Breaking up with...
Macaroni and cheese. It just makes me feel AWFUL afterward. =[ And, after today, I'm going to ease up on sugar. Its time to take my taste buds back and stop letting my sugar smother my relationships with healthy foods, and maybe eventually I'll be able to stop seeing it altogether. Or at least not very often. =)
What foods have you broken up with on your weight loss journey? And why?
Hey Grateful...
I had to break up with bread...oh, I love bread so much, but, it adds SO many calories. I have to limit myself or abstain all together...limiting is hard. It makes me sad. BTW...I love Mac & Cheese too...I've found that sometimes it's easier to just abstain...or...what I have found is better is to have my husband make the mac & cheese...(he doesn't make it the way I like)...so it takes the pleasure away.
So...I get ya!
Yup, I broke up with mac and cheese too! Makes, me bloat up like crazy! Can't do it anymore. May be it's the dairy cause I feel like that after I drink cow's milk too. Hmmm, you might of just helped me..lol.
You look great in your pic if that's you. How much have you lost? If, you don't mind sharing.

I like the idea of this post... not giving something up (which just makes me feel sad), but breaking up with it, because you know its not good for you.
I guess, i broke up with soda, and Vitamin D and 2% milk for its cousin skim... lol

I had to break up with sodas!!!! I have not drank a soda since March 2009. Only water, unsweet tea, milk, etc. for me! No carbonated drinks! Within the first month w/o soda I lost 15 pounds. Once I saw the results I have never looked back!

Yeah, I kind of feel that way too. The dairy + the sodium is just KILLER. I never, ever feel good afterward haha.
And THANK YOU! I always love a good compliment =D And I had lost about 30 pounds in that picture. I've gained some back, some of it as muscle (took up rock climbing.) I went from 150+ (maybe even 155 =S) to 118. Now I'm in the high 130's low 140's depending on if I'm on my period, but I'd like to get back to that again =) Thank you for helping motivate me haha!
&& I feel the same way about Soda. I never drink it any more. I didn't have a dramatic loss, but it never made me feel marvelous anyway. Carbonated water with a splash of fruit juice might just be the best, most refreshing cold drink ever too.
Thtlola-- I loved that! I've made a few dodgy moves toward the close relatives of various foods too-- hopefully they'll never find out. But I always know that it never feels good to cheat in a relationship and hope to never go back =D =D
A_scoggins-- oh gosh. Bread and I are love-hate too. I try to be a vegetarian, so I end up eating a lot of it. A marvelous replacement for a slice of bread on a sandwich is a big, full leaf of romane lettuce-- it keeps you from having to hold bread on one side and a strange, inconsistent material on the other side. Saves one slice worth's of calories but totally adds up. =D
I love this post. I've yet to break up with anything... on a long term basis. But I'm certainly trying. I live in the UAE, the Emirate that I'm in outlaws alcohol, so there's no extra calories from that. Bread. Oh, bread. i love bread. In fact, this morning for breakfast I had 2 scrambled eggs with a side of ciabatta bread. I need to break up with it once and for all. Any suggestions on how to do this effectively?
I'm trying to break up with alcohol. I desire it nightly but now I realize that besides the empty calories, it's affecting my workout the next day and I'm just not enjoying it as much as I used to. I need to keep reminding myself of this before I start drinking.
I think this will be a hard lesson to learn.
I didn't break up with many things (though I started seeing lots of things a lot less frequently! hehe), only stuff that seem really wasteful or flat out bad for me.. ie, boxed pasta dinners (I used to live on these things!), sodas, fast food, etc.. breaking up wasn't hard to do with those things.. after a short while I just stopped craving 'em altogether.
For the most part, my main break-up has been deep fried foods, especially the super greasy kind. I can still do some french fries and whatnot, but if I eat too much now I'll get so sick. Which sucks, because right now I could live off of super thick-cut onion rings. :(
I'm breaking up with Pumpkin Pie. :(
I'm stopping the midnight trysts with Grilled Cheese sandwiches.
I'm Dating Salad, and having a wild affair with Fiber One.
I had to break up with pasta. I miss it a lot. Spaghetti squash just isn't quite the same, but it treats me right. I miss bread, too. I still see it sometimes, but not as much as I'd like to.
Also Oreos, soda, frosting, and well, most sweets really... I know they're good-for-nothing freeloaders who abused me, but I still miss them.
I had to break up with ice cream, because I could never eat a normal healthy serving size and stick to it. I'd always go back for more until I'd eaten half the carton.
Uh, I miss ice cream, even though it didn't love me back.
I've also broken up with any dessert items that don't come in a single serving size. Otherwise I'll eat the whole package at once--no more sweets lying around the house tempting me into food sin.
Oh the break up with Mac and Cheese!! I've had to do the same thing!! I love it way too much but it doesn't love me back either!! My hubs can eat a whole box of it and it doesn't do a single thing to him!! But me!!! I bloat like crazy!! Gr!!!
Currently am trying to date salad :))) Sometimes it's a rocky relationship!
I wish I could bring myself to break up with soda! I drink only diet... but still... I know I'd be so much better off without it. It's a guilty pleasure :(
I broke up with Soda... for months I didn't touch it, and I was seeing results! Now, we are seeing each other again because I drink vodka/sprite (if i'm going to be drinking alcohol). But that's not very often either...
I too had to give up mac and cheese! It is one of my favorites but I just can't eat it... way too much salt!
I am not going to try the affair with salad because my stomach can't handle the greens. I have acid/reflux (or GERD) so certain foods really messes with me. But i've also given up a lot of bad foods because of the GERD as well... doughnuts (not that i ate them often but now i don't think about touching them), Tempura, fast food (again, didn't eat often anyway). But pretty much anything greasy is the worst thing for my stomach so the fact that it hurts makes it easier to avoid.
I broke up with my daily nap. I now exercise almost every day instead.. I still eat pretty much what a want (lowered portion) on most days and still having good results.. I also broke up with most fast food. Lost 24 pounds in 70 days. Fast food makes me lethargic and then leads to naps..
