juice and pepper(I soak the beans overnight). They are so yum, natural, super healthy, provide both carb and protein and I dont feel hungry till noon.Just 212 Calories a cup, 14 grams of protein

When I want a big breakfast I make a two-egg omelette (whole eggs!) and throw in whatever veg I can find in the fridge - tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and sometimes some chopped red chilli. I often sprinkle a small handful of grated cheddar on top, and always add loads of black pepper. That plus one or two slices of wholewheat toast should do the trick.

Weetabix with yoghurt/low fat cream and strawberries/bananas.

Porridge with raisins and milk plus slice of toast with peanut butter.

Prawn omlette.

here's my favorite high-cal breakfast: 1/2 cup oats made w/milk, peanut butter, a sliced banana, & some cinnamon

Here's my breakfast:

6:00am: Pre workout snack- english muffin w/Jam~ 110 cal

8:00 am: Banana bread oatmeal- 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 banana, 1tbsp flax, 7g walnuts, 1tsp brown sugar, sprinkle of cinnamon.    ~343 cal

egg muffin- 1 100 cal english muffin, 1 morning star sausage patty, 3 egg whites.~231 cal.

total calories=684.  48g protein, 116g carbs.

This breakfast will keep me going until 2pm.  I love it.

Quaker rolled oats with cinnamon, fruit, and sliced almonds. I microwave it with milk. My boyfriend likes it with peanut butter. Sometimes I add a small glass of V8 juice. I find it keeps me energetic all morning and the cinnamon keeps your blood sugar levels even.

My favorite breakfasts are

1. Quaker old fashed oats with cinnamon and almonds. Can mix some jam in it if you want it sweet.

2. Kashi go lean crunch or Kashi go lean waffle with peanut butter on it.

3. Two scrambled eggs on one whole wheat english muffin

Just some ideas. they are all pretty healthy and low cal but packed with nutrition.

Well I eat just about the same breakfast every morning and It could keep me going alll day long if needed....

3/4 oatmeal dry cooked in water then top with cinnammon, fresh cut up strawberries/blueberries/ blackberries or any fruit you may like (even raisins) and then I have 3 or 4 egg whites and all for about 350-400 calories...sometimes I top the oatmeal with vanilla soymilk too or add in an orange or grapefruit if im more hungry!

I love this Breakfast Frittata that I found on Worlds Healthiest Foods… I add some swiss on top and I use spinach instead of Kale and egg whites only…personal preference.

It is delicious and very healthy.

Oddly enough I posted it today in food forums…
