breastfeding not helping me with wight loss?
Hey readers
Im having a hard time lossing my weight...
I'm obbssessed about looking at myself in the scale - like that number will suddly drop 10 pounds ovr night. (wish that would happend)
Its been 2 months sience I had my bundle of joy and I been trying to get back into shap - walking everyday (speed walking)
I do alot of chores around the house, I even carry my 16lbs son in his car seat when I go up in the th stairs (hoping any way that could help), I have a busy 5 year old that I chase around the park. On top of everything Im breastfeeding.... I have not yet lost 1 pound! I just gain 5 pounds... Its so upsetting and I ned to be back in my normal clothing again.... I watch what I eat - so why am I not lossing any weight? 2 months to soon? when should I notice the weight shedding off? what is wrong with me ?
Your hormones are still outta whack, so it might take a couple more months before you see any dramatic weight loss.
Try remembering your pre-pregnancy cal intake, and adding 200-300 cals to that. It helped me alot! I was able to drop 45 pounds in roughly 6 months on that cal intake and breastfeeding! Just the last stupid, evil, stubborn 15 to go!
I think mOm brings up a good point. Are you tracking your calories? How's your intake compared to your calories burned?
eta: Breastfeeding helps, but it isn't a silver bullet. I breastfed #1 for 22 months and I was just as fat at the end as I was when I started... because I was still eating like a horse.
My baby is now 14 months and I'm just now getting back on track. In those first few months I was so tired and food tasted so good, I ate more than when I was pregnant. I also allowed myself to eat more because I knew the BFing was taking some of the calories. And those lovely hormones... Your body knows that you need fat to make milk and it definitely wants you to eat and keep a bit of weight for now. Trust me, if you eat healthy food and gently get back into exercise, YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT!! But girl, you just popped that little bundle of joy out of yourself, so relax and take good care of the both of you. A slow weight loss is a weight loss that maintains!
My goal for her first birthday is to be down 15 pounds- my last 15 pounds I want to lose.
I'm chucking out my old pants b/c they simply don't fit right and I'm not squeezing into something that doesn't look or feel good.
grrrrr........not a good day
I would definitely watch your calories. When I was BFing, I can tell you that I was ravenous! LOL! I would even catch myself snacking during those late night feedings and that killed my chance of losing anything. I had been the same weight since DS was 1 month - he's about 10mos now and I have just started losing because I am *finally* counting calories and making better food choices.
Good Luck!
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
