My daugter is 7 weeks old and I am currently breastfeeding her as well as giving her formula. How can I calculate that into my daily life? I hear breastfeeding burns anywhere from 300-500 calories a day. Do I need to consume more calories because of this or can I just consider this an "activity"?

I was told to increase my calorie intake by about 300 calories a day while breastfeeding.

Polar,
Congrats on becoming a mom! I have had 2 children and breast fed both. I was also told to consume 300 extra calories a day and drink A LOT of water.
Good luck to you and I hope you are getting some sleep.
Cheers!

My midwife told me to consume 500 extra calories if only breastfeeding and if breastfeeding and supplementing with formula to consume 300 extra.
