It depends.

Do you plan on breastfeeding if/when you have a child? If so, the way the surgery is performed makes a difference. Some surgeons sever the nerves that signal your brain to produce milk. If these nerves are too damaged and don't heal, you won't be able to produce milk. You could always make sure the surgeon is aware that you want to (possibly) breastfeed after the augmentation and they can make appropriate changes to their incision sites. I think there may also be some issues with the implant being under or over the muscle, too. Another issue is that engorgement will be exagerated by the implants. This may be pretty painful but is a problem that can be solved somewhat easily.

If it were me, I'd wait until I was done having babies. After having and breastfeeding two kids, my boobs are destroyed. I had large breasts before kids and they're now deflated and saggy. I'm considering a breast lift but not until I'm sure we're done having kids. It's possible that pregnancy could alter your breasts even with implants so it's probably better to wait.

Here's the FDA's website on making the decision to get implants:

First, talk to a doctor about your concerns, and what you want. Over muscle, under muscle, through the nipple, armpit, belly button etc etc.

I'm actually planning on getting a boob lift and a tummy tuck for my 38th birthday. I'll be done having babies and I'll probably need a little "pick me up"(HAHAHA) as I approach the big 40. I have so much excess skin from both of my pregnancies that the only way to get rid of it is to have it removed, and I always planned to get a lift around 40. I like my size, just not the shape.

But, either way you decided, make sure that your cosmetic surgeon is reputable and qualified. It's MAJOR surgury so just do research and get more than one opinion. Augmentation is pretty common now, but complications and death can occur, so be a pest and diligent untill all of your concerns and questions are addressed!

good points, thank you both very much!
