Breaking night and counting calories?
I'm curious to know, when/how to separate my calorie count if I've stayed awake for more than 24 hours. Does it just run right into the other and consist of one day?
I'm sorry if I sound like a total idiot..let me give you some more background info. Last night I was mugged walking home. Needless to say I'm still quite unnerved and can't seem to relax enough to sleep and/or eat, especially not last night. All I keep seeing is that guys face...ANYWAY with that said my total caloric intake right before I left work was 814. By the time I got off the train and walked/got attacked/went to the precinct/etc etc it was about 10:30pm. Appetite was completely lost as I was pretty much a wreck of numb emotions? Yeah something like that..I stayed up all night until this morning, however around 2:30-3am my stomach gurgles were becoming noticeable and a little painful so I had some oatmeal and a granola bar just to put something in there. It's now 11am and I managed to force some eggwhites and spinach down, with a nice cup of coffee as I look/feel like a zombie.
How do I begin to log/count my calories?
Please bear with me if this topic makes you cross-eyed, I'm on no sleep!
For starters, I am so sorry that you had such a horrible night. Totally understandable that you would lose your appetite.
I personally would break it up the way that CC tends to break it up, which is switch to a new day at midnight. Sometimes if I eat around 12:30am or so, I do add it to the old day, but for the most part, breaking it up at midnight just is the easiest way to break up days. Hope that helps!
I'd be dealing with the post-traumatic stress if I were you... don't worry about counting the calories. Have you been to see your doctor? Been offered counselling? You may need a prescription of some kind to help you sleep and calm your nerves. Much more important for your quality of life, I'd have thought.
I TOTALLY agree with gi-jane -- maybe you shouldn't be worried about your exact caloric intake for the next while. Make good choices when you are hungry and don't worry so much about the numbers, or if you feel like you need to keep track of something, make sure you're getting enough water, milk, and veggies/fruits. But definitely take care of your psyche first, if for no other reason than that mental stress definitely effects weight loss/gain.
