Breakfast Ideas?
OK. I'm a little bored with my shredded wheat, raisins, peaches, and skim milk breakfast. After all, I eat it or oatmeal with the same fruits 5 days a week.
Does anybody have any ideas for a different breakfast that is fairly low in sodium and fat, less than 350 calories, and something I could make at home without major effort?
We are out of bread and fruit except peaches, raisins, and blueberries, but we do have some wraps.
Thanks for the ideas! :D

Egg white omelet wrap? Do you have some tomatoes and lettuce? How do you feel about going a little bit spicy at breakfast time?
spicy is good . . . what would you add?? Beans? I have some chili beans . . .
Pancakes? I eat mine without syrup anyways so I don't miss it. There was a good recipe for a low cal pumpkin pancake in the Recipes forum.
I just EggBeaters and will try them out this week. I've been dying for Huevos Rancheros for a while!!

I'd do some mashed beans with salsa, spread on the wrap, then shredded lettuce & chopped tomato, and maybe a little low fat cheese, and roll it up. Fast and no cooking.
weetabix?
How about some plain yogurt mixed with frozen berries (nuke them for like 30 sec)? YUM. Add some splenda if you want it sweeter. If you want to up the cals, granola is also excellent in this little concoction.

How about some Eggos? I found some with blueberries & wheat (whatever that means). Very quick and tasty! I just eat them plain on the run.
I'm a huge fan of egg beaters (30 cal/ for 1 egg's worth) and turkey bacon (30 cal/slice) for weekend meals.
On weekdays when I am trying to get out the door by 6am I have a protein shake. When my boyfriend bought the mix I thought it was disgusting but I finally tried it and it's really good. It fills me up until lunch and is relatively low in calories (about 120). You can mix it in water and it tastes like milk too. The one we have is GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein, vanilla flavored. Next time I have to see if they have chocolate. It is much better than any other breakfast drink-stuff I've had before. It was kinda expensive, about $30.00 but it also has almost 50 servings in it so it will last you quite a while.

i used to have yogurt with a little fruit, now i have fruit with a little yogurt!
this morning, it was 170 gms blueberries, 130 gms watermelon, 114 gms nonfat yogurt, 100 gms rye toast, 1 whole egg and 1 egg white, poached (80 gms) and coffee w 2 oz skim.
this is 463 cals but if you skip the toast, or cut out one piece of toast, and half the fruit, it's closer to 300. sometimes i put the poached eggs on steamed spinach. they're really good like that.
i'm trying to get more of my cals in early in the day, and i'm on maintenance, so my daily total for cals is close to 2000.
anyway, another breakfast we like is pancakes made with whole wheat flour and with added plain whey for protein. topped with diced strawberries or blueberries and non fat yogurt, instead of syrup and butter.

I like Yoplait light yogurt and Kashi Go Lean Crunch; I probably have that almost every morning. The Kashi Go Lean Crunch is 190 calories for 1 cup and has 8 grams of fiber. I usually just have 1/2 cup of the Kashi and mix it with the yogurt. The Yoplait Light is 100 calories. That's only 180 calories and it really fills me up. A nice quick breakfast. You can have different flavors of yogurt, too. That makes it nice because it's like having something different every morning. Somtimes, I'll have 1/2 cup of grapenuts in the yogurt, too. I buy Walmart brand and 1/2 cup of grapenuts is 170 calories as opposed to 220 calories (I think) of the real thing. Walmart brand is just as good, not only does it have less calories but it's also alot cheaper.
