My favorite thing that I had every morning is egg whites, swiss cheese, wheat toast, onions and tomatos. Yesterday I switched it up and had oatmeal and a banana. I really love my eggs and cheese, but I heard that I should switch up my breakfast. Anyone have suggestions. Should I only eat eggs and that every other day and with the other oatmeal and banana? I also work out everyday if that factors anything if for you. Thanks, any advice would be awesome :)
There are lots of things you could do... Toast is a pretty handy medium for a lot of things... You could top with scrambled eggs, baked beans, grilled mushrooms, cottage cheese, peanut butter..... change your bread choices and the combinations increase. Cereals come in all shapes and sizes. A decent quality wholegrain muesli topped with some fresh berries and plain yoghurt is delicious. Smoothies are another one to explore, maybe with some toast on the side. Oatmeal is good and, again, you can vary the toppings to get different flavours. I add sesame seeds and honey to mine. Whole eggs are possibly more versatile than just the whites. You could soak a thick slice of bread in beaten egg, cook it in a non-stick pan that has been greased with a little cooking spray and make a light 'french toast'. Vegetable frittatas. Poached or boiled you get that lovely runny yolk. You could go 'continental' with some cooked meats or smoked salmon by way of a change...
Here's a bunch of ideas to dress up your oatmeal.
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup yogurt
with cereal sprinkled on top.
YUM im actually eating it at the moment. (i either use cereal, granola, or some walnuts) this is like a staple breakfast for me. sometimes i add some ww toast
my new fave breakfast is fruit (berries or pear slices) with 1/2 cup of soy yogurt (i'm vegan) and a tablespoon of dry oatmeal. sounds a bit strange, but it is totally DELICIOUS. another breakfast i eat regularly is 1/2 an everything bagel with hummus. love it!
My new favorite: Bob's Red Mill 5 Grain Rolled hot cereal. It's made with whole rolled wheat, rye oats, flaxseed and barley. It's only 120 cal for 1/3 cup dry (makes over a cup after cooking), has 5g fiber.
It's REALLY yummy - I think it has more taste and definately more texture than oatmeal.
It's good on it's own, but I have also made it with 2 teaspoons of peanut butter and a drizzle of honey, which was pretty good. Today I used 2 tsp brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon, which was even better.
It's only 2.39 at Whole Foods, and it should make 12 servings, so it's a bargain too!
I make my own egg mc muffins!
use whole wheat english muffins, one egg (i cook mine in a ramekin in the micro so it is the right size). You can add canadian bacon or turkey bacon. You can also add low fat cheese for extra flavor. They are good on the go!
The yogurt and cereal idea ia good one too! Cherrios are awesome in vanilla yogurt. Add a banana for more filling.
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day!
Total and a piece of fruit and/or a granola bar
1/4 cup Cranberry Crunch Total w/ 6oz vanilla Dannon Light and Fit yogurt
Oatmeal (I buy the variety pack so there's so many flavors)
Kashi hot cereal
English muffin w/ PB&J
The breakfast possiblities are endless!
Just curious, what makes you think you need to switch up your bfast? If you like what you are eating there is no need to change it unless you just want variety of it is not fitting in with your weight loss goals. I eat the same thing almost every morning, i still love it! I cup of egg whites with garlic pepper, 1 whole wheat english muffin, 1 laughing cow cheese wedge. So simple but I really like it.
Other options for variety that I have once in a while:
whole wheat pita with banana and PB2
greek yogurt, frozen fruit, kashi cereal
cottage cheese, med apple
What I have every morning is similiar, a bowl of oatmeal with a mashed banana mixed in & cottage cheese with grapes. I'm not very original because I basically have that every morning! But sometimes I drizzle almond butter on the oatmeal and I always sprinkle ground cinnamon. Or i'll have a boiled egg instead of cottage cheese. On the weekends though, i'll have two whole wheat waffles and spread peanut butter on them w/ maple syrup + blueberries. You can also put the waffles together and make a waffle sandwich thing, and put anything you want in between.
my favorite all time breakfast is whole milk greek yogurt (the rest is to watery) with 3/4 cup fruit and nut granola. dunk a tablespoon of honey and slice in some banana and its so dam good. i have it every day im addicted
