Bride Buddies
Hi Cupid!
Good stuff - venue and dress are v important! I sorted out the cake (check it out... http://www.toptiercakes.com/index.php?module= photoalbum&PHPWS_Album_id=7&PHPWS_Pho to_op=view&PHPWS_Photo_id=126) this w'end. Invites need to go out soon, so I've been getting the artwork for that organised.
Feeling pretty on top of things but same as you, feeling a bit impatient with myself. I've been good, sticking to my food/exercise regime. I feel much better - not bloated or tired - but I wish the pounds would come off faster! I'm trying not to worry about the pounds, if I keep going, they'll come off!
Now for a cake....
Hey girls!
I had another wedding shower yesterday (my family decided to be weird and have one for each side of the family, instead of one big one) and it was really nice. I took one of the flower arrangements to work with me and everyone is complimenting it. It was really nice though, yesterday, because everyone was telling me how great I look! I've lost 30 pounds now this year, slow and steady, but people who haven't seen me often - and even people who hadn't met me, only seen pictures - were telling me I look great and beautiful. It was so nice.
My wedding is only three weeks away now. I can't lose too much more weight then, or my dress will look bad. ;-) I plan to definitely continue losing after the wedding, though, since for me this is a lifestyle change. I do wish I had started it earlier, but I am happy that I have made enough significant progress that people notice. My aunt even said, "It's not just a subtle difference. You've lost an OBVIOUS amount of weight!"
Hi, I'm also getting married May 2008 which is why I'm calorie counting now!
I'm going back to try my dress on again on Saturday - I want to be thinner!!
I was the same ryarbrough, and I've just started making myuself use calorie-count - in 2 weeks I've lost 4lb so it's working (fingers crossed).
If you need a buddy to keep you motivated, I'm in!
Ryarbrough and Bev, you guys have time, seriously, to be where you want to by the wedding. Just be honost with yourself when logging and you will see a difference!
At least you are already working out, now you just need the other half of the equation.
For motivation (as toostiegirl said) think of the honeymoon! yea!
My wedding is only two weeks away!
The weather forecast is good, so I hope that remains the case. Hope hope hope.
I am still losing pounds but can't lose too many more, because my dress was altered and I don't want to have to take it back (although, can I really complain?)
I am very excited. We talked with our minister and filled out the marriage license papers this weekend, so things are looking good.
What kinds of officiants are you brides having? We're having a handfasting ceremony done by a Unitarian Universalist minister, who is awesome and perfect for us.
Anyway congrats to everybody!
Hey everyone! The timing could not be better! I just joined calorie-counter today… and then I stumbled upon this thread. Anyway, I’m getting married on May 17th. I am 5’7” and I weigh 175… and my goal is to be down to at least 140 by the wedding. Not quite 4 months ago I weighed 161, so it looks like I’ve been heading the wrong direction. I’m a full-time graduate student, and I graduate in December with a M.S. in Health Services Administration. So, I’m thinking that the weight gain was from school starting back up, and being stressed out. But now I’m back on track and ready to get serious about getting into shape. My fiancé and I are getting our engagement photos taken on November 3rd… and we’re going to Cancun, Mexico for Christmas this year… so I hope that this is enough to keep me motivated to stay on track.
I just ordered my dress last week… I ordered it in a size 10, but I’m not really that worried because I know that they will be able to take it in. I’ll try to get a picture up on my profile soon, so everyone can see it. It has a dropped waist… and I absolutely love it. I think that I do better with my goals when I have someone to be accountable to. So, if there is anyone with similar goals who wants a diet buddy, I’m interested!!

shoeofkuribo ~ how happy are you? Sounds like you had everything ready to go! How did the weather turn out anyway? I'm sure it went great! btw - can you explain handfasting ceremony? sounds interesting!
svannote ~ congrats to you too! 40 lbs down already - you must be doing somethign right!!! The last ones are truly the hardest, but CC can really help if you log each thing you eat. You have plenty of time to lose it if you really put in the effort. How far along in the planning are you? Have you found a dress?
amberlynn ~ may also! there are a lot of may people on here! My date is october next year so I have a little more time but ideally I'd like to be at my goal before I try a single dress on, we'll see how that goes. Basically that means I should be there by the holidays when I go home to see my family (prob not). Oooh the beach for christmas - lucky! - I've always wanted to do that just once. You can be my buddy - I want to get to somewhere in the low 130's, but I am only 5'5".
How is everyone else doing? I am down 8.4 from when I started, slowing down already, but trying not to let that dampen my motivation. I had a small plateau and got pretty discouraged, I just couldn't see the same number any more! Once it budged though, it seems I am right back on track.
Thanks for your interest lemntwist!
I am extremely happy with how my wedding turned out! The weather was misty/rainy in the morning but cleared up just in time for the pictures/ceremony, so it was perfect. It was slightly chilly, but I was very comfortable in my long-sleeved dress (Beforehand, I was getting worried about it being too hot!)
The handfasting ceremony we used was adapted from here: http://www.weddingsbylance.com/ceremonies/han d-fasting-ceremony.html
I've seen that ceremony several other places on the web, but that's the version we took to our minister and just changed parts we didn't like. It was wonderful. Check out my icon picture if you haven't already! :-)
Your fall colors look great and your dress looks awesome! I love that color red it looks good on you! What city was your wedding in? Are you back from your honeymoon or checking in on the go?
I still haven't made up my mind about my dress color but defintly feeling the pressure from mom to wear white. *groan*
thanks for posting the link I will def check it out!
April 2007 bride here! Glad to see this thread pop up today. I am currently at my goal weight just looking to tone up. I recently found that i am what is called "skinny fat" so im working on getting my body fat percentage down =(
I have been slacking on my planning lately but will try and get going again by the end of this month. So far i have the dress, a dj, the venue, linens selected, centerpieces in the works, favors in the works and my "save the date" magnets sent out. I'll be working on the menu and invitations next.
Hows everyone else doing?
Anyway, my overall goal is to get down to about 160, but I know that's not reasonably possible before the wedding... so whatever I can loose by then, I'll be happy with it.... I just need some motivation to keep me moving in the right direction... I've got my dress picked out, but I'm trying to wait to actually buy it until I know about how much I'm going to actually loose.
coltonsmom ~ ha I never would've noticed you put 2007! You are pretty much on top of things from what it sounds. I am having a hard time picking a reception place.
qcmama ~ sounds like you are really motivated, welcome! What is your final goal?
mrskeith ~ you don't need a scale, check out my journal post on body fat percentages. You will DEF see results if you check your measurements and then you don't have to deal with daily weigh ins which can go up and down. Sometimes it feels like such a struggle. Guys do have it easy - it makes me jealous too!
I have narrowed it down to three possible places for the reception - one is significantly less expensive than the other two. However the only dates that they have are 1. my birthday (it's finally on a Sat!) or 2. Nov 15th. I don't want my wedding on my b-day! Is that weird or stupid? And Nov 15 is so close to thanksgiving I'm not sure a lot of people would come if we do it then.
Sooooo do I go with one of the more expensive ones? They are really nice, I am just struggling with looking at the total cost of a wedding! It just seems kind of ridculous to spend this much on one day, when we could be saving for something else (a house?) instead.
Any advice?

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
