Breakfast suggestion? Oatmeal? Going to go shopping in 20 mins...
I'm going to go grocery shopping in about 20 mins or less and I'd like to know of a healthy nutritious breakfast. I heard oatmeal is pretty good for breakfast. The thing is, I don't know which one to buy. I hope it's quick and easy to cook. If you can help me out choosing the right oatmeal I would really appreciate it. I believe I'm going to Costco, if not I'll buy it at Safeway.
Thanks in advance.
Oatmeal is a great breakfast. I eat mine with just cinnamon. Eggs rock the house imo. (that was sort of dorky..hehe!!) 1/2 a whole grain bagel with peanut butter isn't a bad choice. Or cottage cheese with fruit.
Yeah, eggs are good. I always eat an egg sandwich (2 slices of whole wheat bread, 1 or 2 eggs, and small piece of melted cheese) for breakfast.
But I'd like to eat that for lunch instead. So any oatmeal will do? I read somewhere that there was a healthier oatmeal instead of the Quaker brand.
Oh and I'm definitely getting some cottage cheese. Never tried it though. I've been looking for it for weeks now. But can't find it at the stores I go to.
Just get old fashioned oats - it doesn't matter the brand as long as the only ingredient is "oats". They cook in 5 minutes in the microwave if you don't want to use the stove.

This.
Also, if you want a real treat then try steel cut Irish oatmeal. It takes 30 minutes to cook but the flavor and texture difference is worth the extra effort. What a change from the instant oatmeal we grew up with.
Sweet! I got Quaker Oats Old Fashioned Oats (100% Whole Grain & 100% Natural). I think I'm all set! :)
I already had oats at home. It's full since my family doesn't eat it. That's good for me since I won't spend much money buying it.
That's gonna be my breakfast tomorrow morning!
Thanks everyone!
I buy the Quaker Oats Weight Control packets. They come in individual serving packets. Also pretty much any whole grain bread with light butter and fruit would be a good breakfast.
Yes most any brand of oats is very healthy for you, although I definitely prefer regular over instant because they seem much more full-bodied in my opinion. The nice thing about buying bulk oats versus packets of oatmeal is that it is much cheaper, and also doesn't seem so wasteful when you consider all the paper made to package those little 100 cals of instant oats!
I'm probably too late to be of help, but I get frozen eggs. They're 60 cal/disc. I usually have two discs and a banana, apple, or grapes. Jimmy Dean makes three cheese frozen omletes, but they're too expensive to buy all the time (I don't have a Costco, boo). Anyway, that's usually my breakfast. If I can't get my tail out of bed, it's generic slimfast (mostly for the protein) and a fruit.
Aaaaand, I just realized the thread was about oatmeal. I read breakfast and got excited, sorry. I get the oats with extra fiber. They're instant, but they're still really good. Sometimes I like to add some homemade jam (just a little), which adds to the flavor nicely.
