Has anyone had this done? I'm doing it next month, and I'm getting a little nervous. I just don't know what to expect. I've always wanted smaller, lifted boobs, but I still feel like I'll be losing a part of myself- what's made me different ever since 5th grade. I'm 5'4, 197, and wear a DD (maybe a little bigger). I'm going down to a C I think. How will this affect my weight loss? I feel like i will be so much more confident and motivated, and be able to jog, etc. without problems.
I haven't had it done but two of my good friends have. They were both much happier afterwards. Good luck!
My mom had it done years ago and she was so happy about it.
You will probably feel a bit disproportioned (I don't eve think thats a word) because you are used to being more top heavy. Also you may notice the size of your midsection more. Us top heavy girls tend to not notice our tummy as much (I'm a D cup) because our boobs are blocking it lol but with smaller boobage you will notice it more. But since you are trying to lose weight anyway it should only further motivate you.
Just curious, were you suffering from back pain? or is this cosmetic?
My mom had serious back pain, she was like a I cup I think.
Everyone I know who's had it down was very happy with the results. All of them marveled at the nice clothes they could wear, no matter how heavy or thin they were. One girlfriend went and bought shirts with buttons down the front for the first time since her teens. All of them said their back pain disappeared
Good luck!
A year ago (almost to the day, actually - December 21st), I went from a 34FFF to a 34D. I didn't want to go smaller because I knew I'd feel really weird, but I've never felt better or been happier in my whole life. I was sore for about a week after, and my scars are still fading, but I think my boobs look great. I'd had a huge chest since I was about 13, and all the back and neck and shoulder pain that went with it. My boobs aren't small now, so I do get some pain still, but it's fantastic to be able to buy normal shirts, or try on a dress and have it fit without having to get it three sizes larger and taken in in the waist and hips.
I was told not to run or anything for a while, which is supposed to help make sure everything settles and heals well. Also, make sure you've got bras without underwire to wear for about two months after surgery (the wire will rub where the scars are trying to heal). I got some made by Spanx that I still wear sometimes because they're really comfortable, but sports bras would also work, probably.
Good luck with your surgery - I'm sure you'll feel great after! If you've got any questions, just ask :)
edited to add: I'm 5'7" and was about 135 when I had surgery. Basically my boobs were always much too large for my frame and looked kind of silly. I did gain some weight from laying around after going under the knife, but it's coming off quite quickly now.
My boyfriend's mom just got it done in October because of back pain and she loves her results! Though take care of your wounds really well, because she also go a tummy tuck a few weeks ago and her incision got infected :[
I got it done about a year and a half ago, and my confidence soared afterwards. I am 5'1.5" and had large D's, small DD's (I had trouble admitting it) and went to a C cup. Not only did it make my body more proportioned, but I looked thinner as well because before it was always "top heavy".
I think you are going to be so pleased with the results - mentally, emotionally and physically. It might be a little shocking for the first couple days when you wonder where your boobs went, but the confidence will definitely override any of that. And let's not forget the pain that will go away! Good luck!
Oh - for the scarring - I used Mederma (I think that's the right name, if not something really similar) and it worked wonderfully. You can barely see any scars.
thanks everyone for responding! I'm getting it done for cosmetic and health reasons. I have back problems and also skin infections under my breasts. Its so uncomfortable and I think that I will be so happy afterwards. I'm working really hard on quitting smoking, which is essential to good recovery, but it's so much harder than I thought. I'm going out to a concert tonight, and when I drink, I want one. We'll see how well I resist.
Wish me luck!
Jackie
good luck!i was thinking about this but due to me being not even 20 yet i have put it to the back of my mid.
reason i wated to get it done was because i get alot of back pain. i am a 38GG! which for my tiny 5 ft 1(ok not so tiny for weight!)is big!
I hope this goes really well for you:D
I am a DDD and I have always wondered about having a reduction. I have had back issues for a long time and have even had to have physical therapy at times. Does your insurance cover it? I had a friend of a friend who had it done a few years ago and she had to fight tooth and nail to get her insurance to cover a tiny portion of it.
I paid for mine out of pocket, and my surgeon said if I wanted my insurance to cover it, I would have to prove that I'd had back trouble, and would have to have more removed, and would have to have documentation of physical therapy and things - so that might be good for you if you have proof.
I found that for me, it wasn't all that much, since my surgeon charged only for the day of the surgery, and not for anything else. He has had me come in to check things afterwards, and did before also, but did not charge for those visits.
I would say just make sure you have a good surgeon - someone who listens to you, and you feel comfortable with and trust.
I had it done and am the happiest person alive! I went from a 46II to a 38C.
I would have gone to a B if had known then what I know now... but I think I was born a "D" so I had no point of comparison. The back pain disappeared, the lop-sided shoulders corrected.
People quit talking to your chest and actually see your face. You discover that you have lost your "food chest" that catches all the crumbs. AND best of all...
YOU HAVE FEET!!!
Best wishes for a true blessing!
My surgeon said she would have to take off 1 pound from each breast for insurance to pay, and she felt I would be left with no breasts. I wear a 34 HH bra. How do I know how much they weigh? No breasts sound pretty good to my right now.
Check out baten74
her posting says it all..she would be a great contact for you...and think about her wanting a lower cup size later.
I have a friend who went from a 34HH to a 34B...she is much happier, looks great and as she says they are not bouncing all over the place anymore. She teaches grade 7's and you can imagine the things that were being said about her. Not now, she is a whole new woman.
