Breaking free
Came upon this in my dieting this week: "Self-control is a quality of the fruit of the Spirit. Stop feeling guilty because you don't have any self-discipline of your own. Neither does that put-together looking person next to you. None of us can master ourselves. Some yokes may be more obvious than others, but we have all had them. God is the only one who can sanctify and make every part of us whole...'and He will do it.' All He wants is our trust, our belief, and a little bit of time."
-Beth Moore, Praying God's Word, Chapter 8: Overcoming Food-related Strongholds
Hi, my name is Heather, I'm 24 and one week into my weight loss journey and new healthy lifestyle. I've lost 3lbs in this first week and I've got about 46 to go to get to a healthy BMI. I'm an artist by trade, I also teach guitar lessons and play in my church worship band as well as a couple of local bands. I'm an amateur writer, and I'm hoping that my CC journals will help and inspire others as we go down this road together.
My mother lives across the state and I was talking to her about weight loss. She is on her own journey and has lost nearly 50 lbs through a program that they are offering at her church. She told me that it was refreshing to have a spiritual foundation in a weight loss program and has helped her greatly. She recommended that I find some fellow Christians to help support me on my journey. That's when I stumbled upon this group while looking through the profiles of some of my new friends on CC.
I know that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and I'm sure glad that's true, cuz all this weight loss stuff is daunting and overwhelming and I know that I can't do it without His help. I'm praying that he brings the right people into my life through this site to help me along the way so I can stay true to the path he has planned for me. I know that his will for me is to overcome my addiction to food and laziness, so I feel confident in praying for his will in my life!
Welcome Heather! Glad you found us. "Stumbled"? I call it God's direction. He has a purpose for you joining our group here. We learn so much from one another as we journey together. The key is consistency. Enjoy making some new friends. If you fall, you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and continue on. We encourage one another. Never give up! ~ Norma Jean
