Have you asked the physician? I would think it depended on the person's incividual healing time.
I had implants about 4 months ago.
You cant run or strength train the upper body for about 6-8 weeks after. I Re-started walking and light aerobic exercise (ie stationary bike and elliptical trainer) 2 weeks after with no problems. You just need a really good bra!
good luck with your consult, make sure you get a really good surgeon and expect to be pretty sore for at least a month after. best thing ive ever done!
I actually found i dropped weight having a two week rest from exercise and just eating right. Spoil yourself for the two weeks after the surgery as you will feel pretty grotty. I got my hair done and stuff like that.
BTW... immediately after the surgery you will be up on the scale about 5-8lbs dont worry, its water and swelling and it goes on its own over the week after!
The implants feel really hard, heavy and swollen too initially but they soon settle and start to feel part of you.
what size did you go from and to? What type of implant did you get? Did you get them put under the muscle? Did you find they 'got in the way' until you got used to them? Where did they do the incision?
Thank you ever so much, sorry for being so nosy!
Best of luck to you and I've got my fingers crossed. :-)
I just had augmentation and implants done Monday and so far so good.... I dreaded not working out because I am a big exercise buff too (I work out 6-7 days a week)... So far I am happy with the results and come this monday I can start to walk on my treadmill SLOWLY. I don't want to over do it because of how much my new "puppies" cost me but if I keep somewhat active I hope not to gain too much weight. I agree with being up on the scale right after surgery. I weighed myself monday before surgery to see how much I weighed and two days after surgery I was up 5 pounds today when I weighed myself I was back down to mondays weight. I hope eating healthly and staying somewhat active I won't gain that much weight.
I had my surgery exactly a year ago. The 6-8 weeks was not enough in my opinion overall. I did get back into my aerobics classes after about four weeks, but didn't do weights until way after the 8 week period. My chest felt very tight. And I absolutely could not do push-ups, chest flys, the plank, or many other things that use those muscles that they put the implants under for about six months. Your muscles are already stretched so tight over the implants, that to really stress them with the weights was just too much for me.
But I'd like to end on a good note. It was the best decision I ever made. I love them! My surgeon did a poor job placing them and the implants have since sunk below the incision line and it's very obvious that I have implants in, but only me and my boyfriend know that. From the outside my body is beautiful! And they say you'll have to have a follow up surgery after you have children so I plan on just having them fixed then. I am still happy with them!
This got me thinking, I could use some new boobs. I should do that for my 40th next month. My boobs are not where I left them 20 years ago >:o
