Breakthrough links bulimia to testosterone
Just heading off but this caught my eye.:
Bulimia may be caused by hormones, according to new research, which suggests that up to a third of women suffering from the condition could be treated with the contraceptive pill.
Scientists investigating the causes of food disorders have discovered that one in three patients who had bulimia also suffered from hormonal disorders which gave them unusually high levels of testosterone, the male hormone. Link here

Wow!
That's really interesting!
If 1/3 of women who are bulemic have high levels of testosterone, I wonder how many women with high levels of testosterone have bulemia or another eating disorder?
This has some interesting implications for people with bulemia though... will they start testing to see if testosterone is a causal factor in their bulemia?
What if someone who has been treated by putting them on the birth control pill decides to try to have a baby.... how would they prevent against a relapse?
Thanks for posting this article!

I find this especially interesting as the only time I am utterly unable of controlling my bulemic urges is during PMS. However, I use a contraceptive pill so no miracle solution there, unfortunately. I'll talk to my doctor and follow-up on this thread ;)
